Pipsqueak's Backyard Adventure

by Friendlyapples

The Adventure Begins

The clock on his night stand was ticking louder than it usually does, Maybe it was broken. Or maybe it was because it was so quiet in his room. either way it was annoying little Pipsqueak who was sitting on his bed, trying to keep himself occupied by reading one of his favorite comic books called 'The Amazing Adventures of Blue Mark the Pirate'. He could imagine himself with Blue fighting off evil skeleton ponies with his magical double edged sword and stealing treasure from Captain Smelly Fish himself. He was snapped out of his daydream by the loud ticking noise. He glanced up from his comic book and looked at the clock.
The clock was shaped like a pirate ship with red and white striped sails and a little pony looking into a telescope. The hour and minute hand was frozen at about three o'clock. The second hand would move slightly and jerk back which caused a loud ticking noise. The clock was either running out of batteries or he needed to replace it all together. He sighed and put down his comic, crawled across his bed and placed the clock in a drawer. He looked up from his nightstand at his window. The sun was shining and there was hardly a cloud in the sky.
'Maybe I could go outside.' He thought.

He hopped off his bed and trotted to the door. But before doing so he put on his eye patch from last year's Nightmare Night. He walked down the hallway and passed his dad who was reading the newspaper. He opened the door to the backyard and was greeted with the gentle breeze of summer. The smell of freshly cut grass was drifting up his nose as he looked at the scene in front of him. The backyard was vast, his mother's garden was on the far right and a small shed was on the left. The yard itself seemed like it went on forever, connecting into the Everfree forest.

The forest grew into his backyard before he moved there. His parents tried to avoid it by putting in a tall fence, but vines and strange plants grew around it almost swallowing it into the forest. His parents saw what had happen and called anypony who could tame the wild plants, but all had failed. They told Pipsqueak to promise to stay away from that part of the yard, and that he did what he was told. He gave them the famous Pinkie promise and stayed away from the forest.
Then one summer day, while Pipsqueak was playing in the backyard, he noticed a hole on the bottom of the fence. He looked in the hole and saw the green beauty of the mysterious and maybe the most misunderstood forest. His eyes moved from the tall trees to the vines that lead to the densely covered ground. He saw strange animals that he had never seen before, like multicolored birds and lizard like creatures with feathers coming out of their limbs. The plants came from every direction. He saw the most beautiful flowers that had orange leaves and vibrant colored petals. He was about to step into the forest when he remembered the promise he made, but not just any promise, a Pinkie promise. He knew nopony broke such a promise no matter what. But he couldn't resist, his inner adventurer made it impossible to ignore such an opportunity. He crawled through the fence and started into the Everfree. Since then he would wait until his parents weren't looking and crawl back through the hole, going deeper into the forest. He created a notebook full of things he saw in the forest and even made a little house in a hollowed out tree.

He walked from the door and on to the grass. He closed his eyes and he envisioned a new and different world, one which he often escaped to.
The sun was midway in the sky, without any clouds to be seen. It peered down at him with a great presence. The sky was ended by the large blue ocean which went as far as the eye could see. In the distance he saw the Great Island of Death. The island became popular for pirates to hide their treasure. But most ponies, even pirates, would not enter the deep forest. The island was large and loomed with the sense of danger. The trees that surrounded the island were dark and it's branches stretched out like reaching limps. The sand was white like sugar and was just as pure. It made a contrast from the dark greens and swamp like texture of the island.

Pipsqueak soon felt and heard what he saw. The sounds of common Ponyville birds were replace by the squawking of seagulls. He felt the waves pushing against his legs, almost knocking him down. The smell of the salt water made his nose tingle.

He opened his eyes and saw what he was envisioning, the trees being just as real and the water being cold and wet. He ran out of the water and on to the white sand. His hooves sunk into the sand creating little hoof prints.
A smile appeared on his muzzle as the beautiful landscape he once saw in his dreams came to life. He looked out into the ocean and saw a pirate ship in the haze. It seemed small and hardly recognizable in that distance but he knew exactly whose ship it was. With all the excitement in his body, he ran back out into the ocean and began waving his hooves in the air trying to get the captain or anypony to notice him. The ship drifted to the shore and the finer details began to present itself.

