//------------------------------// // Rise and Shine, Sleepy Head // Story: End of the Road // by Mydnyt Rayn //------------------------------// "Be careful, Rainbow! It looks like a storm is starting up!" Twilight said. Rainbow rolled her eyes and giggled. "No worries, Twi! This weather pony can't be stopped by anything!" Rainbow said, confidently. She took off and within minutes, she was out of Twilight Sparkles sight. Rainbow Dash glided in the air. She had no worries, either. Home was only another ten minutes away. The storm fell above her within seconds. Thunder roared in all directions. Lightning struck everywhere. Rain poured down like a shower. Rainbow didn't notice what happened next. A stong wind waved over her and the unthinkable happened to her. It was so... scary. CRACK! End of the Road By Mydnyt Rayn She moved. Rainbow Dash groaned as she slept, grumbling something about clouds not being soft anymore. She turned to her side and continued her sleep. Her sides were aching at that point, let alone her wings. After a few more minutes of tossing and turning, Rainbow stood up and rubbed her aching back. She looked around and she stared at nature with surprise. "Where the buck am I?!" She said, not one bit calmly. She trotted in place, worrying. It was still nighttime, so it worried her more. She continued rubbing her back and when she rubbed near her wings, a sharp pain filled her body. A pain all to familiar to her. Rainbow flitted her right wing and then her left. The same pain in both wings, meaning one thing. "No... No!" She flapped as hard as she could ignoring the pain. "No, no, no no no, NO!" She screamed. Both her wings were severely damage, possibly broken. Rainbow stopped trying, tears forming in her eyes. She lied down, closed her eyes, and began to cry. Rainbow sniffled as she opened her eyes. Her wings were damaged and she had no way home. For one, she didn't know where she was. It seemed to be a forest, no less. She knew it wasn't the Everfree Forest. No, this was a lush, bright green forest full of life. Rainbow then brought her attention back to her wings. She had to get them wrapped up. If she didn't get them set and relaxed, she may never be able to fly again. As she wandered through the forest, she got the feeling of being watched. It being a forest, Rainbow came to the conclusion that an animal was curious of her. So she kept walking on, ignoring the feeling. After a couple of hours trying to ignore the feeling, Rainbow stopped and looked around nervously. The feeling of beeing watched was becoming unbearable. She looked around before talking. "Wh- who's there?" Rainbow asked. Nothing. She asked a couple more times and with no answer. Then, Rainbow could have sworn she saw a shadow moving through the trees. She thought she was seeing things so she continued her walking. She needed to wrap her wings up and fast. She continued to wander around. The trees stood taller then the Ponyville Town Hall and the grass was the height of a colt or filly. After half an hour or so, Rainbow found some vines to get her wings wrapped and set, so the easy part of her day was finished. Now the hard part was to get home. But she wasn't too worried about taking to long, for she had gotten quit used to the forest around her. "Let's see, can I- that's weird. I can't remember what Twilight told me to do when this sort of thing happens. I can't even remember what two plus two is. Wait, why would I be worried about math? I hate math." Rainbow sighed. "This is gonna take longer than expected." ~~~ As nighttime came upon the forest, Rainbow looked up and sighed. If she could remember how to make a fire, that would help her with almost everything else. "Okay. So I remember Twilight talking about rocks, sticks and dry grass, but I need to remember what to do with them." She put the rocks in a circle and then the sticks and grass in the center. "That should be right." She sat and waited. Nothing. She looked at the fire pit, confused. “Where’s the fire?” Rainbow asked. She waited some more. This was getting stupid. Then after trowing a rock, she saw that striking to created spark. "Oohh, that's how you do it." After striking two rocks together a couple of times, an ember found itself in the circle. Rainbow smiled, but that smile quickly faded when, again, the fire did nothing. No flames. Rainbow sighed, her breath moving over the circle, making the ember glow brighter. Rainbow blew a little on the ember and sure enough, flames took over the sticks. "Success!" Rainbow said. She rested herself near the fire, resting her head into her hooves. After yawning, Rainbow fell into a deep sleep. The very next morning Rainbow- was still sleeping. Ahem. Rainbow opened her eyes and yawned. Thank you. Rainbow stood up from her spot on the ground and stretched. She whinced a little bit when she stretched her wings, but they didn't hurt as much anymore. Rainbow walked around, trying to find food. If anything, she figured out that the red berries wern't the ones you eat. As she continued walking something caught her attention. It was the smell af wood smoke. The smell was tugging at her nostrils. It was almost... inviting. After a breif think through, Rainbow started walking towards the smell. The trees started getting thicker the deeper she went. As she walked on, the smell got stronger. It was almost to overwhelming. Then, at the edge of the trees, she came to a small clearing. There, in its center, with smoke coming from its chimmny, stood a small hut.
