The Story of Viola

by Viola Strings

My half of a day with him

"Hello?"
"Hey! Wake up!"
"C'mon blue eyes, you can't sleep forever."
When I heard that my eyes shot open.
"Hey there sleepyhead."
"How did you-"
"That's not important. Now, would you tell me your name, or am I just going to have to keep calling you blue eyes?"
"It's Viola, Viola Strings."
"Cool name! Do you play the viola?"
"Sometimes, but I actually got my name for my voice."
He had a puzzled on his face, so I explained how I got my name and cutie mark, and he told me how he got his.
"So, how exactly did you find me?"
"Well, I was flying around and just so happened to see you, so I thought that I would drop by."
"Oh, okay. That makes perfect sense."
"Your not from here are you? I can tell by your eyes."
"Well. No not exactly. I-"
"Where are you from then? Do you have different laws? Different customs?"
"Woah! Calm down. I was born in Canterlot, but when we were under the threat of Discord a second time, I was taken to the Crystal Empire and was raised there."
"Wait, so you're a-"
"Crystal pony, yes."
"That. Is. Totally awesome! Why'd you leave?"
"Well one, King Sombra tried to enslave everypony, and two- nope there's just that one reason."
"Wow that's crazy."
"Yup. Pretty intense."
"So, how fast can you fly?"
"Well I've never really measured my wing power, so I really don't know."
"Care for a race?"
"Depends, what're the stakes?"
"Hm... Loser gives the winner something totally unexpected. Unlike anything they've ever experienced."
"Deal."
Once we found a suitable race track, we stood at the starting line. We flared our wings, and in unison we both said:
"3, 2, 1, GO!"
I bolted so fast, I could feel static on my coat. I looked behind me as best I could and saw him approaching me. I tried different maneuvers to try and get him off coarse. He was some how gaining momentum. I tried being more agile while flapping my wings as hard and as fast as I could. After doing this, I could hear crackling along with static. Right on the surface of my hooves and the underside of my body, I could see lightning form. Before I knew it, I passed the finish line. After a minute or two, Blaze finally made it.
"Took you long enough."
"Hey! That's not fair!"
"What wasn't fair, you being a sore loser?"
"No! You're a mare, you shouldn't have beaten me!"
"What's that have to do with anything!? From what I see, your just mad because you lost point blank."
"No, it's nothing like that! I'm just not used to losing that's all."
"Well if your going to hang around me, your gonna have to learn."
"Haha, so funny I forgot to laugh."
"I think you just did."
I could tell that he was getting a little frustrated. He knew he ruined his own insult.
"Tell you what, you don't even have to go through with our little bet, okay?"
"No. I never back out of a bet, ever! I mean, if I were to back out, I would be the laughing stock of Equestria!"
"Okay, now your just exaggerating."
"Yeah well, it could happen."
"Okay, sure. Now what're you gonna do that's so unexpec-"
He pressed his lips against mine, and I could feel a new wave of electricity throughout my body.
