(SiC) Part 8 - They Will Know By Our Love

by Brian Jacko

Disaster Strikes

The next few weeks were a bit agonizing for Rainbow Dash. She had to fill out so much paperwork that Spitfire gave her and she had to give her two weeks notice for her sky clearing job. She didn't have the time to do both jobs. She would miss her former job, but this was her dream job and being paid to fly with the Wonderbolts was going to happen soon.

Rainbow Dash had spent hours upon hours working with Rarity to make sure that her Wonderbolt's uniform fit and felt just right. She didn't want it too loose so that it may hinder her performance, but not so tight that it would ride up in her crotch area while performing. The last thing that she wanted to think about was having to make a pit stop during her stunts to pull down at her clothing because it felt too awkward. Thankfully, Rarity knew what she was doing and was able to make her uniform feel perfect. All of her friends and Soarin' were there to watch Rarity make the magic happen. Her friends also came to see Rarity have a little fun with Rainbow Dash and give her an entire head to hoof make over. They were all impressed by how Rainbow Dash did not squirm her flank around in the seat with discomfort, but actually tolerated everything including the mud mask. Applejack said a few joking comments about putting mud on her face.

Rainbow Dash and Soarin' spent much of their time racing and practicing together for her first upcoming show with the Wonderbolts. She and Soarin' would be performing the grand finale together. They practiced together as often as they could and Soarin' felt that Rainbow had everything down to a science. He also felt that she was performing better than he was.

Rainbow Dash and Soarin' flew over to their special spot after having spent most of the day having fun races together in her new Wonderbolt's uniforms.

"You know what, Soarin'? After all of our time spent together, still to this day, I get butterflies in my stomach when I'm near you."

"I get that feeling even when you're not here and I just think about you," Soarin' replied.

"I think that's a really good sign," Rainbow said.

Soarin' looked up in the sky and said, "Hey, Dash. Who do you think would pile up all of those storms clouds to block out the sunshine? I heard that there isn't supposed to be another downpour for another week or so."

Rainbow Dash looked up and said, "Hey, I can help clear those storm clouds and bring a little sunshine into your life. Want to see a cool trick?"

"You bring that sunshine everyday into my life, whether it's stormy outside or not, but sure," Soarin' said. "Show me your trick."

"D'awww. Come on Soarin'! Don't butter me up too much!" She looked back up and said, "I can clear this sky in ten seconds flat!"

"Prove it," Soarin' said with a smirk.

Rainbow Dash spread her wings and took off to the sky.

Soarin' watched at how magnificent she looked in her new uniform.

Risk, and her friend Emmy, were peeking their two eyes above the clouds.

"Wow, I can't believe that she's going to fall for this, are you ready do to this?" Risk called out to her partner who was on the opposite side of the storm clouds.

"I'm ready. Let's get her the moment she comes between us," Emmy said. "If her God is real, then He'll protect her from this too, and if He does, then I'll believe in her God."

"This is going to be awesome!" Rainbow Dash said to herself. She pushed her Wonderbolts goggles down from her forehead and onto her eyes.

Emmy and Risk got into bucking position and the moment Rainbow Dash flew through the clouds, the two ponies on opposite sides of her bucked the clouds.

This sent off a chain reaction since the clouds were so close together and were touching each other.

Rainbow Dash was instantly hit from all sides of her body with lightning bolts. She dropped like a fly and twirled down toward the earth.

Soarin' instantly spread his wings out and ran towards her, but he tripped over a tree root that was sticking out of the ground. Soarin' hit the ground hard and watched in horror as Rainbow Dash fell closer to the ground. He got up as fast as he could and flew over to her, but it was too late. Before he could catch her, she hit the earth hard. Soarin' grabbed her and shook her gently. "Rainbow Dash! Are you ok? Please answer me!"

Emmy and Risk flew closer together and landed on a cloud next to one another. They looked down from the clouds at the sight.

Emmy was cracking up. "See! I told you that her God is a farce and that all of her beliefs are bogus! Isn't that hysterical? Where is her God now? God couldn't even protect her from this old trick." She elbowed her friend hard in the side in hopes that she would join in on the laughter.

Risk's stomach did flip flops. "Emmy, I think we really hurt her. I mean, she looks dead."

"Who cares?" Emmy said. "It's her own fault for believing in such a stupid idea like believing that there is a God in the first place. The world needs less ponies like her kind anyway." Emmy stuck out her hoof for her friend to pound and said, "Put it there! We should have a celebration."

"No," Risk said. "We're going to get sued and I'm really afraid of being arrested."

"They won't find out and even if they do, aren't you excited that we probably ruined her life for good? She won't be a Wonberbolt after all!"

"I have come to realize that she has done nothing wrong," Risk admitted.

"Nothing wrong!?" Emmy cried out. "Religious ponies are the whole reason why we have wars and problems! We did the world a favor by eliminating her chance at becoming a Wonderbolt so that she won't be a religious role model to fillies and colts and leading them into lies and confusion. We are the good guys here! Now come on! Get a hold of yourself! Let's scram and head to Manehatten!"

Tears welled up in Risk's eyes as she watched Soarin' sob over her body. She looked at her friend and said, "No. You go on and leave. I don't know what I'm going to do, but I feel really bad right now."

"Suit yourself. I just hope that you don't get caught or become like those religious losers." Emmy then took off to the east and Risk flew to the west.

Soarin' noticed the two ponies fleeing and he suspected that they were responsible for what had just happened to Rainbow Dash. Soarin's emotions were getting the better of him. If he wasn't with Rainbow Dash, he would be acting in a totally different manner. He slid the goggles off of her eyes and put them on her forehead in hopes to see that her eyes were open and moving, but they were closed. He scooped her up and flew her as fast as he could to the emergency room.
