Equestria Boy

Chapter Two: Discover

Twilight unpacked. She placed her crown and research book on the dresser. The princess sighed, staring out the window. "I wonder what my other friends are doing right now?" she thought aloud.

Discord eavesdropped, camoflauging himself against the wallpaper with his chaotic abilities. Twilight sat on the bed, staring intently off into space. Discord watched as a tear ran off the side of her muzzle and splashed onto the sheets. She left them to miss her. "I have to go back..." she whisperesd, "Just one more time...."

Out of the dresser, she found a fresh ink bottle, a quill, and a sheet of paper. She began scribbling a note down in fine penmanship. She placed it on the bed and looked back out that lonely window on the wall. "Please understand..." she prayed.

Twilight hopped down and began hoofing her way to the room where the mirror was kept on the floor above. Discord heard a voice telling him how wonderful this new world must be. Whether it was a mirage he created or a trick his mind played on his eyes, he saw two smaller versions of himself perch on his shoulders. "Just leave her, it's none of our concern." the one on the right said.

"Are you kidding? That place must be amazing!" the one on the left nudged him. "I mean, she was crying she wanted to go back so bad!"

"You do have a point," the real Discord argued. "Then again, it could just be royal business... No fun in that."

"It would make sense not to go." the one on the right nodded.

The mini discord on his left shoulder looked at him with a smug grin. "What fun is there in making sense?" he hissed.

Discord (the real one) agreed. He assumed that the room with the most guards in front of its doors would contain the portal, the one thing Discord was not allowed to touch in the castle. With his sights set on that particular room, he grabbed the research book and headed towards the forbidden doorway.

The guards bowed as Twilight approached and opened the heavy doors. "Your highness." they muttered.

She nodded to them, looking a particular pegasus guard in the eyes before nodding silently once more and moving forward. She spread her wings, eyes locked on the floor, and sighed. "Well, this is it... my last chance to see them..." she whispered.

Something brushed across her legs, slightly alarming her. She turned around, seeing the master of chaos squeeze by her. "Oopsy! Pardon me!" he sarcastically apologized.

"D-Discord... What are you-"

He stood with his face only inches away from the mirror's surface, a curious claw outstretched. "No! Don't touch that!" the purple princess warned.

"Sorry, my dear," sarcasm ringing in his tone once more, "I simply must know what is so amazing that you spent a good hour sobbing about upstairs."

She charged at him, several guards following her. "Discord, no! You'll be stuck for thirty-"

ZAP!

Twilight felt the portal become glass again. She hit it with a loud thud, falling at the hooves of Flash Sentry. "Your highness, are you alright?" he asked, helping her up.

She accepted his help and went into a panic. "We have to tell the Princess! Quickly!"
