The Skylanders were now preparing for their first Nightmare Night, its basically an occasion to Nightmare Moon, the dark entity that possessed Princess Luna which made Princess Celestia banish her to the moon for 1000 years. Celestia herself was in tears for 1000 years when that happened. But Celestia's sadness in losing Luna led to Faust recognizing it and giving Spike's egg to her as she slept. But on Nightmare Moon's return is when the bearers of the Elements of Harmony met their first Skylander, who was guarding the Ancient Castle of the Sisters.

But as far as Equestria's history goes, the Nightmare Night Celebration is a great time to be scared and have fun at the same time. But some of the Skylanders are preparing their costumes for the celebration at the Golden Oaks Library while the other Skylanders along with their EQG Allies were prepping at Sweet Apple Acres, Variant World and the Equestrian Isles. 

 At the Library, the Skylanders were picking their costumes to wear for the Nightmare Night Celebration. As Twilight went as Starswirl the Bearded, like last year, Spike went as a Dragon Prince, because of the necklace he wore and basically set in danger most of the time. Spyro turned into Mega Ram Spyro to serve as his costume while Cynder painted herself to look like a skeleton Dragoness, she basically named herself 'Skeletal Cynder' because of her costume. Chop Chop sheathed his swords and pulled out a steak fork and Grill lid, as well as a chef hat and apron, becoming Grill Master Chop Chop, because there is nothing more scary in Equestria than a Grill Master. Stealth Elf kept her Ninja suit on as she stayed Ninja Stealth Elf. Stump Smash grew an orange afro for the autumn and became Autumn Stump Smash. Slam Bam used his old Surf gear to dress as a Surfer and became Surfer Slam Bam. Zook painted himself blue and red and loaded his bazooka with Fireworks, calling himself Fireworks Zook. Although many other Skylanders were getting ready, the Variants and the EQGs were getting ready as well. Although EQG Twilight was still thinking about the defeat of the Golem when she and Voodood kissed. She basically dressed as Voodood because he didn't mind her dressing as him for Nightmare Night. 

 At Sweet Apple Acres where the Skylanders were getting prepared, Bouncer dressed as a Roboto-ball player, but he sported a large football instead of an actual Roboto-ball. Eye-Brawl sported a Pumpkin for a head now as EQG Applejack said,

"Now if there's a Giant-sized horse, Ya'll be a Headless Horseman."

Pumpkin Eye-Brawl said, "Very Funny, EQG Applejack."

Terrafin said, "Hey, at least I'm going as a Lifeguard because a Lifeguard was basically my formal job." 

The Skylanders appeared in their other forms while some Pony Skylanders dressed as their Skylander lovers because Applejack dressed as Terrafin while Fluttershy dressed as Camo because Camo became Thorn Horn Camo for Nightmare Night. They did know that EQG Fluttershy was learning the art of summoning animals from Zoo Lou, so she dressed as a Shaman's Apprentice. Thumpback dressed as Admiral Thumpback because he once worked on a ship while Tree Rex donned some Spooky Trees and became Spooky Tree Rex. They were all finally ready for Nightmare Night. 

 As the Skylanders gathered in Ponyville, they were met by Princess Luna along with Boom Jet who surprisingly remained by her side during the start of the celebration. But there was one new Undead Skylander who seemed lost in this scary occasion. Ray the Changeling has lived a life of adventure while trying to find his destiny until encountering the Skylanders. Now since he is now an Undead Skylander and he is now home, he really doesn't know what to do. As he tried to play a game, a group of fillies and colts yelled,

"CHANGELING!!! RUN!" The fillies and colts ran as Ray said, "But, I'm not a bad Changeling!" He sighed and went over to the bobbing for apples game. 

Spike and Ali Twilight observed as Spike said, "My brother is trying to get use to something like this."

Ali Twilight replied, "When he was going through his journey of self discovery, it was when he found more of the Swap Force. But now, he has no idea how to act."

Spike decided, "I should help him. He is my brother and he needs my help."

Ali Twilight nodded, "Then I should go find my original and EQG Twilight." 

After Twilight's Alicorn Variant left, Spike decided to go to the bobbing for apples game to meet his Changeling brother. He came up to him and said,

"Ray, I saw what happened at the Spider Toss. But you can't blame them for fearing you."

