//------------------------------// // Chapter 10: Dat Discussion // Story: Canterlot University: A guide to Friendship // by RainbowJack2000 //------------------------------// When everyone left, you looked at AJ. She was finishing her pie and looked at you. "What?" she said, her mouth full. You roll your eyes and turn on the TV. Then she shuts it off. "Hey! What gives?" "Restaurant?" she asks. You guys walk to the restaurants a couple blocks away. It was a chilly week in October. You had a jacket on, but AJ didn't. She doesn't look cold but that didn't stop you from not putting the jacket around her. She smiled and thanked you. After that, you guys didn't say much until you finally arrived at the restaurant. A pair of purple eyes like Twilight's was watching your every move. When you guys sit down, the waiter comes over. And to your surprise, it was Snails. He didn't look like he was in the mood to talk to you guys, so he did whatever he was supposed to do: asked what you wanted from the menu and when you were getting it. When he left, AJ turned to you and sighed. "Remember the conversation that RD was goin' on about 'good looking babes' earlier?" Oh shit, not this conversation! Anything but that! you thought. "Yes," you say, nervous about what she was going to say next. "Do ya even like any girl at this school? Ah mean, it's late October and people usually have crushes on people from high school or if they just started. Take Rainbow for an example. She's had a crush on Soarin since 5th grade. Never really showed it, though. What about you?" You hesitate for a moment and instead of answering, you ask her this: "Why'd you bring it up?" It's her turn to pause and give some thought to her answer. But all she did was shrug as Snails brought your food: You had ordered rice with curry and chicken. AJ ordered a fruit salad. You both ate and she stared at you very frustrated. "What?" "Aren't ya gonna answer ma question?" "Oh... we're still on that?" "Dice! Ah was just curious. Just answer it." You give up. She was just as nosy as Rarity and she would probably hurt you if you gave her a rude answer. You sighed and shook your head no. "Never really liked a girl. Kissed only a couple of them. Turns out they only liked me because I was a jock, unfortunately... I don't mean to bring it up, but what did Caramel see in you that made you guys go out?" Applejack hesitated and sat back in her chair and sighed, looking at her food. There was a sad look in her eyes, and you regret what you have just asked. "I'm sorry," you say finally, "I really didn't mean to bring it up." "Well since you asked, ah guess ah should answer it. He only went out with me 'cause ah was on the cheer squad, only for a month until ah found out they did some slutty things." "Ew," you said, pushing your food away. "Anyway, it was nice to finally have a boyfriend, although Rainbow Dash wanted me to drop him like a hot potato. He was on every team back in school, and he was a quarterback in football, which made all the girls jealous of me, including Rarity." "Man I wish I was that lucky," you mutter under your breath. Applejack glares at you and continues. "We started going out for three months. One night, he told me he was sick and couldn' come to our date. Ah knew something was up because he was in school earlier. But when I went over to his house and looked through the window, I saw him and another girl making out," she was holding back tears, "Dumped him the next day and never regretted it." "I'm sorry, Applejack." you said, keeping your head low. "Hey," she said softly, picking up your head with her index finger and smiling. Her emerald green eyes were soft and showing compassion, "Don't worry about it." You smile back as she walks to the register to pay for the lunch. You feel a tingly feeling inside, something you haven't felt in a long time, probably not since kindergarten or something. She comes back and leaves a tip on the table, and you follow her out the door. You guys continue talking about crushes and stuff until she asks you a question. "Do you have a crush?" she asks. "Didn't you already ask me this? No I don't have a crush on anyone." you huff. "Come on, Ah know you like someone. So, spill the juicy details." she begged. "Let's see...there's that vending machine across the hall. She's pretty," you tease. "Ah mean something that can walk and talk." she said, getting annoyed. "Oh...no, not really." you say, looking away. "Come on, not one girl?" she asks. "Guess I'm not the type of guy who digs girls so much," you mutter. "Well you know what they say: There are plenty of fish in the sea." she says, smiling. You look at her and smile, "I guess you're right. What about you? Know anyone you like?" "To be honest, ah don't have a boy ah like. As a crush anyway. The boys I like are friends like Soarin, Flash," she paused and looks up at you, "You." Your heart is beating out of your chest and that tingly feeling is back again. You remember the feeling was the type that everyone who liked someone more than just a friend. You have a mischievous smirk on your face as you put your arm around her shoulder. "I think I might just have to change that," you say. 3 pairs of eyes: magenta, dark blue, and lavender were now watching your every move.
