//------------------------------// // Author's Note (OOC) // Story: Tales of Equestrian History // by Polyphony Modes //------------------------------// So, this is a bit awkward... I planned this fic all the way out before I started to write it. My outline was written in the break between seasons 2 and 3. Season 3 introduced a LOT of canon that completely invalidates most of what I had prepared. I had planned from creation to the beginning of the "Solar Era," which is when Nightmare Moon was banished and Celestia began ruling alone. At least, that's what I was referring to it as. When not much is provided in canon, there's a lot more room for me to work. Now, history has been expanded upon in canon. From this point on, S3 and movie spoilers. To begin with, I had planned on not-so-subtly hinting throughout that eventually Celestia lost power, and that things were more fair under Luna's rule. Now, it seems that Luna won't take over if Celestia loses power. Twilight will, and I have no idea what to do with this. Secondly, the "First age of harmony." My original plan was to state that there could only be six alicorns in existence at any one time. No, this was not based on Borderlands 2. My obsession with that is much more recent. These six alicorns were to rule together as wielders of the Elements of Harmony. It's pretty obvious who two of them are, and the rest I can keep as planned. The PLOT TWIST 7th, however, was to be Starswirl the Bearded, the first pony to successfully transform himself into an alicorn. Again, fucking Twilight. I have plans to fix the issue, but it's a lot of reworking. All of this also causes problems with two other fics I had planned: "Translations" of Starswirl's notes as he researched his alicorn spell, and what happened after he had succeeded, which was to be written from a first-person perspective in Starswirl's character; and The Unycorne and the Seaponie. Gilden Raynes was going to be a running joke in translator's notes, showing Polyphonie's love for her writing and literary erotica in general. But, again, this was going to be based off of something that happened in the history fic. Something that will now be changing. I'm not complaining by any means. I want to be as accurate to the show as possible; and novel-length backstories and world-building are things I love. I'm simply trying to explain what is almost a year's delay in any real update, and slightly expressing my frustration at having to rework 3 stories worth of outlines. Lastly, I'm going to remove this once I return to updating. Y'all came here because you wanted to read Polyphonie Modes's translation of classical history texts, not to read Girard Fawkes's rant about fucking Twilight Sparkle. (Disclaimer: I have nothing against Twilight. It's simply a joke because 90% of my rewrites are coming from events directly involving her.) EDIT: While I'm reworking this, I'll be publishing an entirely different fic, The Harmony of Haruhi Suzumiya. It's based on an RP storyline a friend commissioned from me, and then never got around to using. It should start updating within a few days.
