Visiting

There was a saying around Ponyville that the type of flowers you bring to somebody will imply what you’re feeling at the time. Red roses were blatant signs of love, and yellow daffodils meant you wish somepony well. White flowers usually mean purity, but some also believe it signified fertility, which is also why pregnant mares sometime received white flowers. The general meanings of each flowers can be tossed back and forth throughout Equestria, but despite these sub-meanings being changed, they still stayed true to their color.

For Rainbow Dash, today was a very special day for a very special somepony of hers, and she wanted everything to be perfect for her visit. Adjusting her rainbow-tipped silver bow tie and picking up some bits, she exited out of her cloud home and glided down to the Ponyville marketplace.

Ponyville may seem like a small place, but the market spoke a whole different definition with its bustling crowds. Carrots, pans, apples, hoofwatches, muffins, and more items could be found and bought here, all of them made and/or grown with love. Rainbow surveyed the stands, hoping the one she was going to was open. Thankfully, Roseluck was there, selling her flowers.

She landed in front of the flower stand with her rough grace, flapping her wings a couple times before folding them. “Heya, Rose!”

"Oh hi, Rainbow Dash!" Roseluck replied with glee. "What brings you here today?"

"I would like fifty-two blue bells," Rainbow smiled, putting down the correct amount of bits on the counter. A couple of bystanders gave her bewildered glances as Roseluck handed her a rather large bouquet of blue bells. "Thanks, Rose."

"It’s my pleasure to help, Rainbow. Your guy is sure lucky to have you."

"He told me that a lot," Rainbow smirked. Careful with the flowers, she set off to her destination, waving good bye to Roseluck.

Normally, any pegasi would have to be careful with their packages during flight, especially with items that could easily be carried off by the winds. But the perks of being the captain of the local weather team sure are rewarding as Rainbow Dash scheduled for there to only be clear blue skies today. Just what her special somepony would have wanted.

She was about halfway there until a sound entered her ears from below. Her name was also being called out.

"Rainbow! Rainbow Dash, wait up!"

She looked down below to see Scootaloo riding her scooter along the beaten dirt path. Rainbow did have some important business to attend to, but she couldn’t say no to her biggest fan who she also counted as an honorary sister close to her heart. Rainbow glided to a stop several runs ahead of Scoots, and waited patiently for the orange filly.

Scootaloo stopped with a small drift, her wheels coughing up small dust clouds as she hung her helmet on one of the handles. A smile was stretched across her face. “Hey, Rainbow Dash! I’m glad I caught up with you!”

"I’m glad you did too," Rainbow said, flashing a smile back. "So what’s up, squirt?"

"Well I was just wondering if we can hang out today. Show me a couple more of your awesome tricks! Can you show me how to do the Buccaneer Blaze? I have a flight test coming in a couple weeks, and I really wanna impress the judges so- "

"Hang on there, squirt." Rainbow Dash had a hoof pressed against Scootaloo’s mouth. "As much as a good reason you have to ask me to teach you the BB, there is still a lot I need to teach you. I’m afraid the Blaze is too much of an advanced move for you to know now."

"Aww! But Rainbow Dash!" Scootaloo pleaded, her eyes as large as puppies.

"Sorry, Scoots. Not right now, and you still need to complete the Hightail Winds course."

Scootaloo kicked some dust off the ground. “Aww. Oh alright, but you gotta promise me to teach it someday!”

Rainbow chuckled. “Of course. How about over the holidays? I think the snow should be soft enough.”

Scootaloo let loose a cry of joy. “Yeah! I won’t let you down, Rainbow Dash!”

She nodded. “You should go on ahead. I think you got some practicing to do, and I wanna see some more muscle on you by the end of the day!”

Scootaloo saluted to Rainbow as she rolled off. “Will do! See ya later!”

Rainbow Dash waved back until Scootaloo exited out of her vision. Turning back, she decided that some walking would do her some good. The finish line was very close. “Almost there, Rainbow. Almost there,” she said to herself.

Like a kept promise, her destination soon made itself known. A long iron fence of a border surrounded her end sight, its one gate was guarded by two stone statues of the Royal Sisters on either side of it. Celestia and Luna; the Sun and the Moon. Rainbow bowed to both of them before entering, and was greeted by rows upon rows.

There were so many seats, but Rainbow Dash knew where her special somepony was at. Walking just a few couple meters in, she soon found the tombstone she was looking for. Sitting down in front of it, blue bells still held in her forehooves, Rainbow Dash began to speak.

"Hey dad. It’s been a while since I’ve visited you. About a full year actually," Rainbow laughed. "A lot has happened since we last talked. Damn, where do I start? There was the return of the Crystal Empire. Yeah! A whole empire made out of crystal! How cool is that? Oh, and they’re going to be hosting the Equestria Games very soon! Quite an awesome and huge honor for them! After a thousand years of being gone, I think they deserve it.

"Oh, and Scootaloo - that filly I told you about - she’s coming along very nicely. Her wings are getting stronger each day, and she even learned a couple of your moves, dad. She’s about to enter Advanced Flight Camp soon in Cloudsdale after Hearth’s Warming Eve. Warming Eve was soo much fun there, and I’m glad you had helped me get in there. Even though I dropped out. I want to say sorry for that again.

"Oh, and Twilight became an Alicorn! A princess of Equestria! I got a new flight buddy now thanks to Celestia! Speaking of her highness, I gotta say thanks to her. Oh, and don’t think I forgot." Rainbow Dash set down the bouquet of blue bells next to the tombstone. "Happy birthday, dad."
