//------------------------------// // A Fateful Encounter (Part one) // Story: Pokemon: Pony Region // by Misterywerehog //------------------------------// It was another day in Ponyville, or so it seems. Princess Twilight Sparkle was reading in her tree house, Pinkie Pie was working at Sugarcube Corners, Rarity was working on another project, Applejack was working on the farm, Fluttershy was in her cottage feeding Angel, and Rainbow Dash was cloud-kicking. All of the sudden, a crate fell from the sky, and it exploded. Things flew all over Equestria. Twilight walked out to see the opened crate. Emerging from it was a small crate of 6 balls. Twilight picked up the crate and ran inside. “SPIKE!” She yelled. Spike fell down the stairs. “What?” He asked in a dizzy daze. He walked over to Twilight. “I…I don’t know!” She read her books, “None of my books have anything on these ball-things. Should we ask the Princess?” Just as she said this, Spike coughed a letter up from Princess Luna. “Twilight,” the letter wrote, “Princess Celestia is under the weather and couldn’t tell you this, so I decided to write on her behalf. It appears that unknown creatures have fallen from the sky. A box came with them with red and white balls and six machines that can help you out. Gather your friends and figure out where they came from and what they are.” Twilight, unsure of the balls, picked one up and tossed it. Out came a light blue fox with black legs and hands and black thief mask-like. It said, “Riolu!” It looked at Twilight, who looked kind of weird to it. “Um,” she slowly approached it. “M-My name is T-Twilight Sparkle.” The creature put its hand on its chest and replied, “Riolu.” Riolu looked up at her crown. Astonished, Riolu kneeled down. “No no,” She replied, “No need for that…” she approached Riolu. She tossed the ball at it and it went back inside. It shook three times and it clicked. She put her travel sack on and put the ball in it. She closed the case and brought it to Sweet Apple Acres. “APPLEJACK!” Applejack walked out from the barn. “What’s tha matter, sugar cube?” She saw the case, “And what’s in the case?” Twilight opened the box. “The Princess told me to give one to all of you guys.” Twilight explained the situation. Applejack nodded. She picked up a ball and turned to Twilight, “What do ah do now?” Twilight shrugged, “I tossed it and something came out.” Applejack tossed out the ball and a little blue penguin came out. “Piplup!” It said as it came out. Applejack turned her head, “What is it?” “Well,” She turned her head as well, “It said ‘Piplup’ so I’d guess Piplup.” She picked up the machine and pointed it at the creature. “Piplup, the Penguin Pokemon,” “Ah!” Twilight fell back, device in-hand. “It lives along shores in northern countries. A skilled swimmer, it dives for over 10 minutes to hunt.” Applejack picked up one of those devices. “So this thing can tell y’all what these things are?” The Pokedex spoke back, “These are Pokemon, short for Pocket Monsters. Pokemon are creatures that accompany people on their journey.” “Journey?” Applejack asked. “People?” Twilight asked. “They are used for fighting, competition, and riding.” “What‘s up?” a cyan pony came down from the sky. “Hey Rainbow!” Twilight smiled at the cyan pony. “Tryin’ to figure out these ‘Pokemon’ things.” Applejack pointed at the long box with four more balls inside of it. “Twilight said the princesses told her to give us all one.” Dash flew over to it, and picked it up. “I guess I’ll take this one. Now what?” “Toss it, see what it is!” Twilight was anxious herself. Rainbow Dash tossed the ball and a grey bird came out, “Starly!” Twilight pointed the Pokedex at it. “Starly, The starling Pokemon,” The pokedex told her, “Because they are weak individually, they form groups. However, they bicker if the group grows too big.” “Where’s the others?” asked Rainbow Dash. “Pinkie’s in Sugar Cube Corner,” Applejack told her, “Rarity’s in the Carousel Boutique, and Fluttershy’s in her cottage down in the Everfree.” Twilight closed the case, and went to walk out of Sweet Apple Acres, “Then let’s go.” “Hold up!” Rainbow yelled. “These things can be used to fight right?” Applejack nodded. “Well,” She tossed out Starly, “Let’s have a battle right now!” Applejack smirked at Dash and tossed out her Piplup. “Pokedex,” Twilight turned it on, “How do Pokemon Battles work?” “Pokemon know sets of moves that are stored in your Pokedex so you don’t forget it.” The pokedex told her. “You tell it to use a move and it uses that move. However, there are times where they won’t work. You see, Some moves can be easily dodged, some can have no effect at all.” They started up their Pokedex’s. “Starly,” Dash yelled out, “use Quick Attack!” “STARLY!” she yelled as she moved fast into Piplup and back out. Piplup took the hit and jumped back up. Applejack called out “Piplup, use Pound!” Piplup walked over and furiously kicked and punched the flying Pokemon for 2 seconds, then ran back to his side. Starly stood strong, as if not fazed by it. But soon after, showed signs of pain by falling over, but nevertheless standing back up. “I like this one!” Rainbow told them. “Alright Starly, use Tackle!” “STARLY!” It yelled as it flew over and tackled the penguin Pokemon. The penguin Pokemon fell over and stayed down. It’s eyes were replaced with swirls. “W-What’s wrong with ‘em!?” Applejack looked at her hurt Pokemon. “Piplup has fainted.” The pokedex replied. “It is unable to battle and is hurt.” “W-Well how d’ y’all fix it?” Applejack was sort of upset. “You have to take it to a Pokemon Center or revive it.” The Pokedex showed a picture of a building with a red roof and a yellow diamond. “Your starter bag kit should have five of each helpful items.” Applejack pulled out a revive and handed it to Piplup. Piplup jumped up like it was just napping. Applejack put Piplup back into the ball. “What are these anyway?” As if it weren’t obvious. “Pokeballs.” The pokedex told her. “Figures.” Dash put Starly in her ball. “Now,” Twilight turned to go out of Sweet Apple Acres, “If you guys are ready, we have to go give some ponies their Pokemon.” Applejack and Rainbow Dash nodded and followed her out.
