The Rant of the Mortal Prince

As the family began to walk to Celstia's chambers to have some quiet family time, a familiar, disliked figure came before them a few yards away. "Oh boy, here comes what I like to call the element of stubbornness," Cadence sighed.

"Oh, our cousin Blueblood. So that's what he looks like. Huh, I would have expected no more of him," Glacies said.

"Now Glacies, be nice," Luna said.

"What? I'm just commenting. His attitude truly will define him, and you know I am a pretty open-minded stallion. Besides, he's our cousin," Glacies said.

"A lousy one in my opinion," Twilight said.

"Now come on little sister, don't be like that," Glacies said.

"Glacies, we haven't had the best relationship with him. We try to play it nice, but trust me, he easily gets on your nerves," Cadence stated.

"Well, my nerves are hard to trigger, so we'll see," Glacies said.

"Indeed," Luna said.

They soon trotted close enough to where they would be in hearing range and Celestia asked, "Is there something we can help you with nephew?"

"Yes, I would like to speak with you in private, Aunt Celestia," Blueblood stated.

"Has thou forgotten that we and our sister co-rule together?" Luna asked in a medium Canterlot voice.

"No, I haven't, but I still wish to talk to her in private," Blueblood snapped.

"It's alright sister, it's more then likely a family matter, and not a political matter. I'll take care of it, trust me," Celestia said with a smirk and wink out of Blueblood's line of site.

"As you wish, dear sister," Luna replied.

Soon Blueblood and Celestia walk into the conference room, they had conveniently stopped in front of and shut the doors, making the room sound proof. Glacies walked up to his aunt and asked, "What's the face?"

"What face?" Luna asked as she tried to act casual.

Cadence bumped in and said as she pointed her hoof at her aunt, "That face."

"There's no face, this is my face," Luna said as she tried to keep a stiff upper lip, but failed.

"Auntie Luna, you know we know you better then that. What do you have planned?" Twilight said.

Luna giggled, "The room is suppose to be soundproof, so the common ears don't have to hear what is being said and spread a gossip, but I know a spell that will allow us to see inside and listen to every word."

"Well, what are we waiting for, I want to see what our mom has in store for our, regal cousin, Prince Blueblood," Twilight said.

"I second that," Cadence said.

"Agreed," Glacies added.

Luna cast the spell, as Celestia allowed her sister to let her do this, not letting their mortal nephew know in the process, and the aunt and siblings listened in along with Shining Armor.

Meanwhile on the other side of the door.

"Would you mind explaining to me, dear aunt, what a ruffian like him is doing on the castle grounds," Blueblood asked.

"Excuse me, that is your cousin, and my son you are talking about," Celestia said.

"I understand he has royal blood inside him, but he is unsatisfactory for a royals way of life," Blueblood continued.

"Blueblood, he has only been back for a day, and already you are judging him," Celestia stated.

"I saw enough and heard enough to know he is no proper royal. He should not be allowed to walk among these castle grounds," Blueblood said.

"Blueblood, I am warning you now, you better watch what you say. He is your cousin, and he learns fast. You have no idea what it was like during the time Discord had ruled these lands. You should offer him a little more respect," Celestia said.

"I should offer him respect? He has only been here a day, and you act as if he's been here longer then me. Where was he when I had no older boy cousin to go to when I wanted to play? Where was he when I had graduated my schooling as a royal? Where was he when Equestria could have used the help of the alicorns in the battle against my Aunt Luna's darker side when she first appeared or when she returned as that dreaded Nightmare Moon? He was off sleeping somewhere when Equestira needed him," Blueblood retorted in a raised tone.

"And if it wasn't for him, Luna and I would never have defeated Discord. If it wasn't for him, Equestria would still be in Chaos. If it wasn't for him, you may never have been. He didn't ask to be put to sleep. He had been cursed. If you think for one moment you could have fared better then him in a battle with Discord, you are sadly mistaken my nephew. Discord would have had you pleading for mercy before you knew what hit you. Now that my son has returned, he will be able to balance out the winter that you were always complaining about," Celestia said in an angered tone.

Blueblood was taken aback by his aunts reaction.

