Act XXI: Diamond's Damnation

Scene i: Silhouette

In the house of the family of Filthy Rich, all was asleep except for one soul. All the lights were off except for one light. All was quiet except for one room.

Diamond Tiara sat up on the side of her bed. Her mind was a tremble, same as the rest of her body. She could not find rest due to the emotions surging through her. For the longest of times, the emotions had been fear. However, the fear had now faded in to apprehension and deep sadness that had slowly evolved into grief.

The filly got off the bed and walked over to her dresser. She opened one of the drawers and flinched as her eyes looked down at the collection of metal and diamond shards that were once her tiara.

"We can't do this, Diamond! We just can't!"

"What do you mean, we can't?! Those losers think they can find their Special Talents and think they have worth? I don't think so!"

"But this is wrong!"

"Wrong?! I don't care about right and wrong! All I care about is making those Cutie Mark Crusaders and anyone who associates with them suffer!"

"Look, I understand teasing Blank Flanks. They really have no purpose or value. But smashing someone's property?"

"Of course! How can Scootaloo use her Special Talent without a scooter! That'll show her how pathetic her talent is!"

"No. No, no, no, I can't do this!"

I should've known you'd chicken out! That's why I didn't let you in on my Gabby Gums plan! Well I don't need you here either! I'll do it myself!"

"NO!"

Diamond Tiara bit her lip as she did her best to stop herself from giving into the feeling of shame building up within her. "Stupid, stupid, stupid. . ." she muttered out loud as tears began to pool in her eyes. She shook away the tears and started to storm back to her bed in a frustrated demeanor. However, she stopped after a few steps and turned back to her dresser. She slowly walked back towards it and looked at the sparkling pieces again.

Diamond Tiara lightly put her hoof on the shards and simply thought of what happened, and how it had happened.

"Screw you, Sweetie Belle," she muttered darkly, but then her face immediately turned into one of regret and guilt. "Oh, who am I kidding, this is my fault too," she said. Diamond Tiara then focused on the smashed tiara as she began to voice her inner thoughts and emotions.

I'm tired of waking up in tears
Cause I can't put to bed these phobias and fears
I'm new to this grief, I can't explain
But I'm no stranger to, the heartache and the pain

Diamond Tiara looked back at her own Cutie Mark.

The fire I began is burning me alive
But I know better than to leave and let it die

Diamond Tiara gained a disgusted look, and she turned back to the drawer and slammed it shut.

I'm a silhouette, asking every now and then
Is it over yet? Will I ever feel again?
I'm a silhouette, chasing rainbows on my own
But the more I try to move on, the more I feel alone

The filly sniffed and wiped away a stray tear as she walked towards her window.

So I watch the summer stars to lead me home

The filly sat and stared at the stars in the sky, sighing as they winked and twinkled back at her, almost mockingly.

"I'm not afraid of you, Sweetie Belle," Diamond Tiara said, but this only brought a new wave of terror through her entire being. The filly scowled, "Okay, so I'm not. . ." She sat glaring into the night sky for a minute or two, but then her expression softened. "All I did was wreck a dumb scooter. . ." she said softly as she went back to her dresser and opened another drawer. "You didn't have to make me a coward. . ." she said as she pulled out a photo album. Her chest became tight with grief as she flipped through all the photos of her and Silver Spoon having fun together. ". . .or take away my only friend."

After a few sobs, the filly began to continue to express herself.

I'm sick of the past I can't erase
A jumble of hoofprints, and hasty steps I can't retrace
The mountain of things I still regret
Is a vile reminder that I would rather just forget

The fire I began is burning me alive
But I know better than to leave and let it die

I'm a silhouette, asking every now and then
Is it over yet? Will I ever smile again?
I'm a silhouette, chasing rainbows on my own
But the more I try to move on, the more I feel alone

So I watch the summer stars to lead me home

Diamond Tiara closed the book and sighed, wiping away the tears running down her face.

"Why did I spend so much time attacking those three. . ." she said softly, "Why didn't I just ignore them? Why didn't I just mind my own business?" The filly shuddered and fell onto her stomach and moaned out, "Why did I ever smash that scooter!?"

The filly sobbed quietly into her hoofs for a moment. "I'm sorry, Silver Spoon. . .please. . .come back. . .I need you. . ." Diamond Tiara took a breath and continued.

Cause I walk alone. No matter where I go.
Cause I walk alone. No matter where I go.
Cause I walk alone. No matter where I go.

