The Girl Who Followed a Ghost

Forceful Responsibility

Ghost was content with his answer from Twilight, by this time it was just becoming night and Ghost was tired. He walked up to his room to see a surprise waiting for him. In his room sat a golden eyed gray filly that seemed to be talking to the wall. Ghost looked around and then back at the filly.

"Hey what are you doing in here?" he asked sounding confused at Onyx's presence in his room. "How did you get in here?"

"Princess Celestia told me that I'll be staying here from now on, and in your room," she said with a slight smile.

Ghost was mortified to hear this news, how could the princess just put a filly to stay with him in his room. He turned around ran all the way to Celestia's room as fast as silver bullet.

He burst through the princess's doors and caught her in his sight. "Celestia this isn't funny, why would you put that kid in my room to stay!?" he demanded.

Celestia turned around with a playful smile "Because well, she's your new daughter," she said light-heartedly.

"WHAT!?!?!" Ghost yelled out in rage so loudly that several guards came to peek their heads into the room to see what the commotion was about and to see if they were needed.

"Yes that's right Onyx is your new daughter and I did this because she needed a place to stay and well she looked as if she took a liking to you," she said turning back around to face the moonlit night.

"But--,"

"Enough! Im ordering you to take care of that filly!" Celestia demanded.

Ghost was ready to protest, but reluctantly gave in and bowed his head. "As you wish," he said before turning around to go back to his room.

"Oh and I think you should know that she sees ghosts," she said simply.

Ghost turned around and looked at Celestia "ok and I need to talk to you in the morning...anyway good night," he said softly, his head down.

Celestia sighed "there hasn't been a good night since Luna left..." she responded.

Ghost stiffened up before looking down and letting his ears flatten down "you're right..." he said before he left her room.

Ghost came back to his room to see Onyx looking out of his balcony at the night sky.

"Wow the night is really beautiful," she said in wonderment.

"You haven't seen anything..." Ghost said softly stepping up to sit next to her.

"You don't think the night sky is beautiful?" Onyx asked looking over at Ghost.

"They used to be, back when it's ruler was still here," he said sadly.

Onyx looked curiously at Ghost "what do you mean?" she asked scooting closer to him.

Ghost looked over at the filly with soft silver eyes before closing his eyes and sighing. "Nothing you're too young to understand right now," he said flatly.

Just as he spoke a tear left his eyes and dripped onto the floor.

Onyx looked at Ghost and hugged him tightly.

Ghost looked at the filly confused, but felt comforted because of her and returned the hug. "Go to sleep now," he said then nudging her back to his bed.

She smiled before nodding and plopping down in his bed.

Ghost stared back out at the night sky and began to sing the lullaby he sang for almost a thousand years. The tears began to flow as he sang. Every word overflowing with sadness.

Onyx watched and listened as he sang, feeling his pain and sorrow before closing her eyes to drift into her sleep.