Ray replied, "But what should I do, Spike. Someponies fear Changelings and look at me." A cloud shot lightning down near Ray as Spike looked up and yelled,

"Rainbow Dash!" Rainbow Dash was laughing in her Shadowbolts suit as Spike retaliated with a Lightning strike which gave the Rainbow Mane Prankster a good shock.

Ray sighed, "Its just no use to make anypony like me. They seem to judge me by what I look like. Equestria has a problem with me."

Whirlwind overheard on what Ray was talking about, "That's quitter talk, Ray. My dad was a Feather-winged dragon and yet, my aunt and uncle didn't judge him by what he looked like, they judged him by his personality."

Ray replied, "It might look that way for dragons, but..."

Mega Ram Spyro said, "Hey, if you give up on making friends. Then what would Princess Celestia say about it."

Skeletal Cynder joined, "She wants you to make friends rather than be alone."

Ray realized, "You're right. I need to find a way to have a good time during Nightmare Night."

Twilight approached, "And I know just what to do." 

 At the Nightmare Moon Statue that showed Jet-Vac confronting Nightmare Moon, Spike and Ray were behind the statue as Ray said,

"You want me to do what?!" 

Spike replied, "You have the ability to shape-shift, so you can shape-shift into Nightmare Moon once the fillies and colts arrive to offer their candy."

Ray asked, "Why?"

Spike replied, "It worked when Aunt Luna had trouble with friendship, last year."

Ray thought about it and heard the trotting sounds of hooves as he said, "I'll do it."

Just as the children arrived at the statue to offer their candy, the Skylanders and EQGs were with them as well. As soon as the last child set his candy at the base of the statue, EQG Twilight signaled Skeletal Cynder and Ninja Warnado to make the wind around the statue. EQG Rainbow Dash signaled Princess Luna to use her Royal Canterlot voice. She said,

"Ponies of Equestria, you have made a generous offering. So I should be eating it instead of eating...." Nightmare Moon herself stood on the pedestal as she said, "YOU!!!"

The children were scared and thought that it was Princess Luna until they saw her and Boom Jet emerge from the bushes. They thought, 'If that was Princess Luna, then who was that on the statue?'

They realized that it was actually Nightmare Moon as they were scared and ran away. Nightmare Moon stepped off the pedestal and reverted back to Ray the Changeling. Spike said,

"That was excellent work, Ray!"

Ray asked, "Why was it excellent when I scared them?"

Princess Luna replied, "Because they would be back."

Ray asked, "To scream some more?" Until he felt a small hoof on his right fore hoof, it was a young earth pony colt, Pipsqueak as he said,

"Ray, that was an excellent scare you put up. Can you scare us again next year?"

Ray smiled, "Of course I can."

Pipsqueak went back to his friends, "He said yes, guys!"

Ray was shocked when all of the Skylanders, Variants and EQGs surrounded him as Spike said,

"See, they did like you, bro."

Ali Twilight said, "That is what Nightmare Night is about."

Skeletal Cynder said, "You just had to scare them on the right time."

Ray realized, "I like this night." 

 Ray now began to do two things, acting friendly to others and when it hits him, he scares some of the ponies for fun. When one pony was about to toss a spider, Ray appeared in the form of a Grublin Troll until he changed back which both he and the pony had a good laugh about. The children offered half of their candy to Ray. The changeling smiled to how his friends helped him out. Spike sat down near the Nightmare Moon Statue along with Twilight, Ali Twilight, EQG Twilight, EQG Spike, Dark Spike, Legendary Spike, Mega Ram Spyro, Skeletal Cynder, Princess Luna and Boom Jet as he wrote a letter to Princess Celestia,

"Dear Princess Celestia,
During last year's Nightmare Night, Princess Luna had trouble with friendship, but thanks to Twilight, she learned. But now, we found somepony who was having the same problem, My brother, Ray the Changeling. He had trouble finding out what friendship is suppose to be, but we helped with our teamwork. 

I'm happy to report that the same result from last year worked its way into this year. And even though we managed to stay true, we had to play along.

Your son, Spike the Dragon."

Spike was about to send off the letter until Rainbow Dash attempted a Lightning Strike at low altitude when the undead seem to appear on her cloud, she fled in fear which caught the group's attention. The cloud lowered to reveal Ray sitting on the cloud as he winked and laughed as the group joined him.
