//------------------------------// // Twilight and The Bat // Story: Twilight and Batman // by Foxes33 //------------------------------// 1. Twilight and The Bat It was the afternoon, and five friends were heading for Twilight's room in the large Canterlot castle. There friend had recently became a princess of Equestria and after having to get her crown back from Sunset Shimmer stealing it and going through the mysterious mirror to a new world, she had been acting weird. The halls had a high roof and the colors seemed bright from being cleansed daily. There was a red shag carpet that just went down the center of the hall, and banners. The windows allowed sunlight to stream in. "What do y'all think Twilight wants?" Applejack asked, somewhat curious to see if they just happened to know. "Who knows?" Rainbow sighed, shrugging her shoulders. Applejack just smiled and knocked on the door, kind of happy to finally find out what was going on with there royal friend. She knocked loudly to make sure Twilight could hear, but then there was no answer. "Twilight darling, you there." Rarity asked, pushing her way to the front. There was no reply. The five friends became nervous, there friend usually opened the door on the first knock. They all had a feeling there was something wrong, it was just so usual. Soon Applejack opened the door slowly and peered into the dark room. It was hard to see with the darkness almost blocking there sight. It would take a few minutes for there eyes to adjust to it. Four of the ponies walked in well Pinkie bounced of course, like the enthusiastic pony she was. The room was a mess, but in the corner there was a dim light and a figure. "Twilight?" Rainbow said towards the dim light. Fluttershy who was somewhat frightened, stayed behind her friends, not wanting to get too close it almost seemed. There was a strange machine with a large screen and a small idem that made a small white thing move across the screen, there were also buttons with letters. Twilight hovered over it, until she turned her head to face her friends. her mane was a mess and she looked sleep deprived. "Hey girls." She croaked, her voice sounding parched. "Twilight, what are doing in the dark, and what is that thing?" Pinkie asked as she jumped up and down. Twilight went into a coughing fit from the fact her voice was parched. Fluttershy walked towards Twilight's bed stand and got the glass of water, taking it to her. "Twilight, I think you need this maybe." Fluttershy whispered in a concerned voice, before backing away. Some of the ponies weren't focus on Twilight and were observing the room, it was dark, and the bed was a mess. The blankets were tossed on the floor, there were books on the ground, which was surprising considering this was Twilight. Applejack felt a shiver go up her spine, it wasn't really fear, but yet this was creepy. "So... Twilight, why are we here?" Applejack asked. "Oh you will find out." Twilight explained a creepy smile forming on her face. Applejack was confused until something hit her head, and she landed with a thud. Further down in the catacombs under Canterlot, there seemed to be something even more wrong. The normal cave system was instead like a home, but it was average and gave an unsettling feeling. The floors and walls were still cold stone that brought a shiver to the five mares in a cage. Slowly the blackness dissipated from Rainbow's eyes, she was the first one awake. She got up in extreme pain, she didn't know why, but this place was strange, all she could remember was a quick black figure that knocked out the other four. Rainbow couldn't help, but to move slowly, she could see the other four were still unconscious. She looked at them, seeing Rarity with something around her, it looked like a black hex. Rainbow wasn't sure, but guessed it was dark magic, the shape just seemed like it was from the depths of hell. Fluttershy had a hex on her wings and by her guess she did too. Applejack and Pinkie were unharmed, no hexes or anything, and Rainbow almost wished she were them. "Twilight? Where are you? What's going on?" She called into the endless darkness. There was no answer and Rainbow just gave up at trying to find the answers for now, she needed help, this wasn't something for one pony. She settled herself down on the floor and waited for a half of an hour until Fluttershy finally began to stir. She flipped onto her stomach and looked at Rainbow, whose head had lifted from the slight noise. "Glad to see someone is awake." Rainbow said, trying to make the situation look a lot better then it was, but she already knew it was bad, Fluttershy just nodded and walked over to her fellow pegasus. "Do you know what happen? Who was that? It wasn't even a species that is known." Rainbow Dash asked, hoping her friends prior knowledge of animals would assist in solving the case. "I-I... don't know. I was the last one knocked out, but I did recognized it... well accept for Twilight, I am worried Rainbow." Fluttershy said in her