I'm a silhouette, asking every now and then
Is it over yet? Will I ever laugh again?
I'm a silhouette, chasing rainbows on my own
But the more I try to move on, the more I feel alone

So I watch the summer stars to lead me home

I watch the summer stars to lead me home

"I have to talk to Silver Spoon," Diamond Tiara said. However, the image of Sweetie Belle and her friends standing over her with sledgehammers raised flashed before her eyes. Diamond Tiara screamed and jumped onto her bed, burying her face in her pillow. "It's not fair. . ." she thought bitterly. Sweetie Belle pointed at her and laughed as her horn shone bright green, "Please, make it stop! Somepony make it stop!"

Just then, there was a knock on her bedroom door.

Scene ii: When Will You Die?

Diamond Tiara picked her head up a looked at the door. She blinked as the knocking continued. She began to worry that she may have woken up her father. The filly walked over to the door, and pushed it open.

"I am the one with the Singing Cutie Mark," Sweetie Belle said.

Diamond Tiara opened her mouth to scream, but no sound came out.

Sweetie Belle poked Diamond Tiara in the chest with her hoof and said, "Thanks to my special talent, I could, like, sense your little song. And if you're wondering how I got in here, your maid or butler or whatever you got left a window open!"

Diamond Tiara swallowed hard and said, "W-wait. . .stay away. . ."

Sweetie Belle frowned as she stepped toward Diamond Tiara.

"Please!" Diamond hissed, "I'm not going to pick on anypony anymore! I promise! I just want Silver Spoon back. Please. . ."

Sweetie Belle stamped the ground hard as her horn cast green light throughout Diamond Tiara's room. She scowled and launched into a song of her own.

I’m so tired,
of your lies
And the evil things you’re doing behind my back
Are there crimes that you have never committed
I doubt it sometimes I wonder when will you die

You’re insane!
You are bad!
You wreck everything you touch and you’re a sociopath!
There’s just one thing that everyone’s wondering
When will you die

Sweetie Belle smiled at Diamond Tiara's horrified facial expression. The filly seemed to be fearing for he life at the moment. Sweetie Belle stifled a chuckle, and jumped on the filly's bed. She bounced around on it while strumming an imaginary guitar as she continued her song.

Schoolchildren stay at home, yeah.
And all the banks will close, yeah.
Each year we’ll mark the date, yeah.
On which we celebrate

I know how
I know why
I can picture every part of your comeuppance except
For the one remaining piece of the puzzle
Which is when you’ll die

"Please, please, go away! I'm not gonna bother you or your friends or anypony again! I promise!" Diamond Tiara begged.

"Wow! The high and mighty Diamond Tiara begging like a. . .what was it again? A 'Cutie Mark Crybaby'?" Sweetie Belle asked with a smile, relishing every moment of it.

"You did this to me!" Diamond Tiara moaned tearfully, while at the shame time shrinking fearfully away from the unicorn's green magical light, "You took away everything! My self-confidence! My Tiara! Even my friend!"

"You're wrong!" Sweetie Belle replied, "Silver Spoon left on her own after she saw how evil you were when you smashed Scootaloo's scooter! And then, because of what you did, Fate led me to take everything else away from you! And you deserved it all! But you know what?" Sweetie's horn fired up even brighter, causing Diamond Tiara's eyes to widen with panic.

"You still deserve more," the unicorn filly said with a humorless frown on her face. She then jumped off of the bed and went back to singing.

Still you live
You go on
But you’re running out the clock and if we knew how long
I’d be counting down the days until the lovely one
On which you’re gone

On that promised morning we will wake and greet the dawn
Knowing that your wicked life is over and that we will carry on

We’ll exhale
We’ll high-five
We will know at last how great it is to be alive
We’ll be lining up and buying tickets and then we’ll be
Jumping up and down on your grave

You’re insane!
You are bad!
You wreck everything you touch and you’re a sociopath!
And the only way to mitigate would be to know the date,
You’re scheduled to vacate.
When are you going to die?
Look me in the eye!
Tell me when you’ll die!

Sweetie Belle then gave a little grunt as she pointed her horn at Diamond Tiara. There were a few stray green sparks that flew off of it at first, but then the filly's horn burst with light, and a narrow beam shot out and hit Diamond Tiara square in the forehead. The rich filly fell onto her side without a sound.

Sweetie Belle shook the magic off of her horn and looked at her handiwork. Still not smiling, the unicorn walked over to the incapacitated filly and lifted her by here forelegs. She was able to drag Diamond Tiara over to her bed, onto it, and tuck her in beneath the covers. Sweetie Belle nodded to herself, and then left the room, closing the door behind her.

The unicorn slipped back out the open window and made her way to the tall gate. She used the rope she used to get in to get out, and then threw it into some bushes. Just as she was about to walk home, loud voices suddenly reached her ears. Sweetie Belle was curious and followed the voices into Ponyvile. Before long she was in the vicinity of Town Hall, and the voice became and more and more clear.

The filly smiled.

"They finally got you, Spike."