The wood on the exterior of the ship was a light brown. Cannons were placed out of the small windows on the sides of the ship. The railing around the ship was gold, the trimming and interior matched the light brown wooding and gold frame work. Ropes came from the sides of the ship, reaching out to the sails. The sails had red and white stripes and were covered in patches. A figure in the bird's nest was searching the horizon. The pony pointed out towards the island Pipsqueak was standing on. He heard a voice shout out and saw little ponies running around in the ship. The crew members pulled ropes and lowered a small boat which looked like it could carry only a couple ponies. Two ponies stepped in the boat. The first one was short and chubby, and the other was lean and tall.

They sat at opposite ends of the boat, the smaller one began to row and the boat slowly began to drift to the shore. Pipsqueak ran along the shoreline to keep up with the boat. The boat finally reached the shore with a rough stop. The taller stallion stepped out of the boat. He stood with his chest pushed out, as if he were to get a medal for a great achievement. His dark brown mane blew in the wind, a small smile grazed his mouth. The smaller stallion was still sitting in the boat catching his breath from the rowing. Pipsqueak could only stand there, his eyes glued to his hero.

His name is Captain Blue Mark. He owns the largest ship known to stallion called The Golden Mare. Nothing stood between him and the thing he wanted. He knew how to manipulate anypony into doing anything, even if it cost them their lives.
When he was a young colt he ran away from the village he once lived in to become a pirate. He didn't have any family and nopony cared for him. Once he became a pirate all that changed. His crew became is family, and they cared for him. He grew to become a strong stallion. He found all the treasure and was able to take over many ships.
The stallion in the boat was his right hoof pony. He's much older than Blue Mark, but stood by his side every since they met. He may seem like a harmless pony, but you wouldn't want to mess with him. His short stature made him into a tough pony. If anypony thought it was funny to mess with him, they wouldn't after he was finished with them.

Blue Mark's eyes scanned the land until they reached the shore. His eye caught something and looked down to see little Pipsqueak staring up at him with wide eyes. The captain smile widen into a toothy grin. His golden tooth shined in the sunlight as he stared down at the small colt. Pipsqueak didn't know weather to run or speak.

"Who are you?" Blue Mark asked.

Pipsqueak almost flinched. He swallowed a lump in his throat, trying to find the right words to use. "I-I'm Pipsqueak the p-pirate." Blue Mark and his companion, who was now standing next to him, burst out in a fit of laughter.

Blue Mark sniffed as he wiped a tear from his dark eye. "You, little lad, are the smallest thing these eye's have ever seen. You can't be a pirate."

"I am not small. I'm the biggest and toughest pony in all the land, and I am a pirate."

Blue mark raised his brows and glanced at his partner. "Well, I'm Captain Blue Mark, the greatest pirate in all the land. And this is my First mate, Crimson light." Crimson nodded with a grin."Why are you here Pipsqueak?" Blue Mark asked.

"I..uh..I arrived here by ship, Captain Blue Mark." Pipsqueak stammered.

"First, just call me Blue. And, where is this ship?" Blue questioned.

Pipsqueak looked out at the ocean. He saw Blue Mark's ship in the distance, the crew were less frantic and the deck was calm. He looked behind him near the shore. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them he saw his ship. The ship was a lot smaller than Blue's and looked more like a sail boat.

Pipsqueak pointed his hoof towards his 'ship', "Right there Captain." he shouted.

Blue Mark blinked. He didn't see that boat before he arrived. He looked back at Crimson and they both shrugged.

"Well, Pipsqueak the Pirate, would you like to join me on an adventure?" said Blue Mark.

Pipsqueak almost fainted. Not only is his idol standing right in front of him, but he is asking him to join him on one of his adventures. If Pipsqueak nodded his head any harder, it would of flew off. Blue Mark threw his head back and laughed. "Well then, let's began."
