The Dark Magic

(I don’t Own Friendship is Magic; Hasbro does.Enjoy!)

Celestia walked with a neat and calm atmosphere about her. Luna’s bedroom was her destination. Celestia, to her guards, looked casual, but inside, Celestia’s heart pounded rapidly. Earlier that day, or night rather, Celestia had begged her sister to lower the moon. But, Luna refused. She felt unappreciated. No one was awake in her night, and those whose dreams she entered did not acknowledge her for her services. Luna finally had enough. But the reason Celestia was afraid was because before Luna retreated to her bedroom, she seemed to be possessed by some sort of evil power. Celestia feared for Luna’s safety.
“I will make eternal night, and force our subjects to worship me!”
Luna’s words played in the white mare’s head. Celestia sighed. Eternal night was out of the question. Without the sun, the plants wouldn’t grow, and oxygen wouldn’t be made. The Equestrians would die out. Celestia would not let that happen.
Nearing Luna’s bedroom door, Celestia sensed something…odd. In fact, it was rather unsettling; especially during the night. Luna’s guards were also nowhere to be found. All Celestia could hear was the harsh sound of heavy breathing coming from the bedroom. The elder princess was now frightened about something else: with the power of darkness inside of Luna, she could be doing some rather disturbing things in her room.
Celestia’s yellow magic aura surrounded the doorknob to Luna’s bedroom door, and she entered slowly. When she was far enough inside, the door suddenly slammed itself shut.
“Luna,” the white mare called out, trying her best to stay calm. “I need to talk to you. Show yourself!”
“S i s t e r…” Luna’s voice slurred. “The power…it h u r t s…”
“Luna! I can help you break free from the darkness!”
“Foal…your Luna is g o n e…”
Celestia cringed at the change in Luna’s voice. Looking around, she saw that she was in some sort of dimension of darkness. But it wasn’t just that; strange imagery surrounded the elder princess. It was various images of pony faces, twisted and silently screaming in agony. They were colored a dark shade of blue, which fitted the mood of night. It took all of Celestia’s might to not succumb to her fear.
“My sister, you have to fight the dark power!” Celestia tried to convince her sister.
Luna, hidden by the darkness, watched her sister. Her eyes were narrowed, filled with hatred for her sister. The powers of darkness corrupted her mind so much, that Celestia kept shifting from the kind, loving sister she always was, to a complete monster in Luna's eyes.Luna's pupils shrank to tiny slits, and tears rolled down her cheeks.
“The power, Celestia…” Luna’s voice droned on. “It h u r t s…But I f e e l…g o o d…”
Celestia’s horn began to glow in an attempt to see Luna. However, this did nothing except illuminate the twisted pony faces. It was then Celestia noticed the outline of…ugh…a pony fetus within the faces. It made Celestia wonder what sick, demented thoughts the dark magic was giving Luna to inspire such art.
Just then, two forearms gripped Celestia’s neck, and a hiss filled her ears.
“I’m not Luna anymore, C e l e s t i a,” the dark pony whispered. “I am Nightmare M o o n.”
Celestia struggled against the now evil mare’s grasp. When she did so, she pinned Nightmare Moon to the ground. A blast of solar magic caused the dark dimension to slowly vanish, freeing Celestia. Both sisters were back in Luna’s bedroom. The moonlight shined on the younger alicorn’s face, revealing that she had indeed changed from her previous state. Nightmare Moon’s fangs gnashed at Celestia as she fought to get away. Seeing as the dark alicorn would only continue her plans of eternal night if she was freed, Celestia had no other option.
Banishment was the only answer.
Fleeing from her younger sister’s bedroom, Celestia galloped to the room of the Elements of Harmony. But Nightmare Moon was determined to contain the Princess of the Day, so she chased Celestia, her evil void consuming the castle as she ran.
“Ahh!” cried the Royal Guards as they were being consumed by the void.
Celestia skidded to a stop, realizing that her guards were in danger. So Celestia shot another beam of powerful magic at her sister, subduing the dark one.
“Celestia!” Nightmare Moon roared, her voice now taking a new tone. “You will bow down to me and my night!”
Celestia had no time to retort. She finally reached the room of the Elements and retrieved them. On her head rested the crown. The Element of Kindness was on her neck, and the rest of the elements took their positions on her legs as makeshift bracelets. Celestia turned to the room’s door, and there stood Nightmare Moon. Her horn glowed blue, ready to perform a dark spell.
“I love you, my sister,” Celestia whispered as the Elements activated, and a single tear rolled down her cheek.
The elements shot out a rainbow-colored beam of magic, while Nightmare Moon released a counterattack. The two beams met each other, and pushed against each other in an attempt to reach their destination. Nightmare Moon hissed as her head began to ache from the strain; the Elements’ magic was too powerful. The rainbow beam came closer and closer to her, and the dark alicorn began to panic.
“Sister! Don’t do this to me! Please!”
Celestia’s face was like stone as she watched the magic of the Elements cause Nightmare Moon to slowly disappear to her place of banishment: the moon. When the dark alicorn was finally gone, a regretful Celestia finally raised the sun.
