//------------------------------// // CUTIE MARK WING-BREAKERS // Story: Daring the Scoots // by FlutterPal //------------------------------// Scootaloo lifted up the next book to the Daring Do series. It was blue, undusted, and definitely ready for Scoots to read. She opened up the blue book, and was almost immediately greeted by a sweet smell of sap with a hint of old book smell. Scootaloo smiled, flipping through the pages until she reached the beginning. Whispering the words to herself, she thought of herself going through that forest and pulling off all those stunts. Flipping page after page, and reading word after word, Scootaloo reached the end of the book where Daring Do got the artifact and escaped the forest. Amazing, Scootaloo thought. What would it be like to be Daring Do? EXACTLY like the mare? No cuts, no bruises- just a hat to clean out. She really wanted to be like her, and to end each adventure awesomely. ' “Scoots! It’s time for you to crusade!” Rainbow Dash called. Scootaloo ran out of her room and asked Rainbow to take her to the ground. Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and said, “Sure.” After Scootaloo rode on Dash down to the ground, she dropped her off in front of Sweet Apple Acres. “Thanks, sis!” she called. “Have fun,” Rainbow Dash responded. Scootaloo watched Dash fly away then went to get Apple Bloom, telling her to get more supplies and to once again meet at the Everfree Forest. Same with Sweetie Belle, who said she would not forget Opal this time. After that the little orange filly went to the zoo to pick up her order for big cats. The non-tamed ones, to be exact. After HOURS of paperwork Scootaloo got the workers to set the animals each in a certain spot in the Everfree Forest. She smiled at her work, and was even more excited when her friends came with the supplies. “Ok,” she said. “Let’s build this.” *************************************************** Scootaloo looked at the beautiful structures in front of her. She was very satisfied with her work and her friends’ work too. Sweetie Belle looked at her with worried eyes. “Are you sure you want to do this, Scootaloo? This is one of her most dangerous adventures, you know.” Apple Bloom looked towards the forest and gulped. “Ah bet ah could never go through a forest like that,” she said, pointing to the forest with concerned eyes on Scootaloo. The orange filly Pegasus rolled her eyes, a clear sign she thought she could do this. “Come on guys, oh, and set the stop watch when I go in, ok?” Scootaloo said. Sweetie Belle shrugged at Apple Bloom then looked at Scootaloo. “Well, okay,” she said and with that Sweetie got the stop watch ready. At this cue Scoots readied herself at the entrance to the adventure. “One,” “Two,” “THREE!” The orange Pegasus plunged into the dark forest and began her adventure. Dodging as many arrows as she could, Scootaloo went into the next part: the traps. Nets and sticks cracked under her hooves, with axes swinging down on her from above. An arrow scratched her side, leaving some blood coming out of the wound. Scootaloo could hear some timber wolves from the distance, along with the cries of her friends still wishing her good luck. But Scoots was still in the trap zone. She tripped on one of the trip wires on to a sharp rock, leaving a giant scratch on her arm. Luckily, Scootaloo got up and ran away before the trap door fell from under her. Finally, the filly left the trap part and into the animal part. Snakes slithered from the trees and eagles swooped down to catch her. She screamed, and then the non-tamed big cats got in her way and threw her to the side. Scootaloo fell on a rock on one of her wings, and she heard the wing break with a little, crack. Scootaloo felt lots of pain in her left wing form, making her eyes tear up a little. Squeezing her mouth shut, Scoots tried to get up and run away from the beasts that did this, but the pain in her wing was too much. The big cat stood over the cowering filly, looking satisfied with his dinner. “HELP!” Scootaloo called. “ANYPONY! PLEASE!” Tears flowed down her cheeks when all of a sudden, a rainbow wisp streaked across the sky then down on the big cat’s head. It ran away, and the rainbow wisp picked her up to bring her to Scoot’s cloud home. Scootaloo was set down on the ground endless tears going down her cheeks and her wing in horrible pain. She looked up to see Rainbow Dash looking at her with a concerned yet angry look. “I know you were trying to act like Daring Do! But do you know how dangerous that is?” Dash shouted to her. “I- I was dumb, I’m sorry Rainbow Dash,” Scootaloo said, more tears running down her cheeks. Rainbow Dash looked at the crying fillies’ wing, then towards Ponyville. “I think we need to get you to the hospital,” she said. Scootaloo looked at her sister, smiled, then said, “You think?” They both laughed at the joke, not really concerned about anything. “Ok, now let’s go,” AND THEN Scootaloo made it to the hospital. But on the way there, a thought occurred to her that Dash had saved her. Twice. She looked up to her sister and had said, “Thank you” right where Dash could see it. And both of them smiled until they got to the hospital. BUT at the hospital, the doctor saw Rainbow come in and said, “Another broken wing? You got to be more careful Rainbow Dash,” he said. Rainbow looked at the doctor and responded by saying, “I’m actually here for my sister.” The doctor rolled his eyes as if thinking, Great, just another relative to always get broken wings, but he said nothing, and pointed to one of the rooms. The sisters walked into the room, and waited there. And waited. And waited. And waaaaiiiiiited. Then the doctor came in to take X-Rays of Scoot’s wing. Only one feather was broken, so they bandaged the feather and got out of that hospital in no time. Scootaloo learned a very important lesson that day. Dear Princess Celestia, Today I learned that just because it sounds cool, doesn't mean its safe. And no, Rainbow Dash is not forcing me to do this. Signed, Scootaloo
