//------------------------------// // Mare in the Moon // Story: My Little Pony: Friendship is a Limerick // by Amante //------------------------------// The tale to tell starts with a tome, With a place, simply put, polychrome. Pony populated, all were elated. Twas truly a place to call home. This was the land of Equestria. Ruled by Luna and Celestia. Both were very tall and each had a big ball and made their subject’s lives bestia. During the day they went out and played, but at night on their beds did they lay. This made Luna sad, which in turn made her mad. So she said, “I shall hold the sun at bay!” Her dear Luna had crossed a line, Her ponies were running out of time. A really big rainbow had put on a show, and punished her for her great crime The Elements of Harmony, legend to the average pony sent Luna to the moon to await her own doom. Victory won without ceremony. On the throne did she sit, alone. Hoping one day she could atone. She had no time to grieve, duty gave no reprieve. But this was something no one had known. Back to the present, under a tree, our heroine, Twilight, you would see. The story familiar, she found quite peculiar. So she rushed back home with great urgency. She climbed the steps of her tower, and pushed the door open with great power. She bumped into Spike and gave him a fright, and told him, “Now is not the hour!” Through the many shelves they had searched for a book helpful to her research. On top, Spike had found it, which she grabbed in a fit, then placed it upon her book perch. The Mare in the Moon it did say, in a thousand years she’d have her day. Night everlasting, the concept appalling. A warning for the Princess now on its way. A reply came with impressive haste but what it read left her disgraced. “Stop reading those books and leave your little nook. I have something else for you to be engaged.”  In Ponyville did they soon arrive. A friend to make, she did strive. A little pink mare, with pink fluffy hair gasped and ran away when she said, “Hi.” Twilight’s jimmies were now rustled, she made her way with no kerfuffle. “Let’s get this over with, and let’s make it quick.” she said, feeling more disgruntled. She soon found herself on a large farm, which had quite a rustic, rural charm. On the side she did see, a pony kick a tree, who approached her and grabbed her forearm. “Howdy, I’m Applejack!” she did say, straining Twilight’s arm the whole way. Exchanging pleasantries, with no deficiencies. For lunch she was then asked to stay. Foods from apples she was presented in many ways she had not expected. They came with their namesakes, which made her headshake. All of it, she found unconceited.   She proceeded to make her leave, there was nothing here to achieve. She was stopped by a filly with a bow that was silly who had eyes you would not believe. Now back in town, she had one regret: Her tummy was too big for a vignette. A blue pony that flew, whose flight was askew hit our hero and got them both wet. She apologized as she got up, getting her dry as she tried to makeup. Her name was Rainbow Dash. The reason for the crash was a trick that she tried to pickup. To be a Wonderbolt was in fact, the reason why she was so sidetracked. Twilight then gave a sneer, "Dare to keep the sky clear?" She cleared the skies in ten seconds flat. When Rainbow Dash had finally gone, Twilight decided to move on. The inside of town hall had looked like a ball. For a mare in the center, Spike did fawn. She turned and looked at Twilight’s hair, her face was then covered by despair. She gave a loud yelp. This mare needed help. And so offered her eye for flair. They found themselves at her boutique, from there she began to critique, plenty of outfits which passed in a blitz. Finally, she found one truly unique. Canterlot was said whilst fitting a dress, onto Twilight, this added more stress. Rarity was her name, fashion, her game. Being from there, she was impressed. Twilight managed to get away. To more of that, she would say ‘neigh.’ Back to her objective, her mind ever perceptive, heard the sound of birds not too far away. She came across a mare that was yellow, making birds sing songs that were mellow. She tried to say ‘hi,’ but the birds, they did shy, and so did their flying pony fellow. She tried to start a conversation,  in order to make friendly foundation. But when she saw Spike, Twilight, she did strike, just to get closer to the dragon. Twilight then gave a great big sigh, as she said her name was Fluttershy. When they had gotten inside, to go with them she tried. Twilight pushed her out and said, “Goodbye!” Twilight’s rudeness Spike did chastise She said stalling was also unwise. The threat of Nightmare Moon would be here very soon. The lights came on and yelled was, “Surprise!” What she wanted to say was unmannerly, when a pony went to her, very bubbly. It was the pink mare from way back over there who organized all this tomfoolery. “You’re new here so I threw a party!” she said in a way very hearty. Twilight was not amused, she wanted to get soused. But instead poured a bottle too spicy. She charged up the stairs, straight to her room, and looked outside to stare at the moon. She hoped she was wrong about Nightmare’s swan song, and she that could go home, oh so soon. Not too soon, Spike had called her out. It was time now to be up and about. Celebration begins, she had needles and pins, For Nightmare, did the princess account? As fate would have it she was right. That as foretold, on this very night, Nightmare Moon returns, And then they would learn, that to wrong her is truly a fright. And so she stood, dark and ominous. No more light, bright and treacherous. Gone was her sister, the annoying little blister. Her evil reign, grand and calamitous.
