Part 2
Prologue
About a thousand years ago, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna fought Discord, the Master of Chaos and Disharmony. Their victory over Discord was not as complete as one would like. Instead of thoroughly destroying Discord, the attack merely turned him into stone. After-effects of his insidious magic, including the entire Nightmare Moon fiasco, lingered for years before they were fully eliminated.
Discord's stone prison was impermanent, at best. Discord only needed a little bit of chaos to free himself from life as a statue. In his opinion, this was not too much for him to ask for. Heck, even three fighting schoolchildren would be enough to free Discord!
Discord's wishes were at long last granted, when Nightmare Moon and her partner landed on the grounds by Canterlot Castle. Together, they created enough chaos to free a hundred dragonequi.
Discord's first instinct was to run wild and cause massive chaos. His plan was to turn the moon into green cheese, then force all the cows in Equestria to jump over it. Meanwhile, a swarm of blue rabbits in top hats would attack the castle, demanding free carrots. And to top off all the fun with animals, Discord wanted to use giant slingshots to throw angry birds at bad piggies.
Before Discord put any of his plans into motion, however, he saw the two evil alicorns take an Elements of Harmony blast, directly to the face. They were instantly defeated.
Oh, dear, Discord thought. Celestia has figured out a way to make the Elements of Harmony more powerful. This simply will not do at all.
A brief examination revealed that the Elements of Harmony were spread across six ponies, as opposed to being wielded by two alicorns. Discord smiled at this obvious weak point. The Elements would almost certainly fail, if one of the six ponies was neutralized.
Heck, why couldn't Discord neutralize all of the Element Bearers? That would be simple enough. After all, he was the one who invented the spell to turn ponies cold and gray. All he had to do was work his magic, and the Elements of Harmony would be more like the Elements of Anger!
Elements of Disharmony? Elemental Uncooperation? Discord thought. No, no! My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic!
Discord laughed as he walked away. Celestia had done him a favor, by spreading out the Elements of Harmony! Toying with six ponies would be much more fun than toying with two!
