The Tale of Ghost

by GhostlyDarkness

The Lullaby

A cold breeze swept through the lifeless night with the moon glaring down onto the balcony of the stallion's room. His silvery eyes watching the white glowing moon. Tears slowly flowed out of his eyes as he continued watching it in the night sky.

"Im so sorry Luna...this was all my fault..." he whispered as the tears finally fell to the floor of his balcony.

The stallion closed his eyes slowly before singing the soft song he recited every night for the past hundred years. The thought of the song still made him cry, but he vowed he would do it for 1000 years until he could see his love.

Ghostly Lullaby
[verse]
How sorrow fills me at what I have done
How could I have led you away?
I say Im at fault, for what was to come
I should be in exile today

But through all the sadness I bring you this song
From the tears in my heart I cry
Til' Im at your side, singing this lullaby
I patiently wait each night

Once was a stallion who guarded the moon
Who found love with its princess night
The love that they shared was so very strong
It could not be broken through all of time

But darkness and hate took hold of thy princess
And made her turn on those she loved
Consumed in hatred, she lashed out in anger
And attacked the one who protected her first

[chorus]
Lullay dear Luna, good night love of mine
Sleep now in moonlight and space
May this sweet symphony reach you in sleep
and ease you your time of pain
I sing this to you with love in my heart
With my soul I cry day by day
"Luna you're loved so much more than you know
Forgive me for being so blind"

[verse]
Unable the stallion was to stop thy princess
binded by love he was still
It was up to princess of the sun
to banish her into the cold and the chill

But such is the pain that the stallion endured
watching his love in exile
May her past be forgotten through strokes of time
and forgiven through compassion and kind

[chorus]
Lullay dear Luna, good night love of mine
Sleep now in moonlight and space
May this sweet symphony reach you in sleep
and ease you your time of pain
I sing this to you with love in my heart
with my soul I cry day by day
"Luna you're loved so much more than you know
May troubles be far from your mind
and forgive for being so blind"

Just moments after singing the last few words the stallion collapses to the moonlit bathed floor with streams of tears flowing out of his eyes. He slowly looked back up at the shining moon before a soft breeze grazed the tip. The breeze seemed to carry the soft sound of a voice.

"Ghost....ghost....I love you...." was what he heard before the wind stopped and silence filled the night.

Ghost wiped his tears to stand back up looking at the moon with a smile.

"I'll wait for you as long as it takes Luna..." he said before returning to his bed for his slumber.
