//------------------------------// // Wake Up // Story: Farewell Party // by TheExhaustedBrony //------------------------------// Pinkamena, remember that we love you and we'll always be with you, ready to welcome you back into our lives with open arms. Pinkie awoke from the same dream again. Ever since she could remember, she's always had the same dream. She'd be floating in a vast open space and someone would always say the same thing to her. It changed every so often from being a man or a woman. Last night, it was the woman. "It never ends. I wonder why?" Pinkie hopped out of her bed, the wooden floor creaked under her hooves. She walked over to her dresser and looked at her reflection. She squinted and focused her eyes on a single hair that was out of place in her already poofy mane. Not even Rarity's expert eye would ever notice something like that. She had just put the hair back I to place when she heard Mrs. Cake calling to her, "Pinkie Pie? Are you awake? There's somepony here to see you!" "Yes, Mrs. Cake! I'll be down shortly!" Pinkie hopped onto the railing and slid down to the main floor of Sugarcube corner. She hopped off the end and did a graceful twirl, landing on one hoof, instantly striking a pose. "Oooh, very nice Pinkie!" Mrs. Cake applauded. "Why thank you! Now, what can I do for you?" Mrs. Cake directed Pinkie Pie's attention to five ponies standing at the counter. "Hi, Pinkie!" The five greeted simultaneously. "Omygosh! Hiya girls! What a surprise! I'm so glad you're here! Not that I had any parties planned for you to be invited to, but I'm still so so happy!" The party pony was elated to see all of her closest friends here. "Actually, we've got something planned for you, Pinkie." Twilight explained. "Oh! What is it? Is it cake? I bet it's cake, isn't it?" Twilight laughed, "well, there is cake, but that's not the surprise." Just as Twilight finished her sentence, Mrs. Cake left for the kitchen and returned shortly with a large link birthday cake. On top of it stood a little plastic figure that resembled Pinkie. Pinkie let out her signature gasp and pulled everypony in for a big hug. "Thank you so much you guys! This just makes me wanna love you even more than I already do!" Please... Please wake up, my child... Pinkie looked around in confusion, "umm, did anyone hear that?" Everypony looked at each other with a confused expression on their faces. Pinkie, it's time. Do you want some cake?" Fluttershy offered. However, her kind words didn't distract Pinkie from what she had just heard. "N-not this second, Fluttershy. I swear I heard a voice." Applejack walked over to Pinkie with a big smile and put her hoof on her back, "it's time to wake up. C'mon, sugar cube, it's your party. Why don't you have some cake?" Pinkie Pie began breathing faster as her anxiety levels increased, "g-g-girls... t-this isn't funny... What's going on?" "Now darling, don't worry yourself about it," Rarity used her magic to take a slice of the cake and held it out for Pinkie, "lIt's about time you ate a slice of your cake, wouldn't you agree?" What kind of party is this? Why do they want me to eat the cake so badly? They keep saying that it's time. Time for what? "It's time for you to move on, Pinkamena. Your friends are all here to say goodbye." Rainbow Dash answered as if she knew what Pinkie was thinking. Pinkie Pie's heart was beating at a rate that would normally kill a healthy pony. She was frightened beyond all belief. "Who are you guys? You can't be my friends! My friends aren't scary!" Pinkie Pie said, backing into a corner. Her attempts to distance herself from the five ponies was fruitless as they slowly moved in. "Pinkie, it's time for you to wake up. You gotta wake up." "W-wake up? What do you mean? I am awake!" Pinkie Pie shouted. Rainbow Dash shook her head, "you've been hearing voices in your dreams. They're calling to you. She's calling to you. You've got to wake up, Pinkamena Diane Pie. You've got so much to live for." I miss you... We all miss you, Pinkamena. Please come back to us! The voice rang in her ears. She had no clue what was going on. She just wanted to have fun with her friends, here in Equestria. This seemed like a farewell party, something she never wanted, especially from her friends. Pinkie could hear the voice, this time it was sobbing. "Pinkie, she's crying. She loves you very much. Please, go back to them." Twilight said. "Who's crying? Who loves me?! Twilight, you're not making any sense. None of you are! Tell me what's going on!" Pinkie now had tears running down her face as she screamed. "Goodbye, Pinkie Pie." Twilight's words hit Pinkie right in the heart. "Wai-" Before Pinkie could finish, she immediately found herself laying on something rather soft, yet itchy and was wrapped in something of similar material. She couldn't feel her arms, legs, tail, or anything for that matter. She only had enough strength to open her eyes. She looked up to see three strange beings standing above her. All three of them were crying. She looked around to see that she was not in Sugarcube corner. This sent her into a full blown panic once again. "W-w-where am I?! Where are my friends?! What happened to my home?!" Two of the beings could answer her questions. They were too busy crying. One was wearing a white coat and he bent over and shined a bright light into her eyes. "Welcome back, Pinkamena. It's been four years since the accident." The man said. This didnt assuage her fears at all in the slightest, "what are you talking about? What accident?" The man took off a pair of glasses that sat gently on his nose, "four years ago, you got caught in a rock slide and you went into a coma." "Where's Twilight?" Pinkie asked. "Who?" "Twilight Sparkle. You know? The smartest pony in Ponyville?" How could he not know who Twilight Sparkle is? She's the most well known unicorn in all of Equestria! "Ponyville? I don't think that there's anyone by the name of Twilight Sparkle here. You mentioned your friends earlier, can you tell me more about them?" Pinkie was still could not find herself able to control her body and began talking while still staring at the ceiling, "we'll, first there's Twilight Sparkle. She's a unicorn who loves reading. Then there's Fluttershy. She's a shy Pegasus, but she is the nicest pony you'd ever meet in your whole life. Then there's-" "Excuse me, but did you say pony?" These words only made Pinkie even more confused, "yes I did. We're all ponies." The man in the white coat shook his head. He got up and brought the two crying creatures aside and started whispering something to them. The woman just fell to the floor, covering her face. The man just stood there with his head hanging. The doctor came back and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a mirror and held it in front of Pinkie. What she saw destroyed her world, all of Equestria shattered into a million pieces, along with her heart. "W-what am I?"
