Chapter 3: The Fight
It's been two months since the black eye incident. Bells apologized to Dinky for not showing up to school because she was sick. Dinky kept on telling her it wasn't her fault. Derpy talked with the school about what happened. But all the school did was told Silver Spoon not to do it again. No suspensions, no detentions, nothing happened to her except for a warning. Derpy's still made at the school for doing nothing about the situation. Bells feels sorry for Dinky and Dinky is more scared of school then she was on her first day.
7:30. Derpy was getting Dinky's lunch ready for school. Dinky was getting her backpack ready. Derpy gave Dinky her lunch once she was done getting her backpack ready. They walked outside the house and Derpy put Dinky on her back and flew her to school like everyday. Derpy dropped off Dinky and gave her a kiss goodbye on her forehead just like everyday. Dinky went to her classroom and sat down right next to Bells.
"Hey Bells." Dinky greeted.
"Hey Dinky." Bells acknowledged.
"So what did you do during the weekend?" Dinky asked.
"Well my family just basically stayed home the weekend. They were really tired. More tired than usual if I say." Bells replied. "How about your weekend?" Bells asked.
"Well me and my mommy went down to the park and made muffins. We even had a muffin war." Dinky said with a smile.
"Dinky can I ask you something?" Bells asked.
"Sure what's on your mind?" Dinky asked.
"Why don't you ever mention your dad?" Bells asked.
"My dad doesn't live with us." Dinky replied.
"What do you mean?" Bells asked.
"Well mommy says that he was on his way to work and he never made it to work." Dinky replied.
"I'm sorry I mentioned it." Bells said.
"It's okay. You were just curious." Dinky said. Then, she smiled at Bells.
Ms. Cherilee walked in the classroom.
"Good morning class." Ms. Cherilee said.
"Good morning Ms. Cherilee." The class acknowledged her greeting.
"I hope you all had a good weekend and I'm sure you'll all have many more good weekends ahead of you all. Now let's begin class today with a warm up quiz." Ms. Cherilee said.
Dinky felt something hit the back of her head. When she turned around it was a paper airplane that said read me. Dinky opened up the paper airplane. "Another day another warning I have to give you. What do you not understand what get lost means? Are you as stupid as your mother or dumber?" Dinky read. Dinky ripped up the piece of paper and put it underneath her planner. She looked at Bells and Bells understood what the paper said. Then, Dinky put her attention back on the teacher.
12:00. Lunch time. Dinky and Bells were at their usual spot in the courtyard. Dinky took out her lunch and gave the extra muffin that Derpy puts in her lunch to Bells. Bells says tell your mother I said thank you. Dinky says I will. Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara walked up to them and Dinky sighed.
"You going to make fun of my mom or my muffin?" Dinky asked.
"Neither." Silver said.
Dinky looked at her. She was surprised when she heard that come out of her mouth.
"Then, what do you two want with us?" Bells asked.
"Oh nothing really. Just that I wanted to know something." Silver said.
"We want to know which reason really caused your father to disappear." Diamond said.
"We wanted to know if it was your mother or you who made him run away." Silver said.
"You know you two can walk away with those comments. Or i'll make you eat those words you just said." Dinky said.
Silver and Diamond looked at her. They didn't expect her to say anything. Silver smiled.
"Or what. Are you going to run to mommy to talk with the school. Even though the school doesn't do anything about it." Silver said.
"You'll find out if you keep that up." Dinky said.
"I bet it was your mom she kept on screwing up so badly that he couldn't stand her. Or it was you. Once you came out he ran away the first chance he got. Didn't he." Silver said.
Dinky hit Silver in the face and she fell back. All the students stopped and payed attention. Silver got back up and jumped on top of Dinky. Dinky shoved Silver off and Silver fell on her back. Diamond tried to step in but Bells grabbed her by the mane and threw her to the ground. Dinky got on top of Silver and started to repeatedly hit her until Silver shoved her off. Diamond hit Bells in the face but bells kept on hitting her back. Dinky got back up and hit Silver in the face. It gave Silver a black eye. Diamond grabbed Bells and threw her to the ground. Silver kicked Dinky in the left back leg. Dinky fell down and Silver kicked Dinky in the face. Dinky tripped Silver and started to punch her face. Diamond was repeatedly hitting Bells in the face. Dinky stopped kicking Silver and hit Diamond in the back of the head. Silver grabbed Dinky and threw her to the ground. Bells threw Diamond to the ground and hit Silver in the back of the head to return the favor for Dinky. Dinky and Bells stood side to side. Diamond and Silver got back up and started to approach them. Until all of a sudden a voice yelled out. "What is going on here!" It was Ms. Cherilee. She walked past all the fillies and saw the bruised and bloody little fillies.
"You four to the principal's office now." Ms. Cherilee demanded. They did as they were told.
Principal's office,12:30. Diamond and Silver were inside telling their side of the story. Dinky and Bells were waiting for their turn. Diamond and Silver walked out of the principal's office and the principal came out and asked for Dinky and Bells to come in. They walked in the principals office.
"Now you threw the first punch, is that correct?" The principal asked Dinky.
"Yes." Dinky said.
"And you helped her in this fight, right?" The principal asked Bells.
"Yes." Bells said.