"Oh yes, he is the ledgendary "Prince of Winter" that was always rumored about by storytellers who had ancestors that lived more then one thousand years ago and saw what happened, then passsed down the verbal stories to their kids and so on. But over time that story was turned to myth to excite children for a good story. Because he was asleep, we were unable to control much of the snow that became a little too much in some areas. He can now restore the balance, granted, he will be getting a lot of help from the weather pegasi, but that is beside the point. And, there is a lot more he can do that we have not revealed. We will keep those abilities to ourselves until further notice. Now I will tell you this once, and only once. Do not say my son has no right to rule, nor call him a common ruffian. If you so much as try anything or say anything to disown him, I will know. I have resources that will tell me of such actions, so don't think I won't hesitate to give you punishment," Celestia said.

"B-but... I'm your nephew," Blueblood said as he cowered at his aunts posture.

"Yes you are. But that does not exempt you from being punished. Trust me, your mother would know," Celestia stated.

Blueblood gulped at her statement and remembered stories his mother told of mortal family members that had been punished in the past by his aunt. "So are we clear on how you shall treat your cousin, or should I say cousins?" Celestia asked.

"Cousins?" Blueblood fire back.

Celestia stared him in the eye to show she was not joking and he said, "I mean yes, yes we are clear."

"Good. Now, we will be having guests that will be arriving tomorrow. There is a certain mare in that group who requires an apology from you after the way you treated her," Celestia said.

"Wait... you don't mean?" Blueblood managed to say.

"Yes, it is Rarity," Celesita.

"But she," was all he managed to say before Celestia cut him short.

"I do not want to hear an excuse. You treated her very poorly when she spent time with you and had a cake land on her when you used her for a shield. In all my years, that was one of the most insulting things a prince would do. A prince wouldn't have treated a mare, no matter her position in society, like a sac of flour to be tossed around. He would treat her to a warm greeting and ensure she had a wonderful time. A prince wouldn't have a mare open a door for him because of her background. He would kindly open the door and perhaps win the mares heart more and more. Lastly, a prince would not use a mare as a shield from cake, or other such objects. He would either pull her out of the way or use himself as the shield, depending on how much time he had before the object would hit her. In that instant, not only would he have her swept off her hooves, but also would be grabbing the attention of many other single mares. Your actions at the last Grand Galloping Gala proved the exact opposite of a good prince. I will give you time to learn from your mistakes, but I expect you to apologize to Rarity when she arrives. For one, she has caught the eye of many nobles, mares and stallions alike with the attire she creates. For another. she is a bearer of one of the Elements of Harmony and helped to save Equestria with Twilight and their friends," Celestia said.

Blueblood was shellshocked.

"I wager you didn't know that, for she never mentioned it to you. In my opinion, when she decided to let her anger out on you, it was something you deserved. Whether or not she will forgive you after your apology is out of my hooves. Your actions gave her a first impression of you. So I'll leave you be and think about everything you and I have discussed. It will be your decision in the end to judge what will happen in the future. Have a good day my nephew," Celestia said as she trotted to the door.

Back outside the room.

"Wow, I didn't know mom had that kind of persuasion on ponies," Twilight said.

"You and me both little sister," Glacies said.

"Well, he had it coming," Cadence said.

"Indeed he did," Luna added in.

"Lets just see how long he holds up, you know him," Twilight said.

"As Applejack's older brother always says, 'Eeyup'," Cadence said making the whole family and Shining Armor giggle.

Soon Celestia trotted out and took a deep calm breath. "Well let us head to my chambers and have some family bonding. Shining, would you care to join us?" Celestia asked.

"Oh, I was actually going to spend some time with my own family Your Highness. Besides, I don't wish to intrude," Shining said.

"We understand. Be sure to let your parents know they are invite to Glacies' welcome home party in three days," Celestia said.

"You surprise me your highness, but I shall tell them. Thank you," Shining said.

"Your welcome Shining Armor, and I thought I told you to skip the formalities," Celestia said.

"My apologies your maj-I-I mean Celestia," Shining replied.

"That's better," Celestia said.

Twilight and her siblings chuckled and Shining blushed before bowing and trotting off to see his folks. The royal family made their way up to Celestia's chambers to have their private family bonding as Blueblood continued to sit in the conference room and contemplated what he would do.
