//------------------------------// // test subject E000 // Story: portals, ponies and cybertronians // by unusablechaos //------------------------------// Chapter 7: test subject E000 King Sombra walked into the next test area, In the center was a peculiar podium with a strange device on it “Say hello to the Aperture science handheld portal device” said GLaDOS “Hello” said Sombra The device did not respond. “Wow for once you actually obeyed me and all it did was show more of your unintelligence, well, what are you waiting for, pick it up.” The dethroned king picked the device and slid it onto his hoof, it was a snug fit but it would do. “This Aperture laboratories product is capable of creating portals threw space and time.” said the psychotic AI. “Perhaps I can use it to escape from this place, heh why bother keeping ponies captive if you’re just going to provide them with means of escape?” thought Sombra. He activated one of the three triggers, and the device made a small “bloop” sound but nothing happened. Sombra looked at the camera monitoring him from one of the corners of the room, but the strange voice was silent. So he pulled one of the other triggers and, not expecting anything to happen, he was thrown backward when an orange energy bolt shot out of the end of the device and an orange oval appeared on the wall it was pointed at. He sat there, stunned for a moment then he realized that this could be his chance and Ran for the oval he jumped up towards it (insert glorified victory music here) then he slammed against the wall of energy. (Insert comic wah, wah, waaah music here) He sat there yet again, seeing portal guns fly around his head chirping. “HAHAHA oh HAHAHAHA! Wow I haven’t had a laugh as good as this since I flooded the facility with deadly neurotoxin! Ahahaha!” said GLaDOS. Sombra recovered from his trance and growled at the ceiling. “Oh, did the whittle kingie get a booboo? Ahahahahaha!” “If you’re not going to say anything useful, you can just shut up.” He said. “Oh but I always say things useful, like how stupid that cape looks on you.” “Grrrr.” “Oh alright, you do realize there are three triggers on that device, don’t you?” The dethroned king looked at the last trigger, pointed the device at a different wall and pulled it. This time a blue oval flashed on the wall and then opened to reveal kind of a mirror, except the mirrored king Sombra was facing the wrong way. He looked at the orange oval which now had the same sort of view as the blue one. King Sombra thought on this for a moment then realized what was going on. The two portals where inter-connected one displays the others point of view. He jumped through and, unlike the inter-dimensional portal that had brought him here, this was as easy as stepping threw a doorway, save the fact that when he stepped through he lost all sense of direction. Honestly, he could get used to this. “Well done.” said GLaDOS as a door opened in the opposite side of the room. “You’ve figured out the A.S.H.P.D. faster than anyone else in your testing group.” “I have?” he said, slightly surprised at this and the fact that GLaDOS never gave complements without a- “Of course, I haven’t tested anyone else in your group yet.” There it was. He walked through the door way into another room. There was a button on the floor and another on an elevated panel, two cubes where also in the room, one on another elevated panel opposite to the first one in a pit in the back of the test chamber, but they were both surrounded by the fizzler things he had run into earlier, but these ones glowed orange instead of blue. “Normally these fizzlers would stop any portals from going through.” Said GLaDOS. “But these ones I have reprogrammed to simply stop you from going through and allow the portals to pass through unharmed. “hmm…” he said. He quickly calculated how he could solve this and in a short amount of time, he did. “well.” Said GLaDOS. “Now that you have become familiar with the uses of the portal gun, we can move onto harder tests.” “That was incredibly easy.” Said king Sombra, desperate to give GLaDOS a taste of her own medicine. “I find that surprising.” She replied “after all, you did horrible on the first tests, which are about the easiest in the entire course, but then again, you’ve always been a bit backwards, haven’t you?” King Sombra, stood there stunned, and then realized she’d done it again. “I’m getting real annoyed at you poking around inside my head.” He said “Oh get used to it.” She responded. He walked through the door towards the elevator. “Oh and by the way I saw your crush.” “My what?” he said “Your lady friend, or should I say mare friend?” “Shut up.” “… She’s very pretty.” “I said shut up!” Chell ran through the corridors and then collapsed in a corner, breathing heavily. “oh.” She thought “what am gonna do? There’s no hope, GLaDOS has my only way out of here… as usual, of course I’d say this is the kind of situation I thrive in.” She looked up and saw a window and saw a full view of the testing area, millions of rooms, all completely re-irrigable, and interchange able, all constantly in motion, controlled by GLaDOS Chell had to admit, GLaDOS had some skill at doing this. She looked around for a door into the place, and found it. “well” she thought “here we go again.”