hushed voice. "Fluttershy, I honestly think Twilight has something to do with this. There is something wrong with her ever since she returned through the mirror." Rainbow Dash started, "After the day she came back, she hadn't been seen much, no pony knows why. She seems paranoid, and well, insane." Fluttershy wanted to cry, she didn't want to agree, but as the tears tried to break through she nodded, knowing it was true. Rainbow Dash came closer and put her wing on Fluttershy's back. "Don't worry Fluttershy, there is still five of us, there are maybe two on the other side, but we still out number them." Rainbow explained, offer Fluttershy her best smile, however it almost seemed hard to smile from this grim situation. Fluttershy also tried to smile, but it was truly hard. They waited for the other ponies to wake up, but as only two more rose, it seemed that Applejack was hit the worst. They didn't talk, only laid beside there unconscious friend. The dungeon was cold and no pony talked nor smiled, finding it too hard, until Applejack finally moved. Her head lifted and she first say Rainbow and Fluttershy sleeping side by side. She looked around to see her other two friends, smiling at her, happy she was awake. "Oh Applejack. Nice to see your awake." Pinkie said, trying to be enthusiastic, but even Applejack could see through her fake smile. Rarity had gone over to the two sleeping pegasi and nudged them, Fluttershy and Rainbow yawned in unison and smiled when they saw Applejack awake, yet they still seemed groggy. "Nice to see your all awake." A familiar croaky voice said. They all looked to see Twilight, her mane still raged and any pony could see the insanity in her eyes. There was a faint outline of a large black figure behind her, and all the ponies gasped. It was the one from the before, perhaps to finish them off. "What's with this Twilight?!" Rainbow yelled enraged, she flew forward, but fell, whimpering in pain. The other four ponies in the cell gasped, surprised at what had happened to Rainbow Dash. Applejack got up fast, almost too fast and just about knocked herself over. However she retained balance and assisted the sky blue pegasus to her feet and looked at the chuckling Twilight. "That ain't funny! You hurt Rainbow Dash!" Applejack growled at her. "Tisk, tisk Applejack. This is the most fun I have ever had, besides I am with a hero after all." Twilight said in a giggly voice, "This is also only the beginning." Applejack cocked her head, and realized she meant the black figure, and stood silence, helping Rainbow keep her footing. "You can't keep us her!" Rarity cried, already knowing that Twilight would have done something to her magic. Twilight laughed. "Oh I believe I can, I am on this side of the bars and your on the other." Twilight mocked and with that she turned to leave. "Hey... come back here! I am... not done... yet." Rainbow called faintly. All that was there was a cackle that bounced off the walls, and they all watched as Twilight left with the mysterious figure following. It left a shill going down all the girl's spines, it was bone truly chilling. Rainbow Dash walked, slightly wincing, and Applejack stayed at her side. "Don't worry, I am fine now." Rainbow assured her. Applejack just nodded, and let her move forward to look through the think iron bars. They were clean, but it was too hard for them to break. "Does anyone know what that thing is?" Rainbow asked concerned, turning back to the other ponies. They all nodded no in unison, the thing was never seen before in Equestria by Rainbow's guess. They could only wonder where they were and what that was. Rainbow just sighed, they all knew they were trapped. "We need a plan." Applejack declared, looking up from the ground. The team smiled, knowing they needed determination to get through this, it was the only way to survive this. They all nodded in agreement, trying to keep wide smiles on there faces. Rainbow glanced back, she couldn't think of anything at the moment. "I will be a lookout, we don't know when they will be back, or even if they left." Rainbow said and looked through the iron poles into the darkness. She couldn't see far, but it was needed and they all knew, they couldn't find out there plan or they would be trapped here forever. She could hear her heart beat with slight fear, only because she had no idea what was going to happen to them. Rainbow had a hypothesis, that going through the mirror had caused Twilight to loose her mind, but hat didn't explain the strange creature tat may have came through the mirror with her. She could hear the hush whispers of the others, but could make out the words, besides her focus was taken away from them and on the eternal darkness and her thoughts. We could die, however I can't be negative. The team needs to be strong, that includes me. If I weaken the team weakens. I have to stay strong. Rainbow thought and kept her post at the front of the cage. The was when she saw the black figure and the black figure alone.
