In the Crystal Empire, what seemed like a perfectly nice day, wasn't all that great for a certain prince. At the top of the Crystal Empire Palace, on the balcony, Shining Armor was there looking depressed. He would usually be happy and such since he's with his wife, Princess Cadence, or the fact that every pony in the empire was perfectly alright and nothing bad happening at all, but this isn't one of those times. Since he woke up from his recent dream he couldn't help but fell sad, since because of what his dream was about.
He stared blankly at the field outside of the Crystal Empire, that was until Princess Cadence came in.
"Shining Armor?" Princess Cadence then got his attention. He then looked at her as she said "I didn't see you this morning, what are you doing out here?"
After she said that he then looked away from her and back to the place he was originally looking at. Doing that made Cadence more suspicious about what he was thinking.
"I know when something's bothering you, so why don't you tell me?"
Still not looking at her he spoke. "I don't want to talk about it."
"Come on honey, you can tell me anything."
Knowing Cadence for a while now, Shining Armor knew that she won't stop until he finally confessed. Not knowing what else to do he finally admitted what he was thinking. "Well..................when I was sleeping last night, I dreamed about my worst fear ever."
"Which was?" After she asked that she saw a tear run down Shining Armor's face. She then got closer to him and wrapped her left hoof around him, making him look at her straight in the eyes. "Which was?"
Shining Armor then wiped the tear away. "It was about my little sister, Twilight." Shining Armor looked at Cadence and knew that she knew that there was more to be said. "Last night I dreamed that Twilight didn't want me anymore and that she never wanted me to begin with."
"What the...Canterlot? How did I get here?" Shining Armor asked himself
"Better question is, why are you here?"
Shining Armor looked at saw Twilight. Shining Armor then made his way towards her. "Twily, thank Celestia you're here."
He then placed his hoof on her, only to have her shrug it off. "I asked, why you were here."
"I don't know, I don't know how I got here. All I know is-
"Is that your leaving now." Twilight interrupted. "Reason why is because I don't want to see you again."
Shining Armor then looked shocked to hear that, and out of all the ponies in the world, why did Twilight say that to him. "What...why are saying this?"
Twilight then faced him. "I don't need a reason, I just don't want to see you anymore."
"Twilight why are you saying this? I thought you loved me."
"Love, that a funny way to say 'hate'. You actually thought I always 'loved' you all this time, think again." Twilight then started walking away. "Bye Shining Armor."
Shining Armor felt his heart breaking every step she makes. "Twilight." She then got farther away. "Twilight." She then couldn't be seen again. Shining Armor then just stood there. "Twilight." He silently said while sobbing. He then broke down crying.
Cadence was then heartbroken after hearing that. She hoped that, that was the end, but it wasn't.
"After I woke up I realized something. At the wedding she asked if she was important to me." Tears then started running down his face. "Now I'm asking myself if I'm important to her."
After he said that Cadence made sure that he looked at her straight in the eyes. "What are you talking about? The two of you grew up together, of course you're important to her." Hearing her say that made his eyes move away from her's, but then she something that might help him. "It's just your mind playing tricks on you. You just need to keep calm and remember that she loves you no matter what."
After she said that he stopped crying. He took a deep breath and then spoke. "Maybe you're right. I mean it's like that since the day she was born."
"Really?" Cadence asked.
"Really! From the moment I first saw her I nearly lost my mind, though I did keep what I was thinking hidden so I wouldn't scare my parents. Although I just couldn't believe it...I had a little sister."
A young Shining Armor looked at the many ponies in Canterlot and their little siblings and sighed. "I wish I had a brother or a sister." He said as he continued sighing.
"Shining Armor?" Shining then looked to see who said that and saw his parents. "Your mother and I have something to tell you." His father said. After hearing the news Shining then got excited.
Several months later
Shining Armor was waiting outside his mothers hospital room. "It's been hours, I hope everything's alright." Shining said to himself.
Just then he heard his father call to him. "Shining, you can come in now." Shining then went inside the room and once he did he then stood there staring excitedly and in awe over the filly in his mothers hooves.
"Meet your new sister, Twilight Sparkle." His mother said holding Twilight.
Shining then had an expression on his face that told his parents that he would like to hold her, and his mother aloud him to do that. Shining the reached out his left hoof, grabbed his sister, and nuzzled next to her making her smile.
"After I had to give her back to my parents I felt sad, that was until they told me that I will have more time with her since I was her brother." Shining Armor then felt happy after that.
Cadence then started shedding tears after what she just heard. even after the second Twilight was born they were already best friends. The thought of that makes Cadence so happy.
"You know." Cadence then stared straight at Shining Armor for what he was about to say next. "Before I became a royal guard and before I met you, Twilight meant everything to me. Out of all the members of my family, she was the one I loved the most. When she upset, or scared, or something I would prove how much I care for her by playing that tune I made for both her and I."
Cadence then took notice of the last thing he said. "You made a tune for both you and her."
Realizing what he just said, he then felt embarrassed. He then started blushing and turned his face away from Cadence. "You weren't supposed to hear that."
"Oh now I have to know." Cadence said eagerly.
"I guess I can't keep anything from you. Well when Twilight was a filly and I was a colt, we had times when we were anything but happy. I saw this when I saw it in Twilight and I had an idea to calm us both down when we feel either scared, upset, nervous, or stressed. And that idea was to make a special tune for both her and me, played by both a classical guitar and a bassoon. And to tell you the truth I had to enchant the bassoon because I really didn't know how to play that instrument."
Cadence couldn't help but chuckle after that. "Though I wonder how can you play the classical guitar if you only have hooves?"
"That's what I always hear and I always say that, that's what a skill comes in for. I still have the instruments, if you're wondering why it's because I never know when I might need them again."
"Why didn't you play it then when I saw you upset?" Cadence asked.
"I haven't played it in a long time and I'm afraid that I might have forgotten how to play it." Shining admitted.
"Well you never know unless you try, besides I would like to hear this special tune."
Shining then thought about it and gave in. "I'll be right back." Shining then left to get the instruments. A few minutes went by and Shining finally came back with them. "Well hear they are. You sure you want to hear it?"
"I wouldn't be asking if I didn't want to." Cadence said.
"Alright then." He then grabbed the classical guitar and was about to play, but then stopped. "Sorry, I'm really nervous and my heart is beating really fast."
"And what did you use to do when you used to fell nervous?" Cadence asked.
Shining then thought about it and realized what she meant. "You made your point."
Shining Armor then cleared his throat, placed an enchantment spell on the bassoon then started playing.
As Cadence was listening to this she felt like her heart felt warmer and perfectly calm to the wonderful music. "It's so beautiful."
"This tune helped through many things. When Twilight was crying when she gets hurt, when she gets scared of thunderstorms, when she was nervous to go to Celestia's castle to train in magic. This tune helped her and me through many things and I would always play this for her when she would want to hear it." He said as he started shedding tears.
"This makes you think about her, doesn't it?" Cadence asked.
He then nodded as more tears shed and as more memories came flooding in. When she was hurt by bullies and needed, when she got scared one night and wanted to sleep with her brother, when needed to calm down when she was stressed about going to Celestia's Castle, almost everything.
I love you Twilight, I am lucky to call you my Little Sister Best Friend Forever.
