//------------------------------// // Entrances, And Why They're A Bad Idea // Story: Stop Thinking For A Minute // by ThatBlueScreenGuy //------------------------------// Well, I got out of the stone… Only problem with that is that I accidentally made myself into pure water… Ok, maybe I should back up a minute or two. The cracks on my statue started to form, but I had a sudden thought. I don’t know what I’ll turn into when I get out. That thought startled me for a minute. I had always liked the prospect of going to Equestria (Being a Brony and all), but I always said I wouldn’t go if I had to turn into a pony. I was a human, and that’s the way it was gonna stay. So, thinking about that fact, I tried to divert the newly found Will, and shape it into a human. The human body being 50-60 percent water (depending on body fat), and the rest flesh, organs, meat, tissue, and all that other stuff the human body is made of. I’m pretty sure this is where I went wrong. You see, I knew a lot of the human body was water. I knew that. But I think the power I feed the info to just read it as ‘being of pure water’ So that’s why, when the stone of the statue burst, I was shot out as fresh lake water. How did I know it was lake water? I have no idea, but it was a gut feeling. Or it would have been, if I had any guts. The water exploded from the statue, spraying all over the area in a twenty foot radius. It was honestly weird being in so many places at once. It was like every drop of water was its own set of eyes, and all that imagery together made for a VERY large field of view. Large enough to see the two ponies that were trying to get water out of their eyes to the left of the pedestal. Two ponies I recognised. As it turns out, Celestia and Luna don’t like being covered in human-turned-statue-turned-water. Must not be good for their coats. “Sister?” Luna asked.. “Yes, Luna?” Celestia responded. “What has just happened?” Celestia thought about it for a moment. Then she said, “I haven’t the slightest.” Luna nodded. “Me too.” The two looked at each other, then burst out into a fit of giggles. “I can’t believe,” Celestia said between laughs, “that I was worried about some statute that would only explode like a water balloon.” Luna nodded, still giggling. As touching as it is to see two sisters giggle like a bunch of school girls over what seemed like a prank to them, I still had important things to worry about. Such as being wholly water. I thought about how I would get out of this mess. So, the magic that I had used turned me into water because it interpreted 50 percent water into COMPLETELY water. Either I needed to be a lot MORE specific about my bodies chemical makeup, or I needed to be a lot LESS specific. GIven who I got this power from, I can only guess which was needed. So, instead of trying to give the specifics about my human body, I just went with something basic. Being human. I imagined my body in my mind, and wrapped my Will around the image, forcing it into reality. There was a flash, and it felt like all the little water drops that were me went through a car crash, smashed through the windshield, and all collided at the same point. When the glare from the flash disappeared, I found myself staring straight up at the sun (which I hear is bad for you), fully human again. Suffice to say, I was relieved. The Sisters, however, were not. I heard them both gasp, and the next thing I knew, I was being strung up by the ankle with Celestia’s magic. I blearily stared at the tow, and said, with slight hesitation,”I don’t suppose we could talk over a nice cup of tea, or something? Being hung like this is a pretty shitty experience.” Both sisters glared at me. “Didn’t think so. Ok! Let’s start with introductions. I’m Connor Jason Hents, but my friends call me Change! And you two lovely ladies are…?” I left the question open. Their gazes transferred from me to each other, a silent conversation passing between the two. Hell, for all I knew they could actually be speaking telepathically to each other. You tend to pick up that sort of thing after millenia of sisterhood. Celestia suddenly nodded and turned her gaze back to me. “We are Celestia and Luna, co-rulers of Equestria, raisers of the celestial bodies. We demand to know just what you were doing in that stone prison creature. It was not meant for you.” I looked over at the pedestal. It was a simple thing. White marble with a golden plaque that read simply ‘DISCORD’. I nodded. “ Yeah, definitely not for me. last I checked, my name wasn’t Discord.” I did a quick mental debate on whether to tell them the truth or not. After a seconds hesitation, I decided the half truth would work instead. “Well, you see, Discord was getting old. He was growin’ tired of the whole ‘take over Equestria’ thing, and decided to cash in his chips and retire. But then he thought ‘Say, I need a successor!’ So he went to the nearest place he could find and picked someone. That’s me.” Both of their glares redoubled. If I wasn’t so fearless and intrepid, I might have been a little frightened by it. “So, thou has come to spread Chaos and Destruction upon our fair nation?!” Luna all but shouted. “Chaos is such a harsh word… And destruction? Oh, no, my dear. That would break the rules. The game has only just started. Where would the fun be in ending it now?” “But you do intend to spread Chaos upon our realm?” Celestia questioned. I shrugged. It was a little uncomfortable, being upside down and all. “LIke I said, Chaos is a harsh word. I like to think of it more as,” I smiled a little, “Change.” Celestia narrowed her eyes at me. “Change isn’t always a good thing.” “But it is inevitable.” I countered. “Look, if you let me down, we can talk about this more in depth, and like civilized people. I think I might pass out from the blood to my head.” They both looked back at each other, another silent conversation happening. After a moment, Celestia let me down. Well, more like dropped me, but whatever. “That sound fair, creature.” She said. “But if you try to harm either of us, or any of my little ponies,” her voice became steely,”know that I will put you back in that stone prison we found you in.” She was taking a gamble saying that. She was just guessing that I had no idea she needed the Elements to turn me to stone, and that even if she had them, she couldn’t use them. “Got it.” I said, feigning caution. She didn’t need to know that I knew about the Elements. Not yet, anyway. She trotted over to Luna, never taking her eyes from me, and whispered something in her ear. Luna nodded and shot off toward the castle in the distance. I was going to guess that was Canterlot Castle. “Shall we go, creature?” She asked, a hint of hostility in her voice. I picked myself up, and dusted off my cargo pants and hoodie. They both looked different, but I would take closer examinations later. Right now, I had a Sun Princess to worry about. To answer her question, I simply said,”Lead on.” And so we walked toward the castle. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Christ, these ponies like gold. No, seriously, I don’t think you could go five feet without seeing something with gold in it. Gold trims on the windows, gold filigree in some of the paintings, guards with golden armour, golden vases scattered on gold trimmed end tables. The shit is everywhere in this place. It’s a nice look and all, but their is such a thing as too much. I’m pretty sure whoever designed the castle didn’t realise that. Celestia and I walked through the halls of Canterlot castle, her hoofs making a clop sound every time they struck, my sneakers making a slight scuffing sound. I would have worried about scuffing up the polished marble floor, but there were maids polishing the thing every hallway. Must take a fucking fortune to maintain this place. “You said your friends call you Change,” Celestia said, breaking the silence. “What did you mean by that?” I shrugged. “I meant what I said. Some of my friends call me Change.” She shook her head. “Allow me to rephrase. WHY did they call you that?” “Oh.” I said, wittily. “Well, when ever my friends got into any kind of situation, be it an argument, paintball fight, game of tag, whatever, they would always call me into it if they wanted things to get interesting.” “Interesting how?” She asked. I shrugged again. “I mostly just came up with idiotic ideas and plans that would change up the entire… Flow, I suppose, of the game. Say my friends were in a fight, and it was generally one sided. They would call me, and I would either level the playing field, throw the fight into our side of the court, of doom us to an utter defeat. I made things interesting. Changed up the monotony of stuff.” She gave me an interested look. “Seems like you don’t do things in halves.” I grinned at her. “Not generally, no. I was either a boon or a bane to the team. One way or another, though, I changed it up.” She gave me a smile I was sure was at least a little forced. “ You must have been a real joy at parties.” I pretended not to notice the stiffness in her smile. “Oh, like you wouldn’t believe. I could change a rave into a square dancing party. A masquerade into a mosh pit.” I smiled as an idea formed in my mind. “Actually, now that I’m here, I might damn well start a club of my own…” Celestia quirked an eyebrow. “Oh? Any other Ideas on what to do? Now that you’re here?” I rolled my eyes at that. “Celestia, I honestly expected more subtly from you.” “What do you mean?” She asked, her eyes growing a little larger than before. “Look,” I said, stopping my walk. She stopped too. “If you want to know my intentions about what I want to do here in Equestria, you could have just asked when we got to your sister, instead of making us walk the same ten hallways over and over.” Her face turned into a neutral mask. “Oh? And why would I do that?” I shrugged and continued our walk. “Best I could figure, you sent Luna ahead to prepare for our arrival. Make sure your trump card was ready for me. We’re just walking in circles like this to make sure Luna is prepared for us.” No points for guessing what said trump card is. Celestia caught up to me, her look curious, but