Part 1 [Explanation to Runes]
Twilight fixed her mane slighty before glancing at the clock =It's 3 AM.= She thought as looked around her room, the only light is coming from Luna's moon but it's enough for her to see her bedroom. =Runes, why do they sound familiar..= She quietly walked towards the bookshelves in the room. Glancing to her side to see her slumbering assistant, =I can search on my own, no need to wake him up.= She said to herself before reaching the shelves, using her magic she lit her horn as she scanned the titles of the book to find the right one but found none in the shelf. Sighing she looked over the other shelves with same results, only finding her astrology and geology books in the bookshelves. She glanced at the door that'll lead to the main library downstairs =It won't hurt to search abit more.= She nodded to herself before opening the door with magic and closing it as slowly and quietly as she can.
Slowly she entered the dark room, she lit a few candles with a spark of her horn enough to lit the room well enough. She then proceed to the shelves for the appropriate book, minutes went by as she was scanning the middle shelf until one thick book caught her attention, peering over she read the title 'Runes of Equestria'. Smiling as she found what she is looking for, she levitated the book to her reading desk and lit the desk table. She open the book and begin to read: "Runes are magical artifacts, in the past unicorns used these orbs to amplify their own magical power. At first, they are imbended stones but can be implanted to the front limbs and forhead of the bearers." She turned the page and continue to read "These magical runes can be used by the will of the bearer. Once activated the spell will take effect, wether to heal a comrade or lay waste to their opponents. These runes are powerful magical artifacts that not only the unicorn race but by the Pegasi and the Earth Ponies, even the other races can use aswell." She read on, page after page.
One page caught her attention, the chapter is titled "The 27 True Runes." She then began reading the chapter intently; "The most powerful runes of all, these are said to be created before the birth of Equestria. Only 27 exist in the world, and only powerful chosen bearers can wield their powers. Besides the natural elements; Wind, Fire, Earth and Water. Only few other are known but the full powers they posess are still unknown. Two of these runes are used to guide and control the very cosmic bodies we see every day and night. The Sun and The Moon Runes, their bearers are our own majestic rulers: Princess Celestia and Princess Luna." She read aloud, her expression registered brief shock then confusion. =Why... why didn't she tell me?= She pondered as she continue to study the book until the crack of dawn.
Once done, she shut the book giving a long yawn as she blinked her eyes. She hear a distant roaster's crow signaling the Morning as she look out to see the Sun in the place of the moon. Squinting her eyes trying not to be blinded by Celestia's bright orb, she walked away from her reading desk and towards the kitcehn to fix herself a meal. As she ate, she heard a distinctive yawn as her assistant walked in stretching his arms as he walked towards the table.
"Morning Twi" he called out, he got a good look at her and was briefly shocked "Wow! What happened to you?" he asked slightly worried.
"Don't worry Spike, it just I didn't get enough sleep." she explained rubbing the last of Luna's sleep dust from her eyelids.
"You went to bed early last night, and you still couldn't get enough sleep?" He quirked an eyebrow as he sat himself across her.
"I woke very, very early ok? Couldn't get back to sleep even if I tried." She defended herself
"Let me guess you spent the rest of the night and early morning to study.." the look of her face made him smirk "Thought so, what is it about now? Plantlife of Everfree? The guide to social parties for eggheads?" he chuckles.
She shot him a glare as he start having his breakfast, she sighs as she finished her meal and before leaving she call out "I'm going to write a letter." He gave her a look in mid bite of his meal. "Don't worry, I'll write it on my own. So enjoy your breakfast Spike." she smiled as she leaves, he shrugs it off before happily eating the rest of his breakfast.
Once back in the main library she walked towards another desk, levitating an empty scroll onto the surface and using her magic to control the quill. Dabbing ink from the bottle, she start writing. "Dear Princess Celestia.." She started as usual as she wrote her letter. Once done she read it over: 'I had the strangest dream, but it's not just any odd dream. It felt so real, the stars are talking. Talking to me, they say I am chosen; chosen to unite the others chosen destined ponies. I don't know why it chose me but, Please tell me Princess. What are the True Runes? Why only now I know of their existence? You didn't you tell me, are you really the bearer of the rune that control the Sun? - Your Faithful Student, Twilight Sparkle.' . Once finished proof reading her letter, she rolled it up and see Spike walked it. She held the scroll out and watch as he exhaled magical green flame, sending the letter on it's way.
"Friendship letter? Kinda early for one." Spike said.
She shook her head "Just something I want to know, personally from the Princess." She responded, to which he just accepts the answer and wait for the reply belching out of him.
Minutes later, no reply yet. "Huh, odd. Usually she is quick with her re-" Spike didn't finish his sentence as a bright orb flew into their home, the orb flashed causing them to block their eyes from the light. Once the light died down, what stood before them is their tall and regal co-ruler. Princess Celestia.
She smiled serenly, her tone was pleasent as she spoke "My dear faithful Twilight, and Spike." She greeted them, before leaning towards Twilight her tone and features carry seriousness. "It is time you know, chosen gartherer of the Stars of Destiny." She said to the shocked unicorn.
