We've been flying for five minutes and have made barley any progress.
"So Twilight, do you know what spell Trixie's using?" I ask in a monotone voice. She's been bugging me this whole time saying things like "Well" and "soo" and it is really starting to get on my nerves.
"No not really Rainbow Dash I mean she does have the alicorn amulet" Twilight replies, zigzagging as we flew through the air really slow.
"Don't you think we would cover more land on ground Twilight? Not that I'm saying your a bad flyer or anything but we're like fifty meters from the library," I explained as I start to descend
"Heh yeah I guess you right," we hit the ground with a soft thump, well I did, Twilight hit the ground with a loud oomph.
We past Fluttershy's cottage. She had so many posters up for a missing bunny Have you seen this little angel? well this got Twilight instantly, she ran towards the light brown door and knocked "Fluttershy are you home?" no reply. Twilight uses her magic to unlock the door and enter the brightly colored room
"Whats the matter Twilight you know about all of this," I reply, a little to casual for the worried alicorn.
"No Rainbow Dash it's happening totally different now!" she yelled, hesitant to move further into the small room. "what happened here Rainbow Dash?" she asked me.
"Well we got into a fight over me losing tank then Angel jumped out the window over there" I say as I point to the window.
"so she's in the everfree forest, great" she sighs "well we better rescue her as well," she replies with a small and quiet voice almost mimicking fluttershy's only without all the fear.
We left the cottage and head towards the everfree forest until something came out of the forest. it was like a small black blob and it was coming towards us, fast.
"Oh for Celestia sake we don't have time for a mirrorling," she groaned.
"A mirrorling? don't you mean a changling?" I ask starting to feel confused.
"No this is a mirrorling. It's like a changling only instead of just looking like you this one will mirror you" she lectures as the mirrorling starts to change shape and colour. It starts to form the legs first, the four cyan hooves are identical to mine. Then the wings and the body, the wings are covered in feathers and the body is now the right colour along with the cutie mark: a cloud with a rainbow lightning bolt. Finally the head mane and tail start to form. when it finally finishes I just stare at it, as it does at me "and it chose you, even better."
I take a step with my right leg and at the same time he takes a step with it's left. "Twilight this is starting to creep me out," I confess.
"if you want to break the mirror you have to beat it somehow, your best chance is the sonic rainboom... or flying really fast" she yelled the last bit out but I still couldn't hear her I was to far away flying faster and faster
"lets see what your made of" we said in unison. we just flew faster, faster... faster I was starting to get exhausted but I noticed it was slowing down faster then me so I decided to pick up the pace a bit, as did it but not as fast as me still. I give my hoof a small wave to see if their was a delay. Success about half a second. I decided to finish it off with a sonic rainboom, I tilt backwards and start to ascend gaining height. I continued this altitude gaining until I couldn't see the ground and then I nose dive. I stop flapping my wings to streamline picking up more and more speed. I look back to see where the mirror me was, only a few seconds behind. I approached the sound barrier and applied wing force to break past it. Colours of all sorts spread out in all directions as my speed almost triples, the mirrorling however could not break the sound barrier and started to fall to the ground while returning to its original form. I sweep underneath it to grab it and land on the ground completely exhausted.
On closer inspection it had no eyes, ears, mouth, nose or anything it was just a black blob no bigger then me. It started to take my form again but this time it wasn't mirroring me. In fact it was standing opposite to me while I just lay there on the ground. It offered its hoof out to help me up, I grab it and we started to walk and talk.
"Man your fast," it said in my voice.
"you weren't to bad yourself, but why did you do that" I asked it
"I'm the new guardian of the forest my parents died recently so I had to take over. My name is Shadowlight Rainbow Dash it is very nice to meet you,"
"wait wait wait how did you know my name"
"I can copy every detail all the way down until the special talent is revealed, the first time I mirror someone I have no choice but to copy them until I get some sort of advantage on them" It explained
"what kind of advantage?"
"like getting ahead of you but that was almost impossible from the start, when you put you hoof out at the start I did it a little bit to slow causing me to be locked in your favour" it looked down in shame.
we continued this conversation until Twilight came into sight she was busy reading a book
"Hey let's pull a prank on Twilight, I'll run behind her and all you need to do is distract her then I'll scare her got it?" he simply nods
"Hey Twilight I'm back!" he yells out
"Great, wheres the mirrorling?" she asked
"Ah he was way to slow for this way to fat pony," he replied
"Fat?" Twilight questioned
"Sorry my bad, just a typo Shadowlght was ment to say fast then the real Rainbow Dash was going to scare you," the author explained
"God darn it author!" Rainbow Dash yelled.
"Opps Sorry" the Author apologises again
"Okay Rainbow Dash lets go Trixie gets stronger by the second," she explained.
"But what about..."
"Bring him with us the more the merrier," she interrupted as we walked into the everfree forest
