//------------------------------// // Darkest Fears // Story: Darkest Fears // by Foxes33 //------------------------------// The clock was ticking on the wall, it was nerve racking. The months had gone by so fast, like grains of sand slipping through Rainbow's hooves. Her heart thudded with fear, it was raining and all she could do was stare blankly out the window. She lifted her left hoof, touching the left side of her face, where a tiny unnoticeable indent was. Her eyes showed nothing as she stood on the cold wood floor, of Twilight's library home. She felt terrible, she knew what was coming and it was all the same. She could feel herself slightly shaking, her rose eyes still staring out into the dark. When her friend had came up behind her she didn't notice until she spook. "Rainbow? Are you alright?" Twilight asked concerned for her friend. Rainbow snapped out of her trance and turned to face her friend, "Oh, umm, sorry Twilight, I am fine, just thinking." Rainbow answered. "Are you sure, your seem... off today Rainbow." Twilight said concerned once again. Rainbow managed a fake smile that looked real. "Don't worry Twilight, can you just get me my book please? Then maybe we can talk for a little while." Twilight smiled and nodded, but Rainbow could still tell she was a little worried. She was one of the only friends that were still here because of the murders, Fluttershy was helping Rarity who got a fashion career in Canterlot. She was also frighten from the murders last yea, she even said she needed a break from Ponyville. Pinkie and Applejack went on a trip, they had become so close since Pinkie helped on the farm in Fall when they needed help harvesting. They would come back, but Twilight was the only one here for now. Besides she was the only one left and they had gotten closer. Rainbow sighed and waited until Twilight came back with a book about myths. She had to know what she could do to escape. "Why are you interested in this book anyways?" Twilight asked, handing Rainbow the book. It was black with a strange face on it, the book was strange and there was no title on the cover. "I am just a little curios, that's all." Rainbow answered, somewhat lying. Twilight nodded, "Let's go into the kitchen, you can wait out the storm here Rainbow." Rainbow nodded and followed her friend into the kitchen. She sat down and waited for Twilight to bring over the tea. Twilight sat down at the other end of the small round table. The wood was very lightly colored, but was fitted with a red table cloth. "It is strange with all the stuff that happened last year. I am surprised ponies are still in town, to be honest, even with the killings, I don't know why ponies would want to leave really. Well at least our other friends." Twilight sighed as she took her seat. Rainbow nodded, even though she knew the truth. She felt nervous, her stomach aching a little, but she ignored it. She just stirred her tea and took a big drink, trying to finish it fast so she wouldn't have to stay long, he was waiting. Rainbow Dash decided to wait a few minutes and pretend that she actually had work to do. "I wish they were back, they just all seemed to disappear, I know Applejack and Pinkie will be back, Fluttershy and Rarity a little longer, but it feels empty here, you know Rainbow?" Twilight asked. Rainbow paused, "Yeah I know what you mean." She waited a second and looked at the clock. "Sorry Twilight, I actually have to go, weather pony stuff. I know it is a storm, but I have to." Rainbow lied. Twilight smiled and nodded, grabbing the dishes and putting them into the silvery sink while Rainbow went out the door. She felt drops of water touch her skin, they felt like cold needles, making her mane wet and droopy. Lightning sounded and she knew what it meant. My master returns. She thought horrified to go and kill a pony and feed him. She sighed, it was back to business, and she knew, that meant more blood on her hooves. She looked down at a puddle and saw her reflection and the scar on her left cheek. She walked forward, she knew the perfect pony. A mean old pony who snapped at everypony, it would be better if he would just be nice instead of giving him to a shadow. She felt like she was cold hearted like ice. A tear dropped, but she continued. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ She came to the house and her breathing was fast and her heart beated with fear. She soothed and went up to the door, knocking lightly, her knife secretly in her saddle bag. He opened the door, his face wrinkled and his eye brows low in a squint. "What do you want?" He snapped at her. "Its raining, I can't get home, please let me in." Rainbow pleaded, but it was fake. "Fine!" He growled and let her in. As soon as the door closed, Rainbow grabbed her knife and lunged at the old earth pony. He cried in fear and soon Rainbow landed on him, and paused. "I am sorry." She whispered, a tear falling from her eyes as she plunged the knife down into the stallion's neck. The life drained from his blue eyes and blood poured, she picked up the body, but paused when she saw pictures. She walked toward them, staying in the pool of blood and looked. They were all happy and he was with his family, happy. More tears fell, so many had passed, only to be fed to something black hearted. She sighed and picked up the stallion, heading to Everfree Forest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ She had covered the wound and was arriving at Everfree Forest. It was dark and the short trees made it worst. She looked at the ground and saw some of the creatures tracks, probably scouting. There were claws marks that covered the trees and she knew it was a trail. She breathed calmly, letting herself sooth, this part was always scary. She picked up the body and went on, entering the Everfree Forest, following the deep gashes in the trees. She then came to an area a blood, he had marked it. She stopped as she saw Twilight trapped. Her mouth dropped and the body of the old pony fell and she looked. Twilight looked equally surprised. Rainbow knew the creature wasn't to hunt, only stay and wait for food. "Twilight?! What's going on here Black Shook!" Rainbow screeched, calling the creature's name. A large wolf-like figure staggered up, it was thinner from sleep, but it still looked strong. Blood luckily didn't fall from its fangs, suggesting it didn't dare touch Twilight. Black Shook laughed and looked at Rainbow. "Your still in work, just less, besides I wanted to fine dine on this little pony." Black Shook explained, going closer to the cage and touching Twilight under her chin, his claws not making marks. Twilight shuttered, and try to back away, but he kept doing he same thing. Rainbow felt hot red anger rage through her body, she wasn't scared. She didn't want her friend to die. "No! Listen, I am out, if you kill me, keep Twilight as your servant, if I win, then I win and we both live." Rainbow cried. Black Shook looked please, a long toothy smile forming on his face, revealing reddish stains on his fangs, as he backed away from the cage and came closer to Rainbow. She felt nervous, but kept calm and kept her position with a brave face. "I like it, yes. If you loose she becomes my servant and I feast on you, if you win, which I doubt, you get freedom." The last word lingered and Black Shook lunged. Rainbow was taken by surprised, she tried to dodge, but Black Shook hit her flank, making cuts that burned like fire. Rainbow huffed, and her eyes closed, but she didn't fall. She flew forward, but with one swing of his tail, Black Shook hit her to the side like a fly. "That... all... you... got!" Rainbow called, making an effort to shout. Black Shook laughed and didn't move, Rainbow bolted forward, using her knife put a cut on the left cheek of the beast, a scar like the one she had. He growled and hit her with a paw, but she drove the knife in, but it was sent across the ground. She huffed, running for it, Black Shook on her heals. Faster and faster, but as claws plunged into her back, it was over. All went black, and memories flashed before her eyes. The last thing she heard was Twilight's scream. "Rainbow!"