guarded. “And just how did you get all this information.” “I guessed.” Celestia stopped walking. I didn’t. She hurried to my side, a look of slight surprise on her face. “How did you guess something like that?” “Well.” I hedged,”It was an educated guess. Seeing as how I’m an unknown quantity, I would only hope that you be cautious of me. And you being a ruler, I would also hope that you have more resources than most. So, I imagine that, when you learned I was Discord’s successor, you would take steps to prevent me from doing harm to you and your peoples. It only makes sense.” She looked at me skeptically. “Are you sure you’re Discord’s successor? That is a lot more logic than I would suspect from a being such as yourself.” Notice how she didn’t say ‘No offence’. I shrugged. “Give it time, and I’ll be as mad as a hatter, if that’s what you want. Don’t see why, but whatever.” She shook her head. “At any rate, you understand why I took the precautions that I could?” I nodded. “I get it. I don’t LIKE it. But I get it.” “Then you will also understand,” she said, “Why I must insist we put you under surveillance. We need to be sure you are no threat to Equestria.” I sighed and nodded. “I expect nothing less.” The rest of the walk was straight forward, and in silence. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ We arrived at what I suspected to be the Throne Room doors. I was about to open the door, but Celestia put a hoof out to stop me. “Inside is one of the most powerful entities on the planet, and our most powerful weapon. If you were to just barge in, It would surely startle them enough to do something rash. I will go ahead, and warn them about you. I imagine Luna didn’t tell them much. That last bit was more to herself than to me. I nodded and said, “No flashy entrances. Got it.” Celestia nodded. “Give me thirty seconds to talk to them, then enter. They should be warned by then. If not, I take full responsibility for any harm that comes to you.” l gave her a toothy smile. She gave me a smile of her own, though with less pointy teeth, and walked in. So, no big entrances. That’s boring, if understandable. I mean, I certainly don’t want to be killed on accident. That would be embarrassing as hell. I just had to sit here, and wait for the thirty seconds to pass. After about five seconds, I got bored. So, I thought of ways to make this situation interesting. That’s what I always do when bored. It works most of the time, though there always seems to be a price to pay for it. Meh. I thought about what Celestia said. I really shouldn’t startle them. That would be the smart thing to do. The right thing to do. The logical thing to do. But then, I was the new Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony. I shouldn’t have to follow logic, if it means I make shit fun. They say first impressions are lasting impressions. I wonder how long I can make this one last. I smiled as a plan formulated in my head. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ “-and so I need you all to remain calm for me. I know its strange, but I feel this is the best course of action.” Celestia said, finishing her quick speech. The Elements of Harmony had gathered into a semicircle around Celestia as she gave her speech. They all had various reactions to the whole thing. Rainbow Dash and Applejack had looks of varying distrust at the prospect of this new creature. Fluttershy had hid behind Rainbow when she heard ‘Successor to Discord’, and Rarity looked a little disgusted at the description of the thing and what it wore. Twilight, ever the scholar, was excited about the opportunity to study this new creature, but was cautious about the power it wielded. Pinkie was excited too. But she was hopping around, saying something about a ‘New Friend’, and ‘Parties’. Applejack raised her hoof. “Princess,” she asked. “Are ya sure this thing can be trusted? Ya only just met ‘im.” Celestia would have responded, but was interrupted by the sound of a cymbal being lightly stuck by a drumstick. And, just as suddenly as the electric guitar, the door exploded, flying off their hinges and off to the sides. Smoke covered the doorway, but a distinct shape could be seen. The shape of a biped. It slowly walked forward and out of the smoke. It walked forward, out of the smoke. It could be seen wearing clothes. Pants, shoes, and a jacket with a hood. The shoes it wore were a bright neon orange, laced together with neon red strings. The pants looked tan, but were covered in splotches of different coloured paints. The jacket it wore was checkered patterned, with the colours alternating between yellow and purple. When the Girls saw its face, they saw a wide grin, and aviator sunglasses to cover up its eyes. Its short , spiky hair was a shade of white. Not pure snow white, but closer to that of an eggshell. Periodically, you could see strands of black in its hair. Its grin widened when it was them staring at him. Its one hooked tooth that stretched past its lips could be seen quite clearly, and Fluttershy almost fainted. Finally, its lips moved, as it said, “Howdy.”