"You two are very honest. But can you tell me. Why did you throw the first punch Dinky." The principal asked.
"Because ever since the beginning of the school year. Those two fillies have always walked up to us just to pick on me." Dinky replied.
"Like." The principal said.
"Like my mom. Because she has lazy eyes. They call her a retard for that. They make fun of my food and my personality and also the fact that i'm her daughter." Dinky said.
"What made you finally stood up for yourself today?" The principal asked.
"Well it was because....because." Dinky got teary eye.
"Here darling take these." The principal handed a box of tissues to Dinky.
Dinky took the box and wiped her face. "Because they talked about my dad today. They wanted to know." Dinky stopped and wiped her face.
"Tell me the exact words they said." The principal said.
"They said they wanted to know what made my dad leave me and mommy. They wanted to know if it was my mom or the fact that I was born. They said that he left us the first chance he got because of my birth." Dinky started to wipe the tears off of her face.
"After hearing that you threw the punch. Didn't you?" The principal asked.
"Yes. That's when I threw the first punch." Dinky replied.
"Bells can you tell me why you joined in on the fight?" The principal asked.
"I joined in on the fight because I felt bad for Dinky and also the fact that two against one are not good numbers. Also I didn't want to watch her get beaten. She's my friend and I would never abandon her." Bells replied.
"I see." The principal pulled out some files. "You two can wait outside the office. I'm going to call your parents and i'll have the nurse check you two out once she is done checking out the other two." The principal said.
The two little fillies walked out of the principals office and sat on the other side of the hallway. They tried to stay away from Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara as far away as possible. Once the nurse was done with Diamond and Silver She walked up to Dinky and pulled out a wet napkin and started to wipe her face with it.
"Ow." Dinky yelped.
"I'm sorry dear. It's gonna sting for a quick second for each cut I find." The nurse said.
Dinky had three cuts on her face. The nurse checked Bells and Bells had three as well. Once the nurse left they looked at each other and smiled. They both had one scar on the same spot. The scar was on their left cheek and was going sideways. A door opened at the end of the hallway. They both looked and saw a stallion and a mare at the end of the hallway. The stallion was wearing a tuxedo suit. The mare was wearing a purple dress. They walked up to Silver Spoon and all three of them went into the office. Once they were done the stallion and mare looked really mad. Silver gave Dinky a frown and walked away with her parents. Another couple came in. The stallion wore a tuxedo just like the other one. The mare was wearing a blue dress. They walked in the principal's office like Silver's family and once they were done the couple looked mad and Diamond gave Dinky a frown and walked away. Bells parents showed up at the end of the hallway. They didn't wear anything fancy. They walked up to Bells and Bells had a sad look on her face. Bells looked at Dinky. Dinky was worried about Bells. Bells walked in the principal's office with her parents. Dinky heard the door open and she looked down at the end of the hallway and saw Derpy in her post office uniform. Dinky put her head down and Derpy walked up to Dinky.
"What happened muffin. I got a call saying that you got into a fight." Derpy said.
"I..I." Dinky was interrupted when they heard the door open from the principal's office.
"Ms. Hooves can we talk to you once you are done speaking with the principal?" Bells' father asked.
"Certainly." Derpy replied.
They walked in the principal's office.
"Ms. Hooves. I called you in today because Dinky got into a fight today." The principal said.
"I understand that part." Derpy said.
"Now I wanted Dinky to tell you what happened." The principal said and looked at Dinky.
"Muffin remember when I told you. You can tell me anything." Derpy said.
"Okay mommy. Me and Bells were eating lunch like everyday. Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara walked up to us to do their usual tease me. But this time was different." Dinky said.
"How so?" Derpy asked.
"I asked them what today's discussion would be about today. They said it would be about dad. I told them that if they did I would make them regret it. They wanted to know if it was me or you that made dad run away. They said it was you because of your eyes. Then they said it was because I was born. Once I heard Silver Spoon say that I hit her in the face. Bells got in on it once Diamond Tiara joined the fight." Dinky said.
Dinky started to cry and Derpy wrapped her wing around Dinky. Derpy looked at the principal.
"Now we know that Dinky isn't the one who antagonized the fight. It was those two that Dinky mentioned. We know because we called in some students to tell us on what they saw. They all fit Dinky's story." The principal said.
"So what are we supposed to do?" Derpy asked.
"Dinky and Bells will be suspended for the rest of the week. Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara will be suspended for two weeks." The principal said.
"You can't suspend her." Derpy said.
"I already told Bells' parents the exact same thing as i'm telling you. I wouldn't have suspend her if she didn't throw any punches." The principal said.
"But how is she supposed to defend herself?" Derpy asked.
"I don't." The principal said.
"Come on Dinky we're done here." Derpy said.
Dinky stopped crying.
"Okay mommy." Dinky said.
They walked out of the principal's office. Bells' parents were waiting right outside the door.
"You wanted to talk?" Derpy asked.
"We wanted to talk about what happened today." Bells' father said.
"I understand if you are mad at me." Derpy said.
"We're not mad at you 'nor are we mad at Dinky. In fact we're glad that Bells stepped in to help her friend. But I our daughters to make an agreement here." Bells' father said.
"What would that be?" Derpy asked.
"Me and my wife talked about it and we decided that they can help each other out in fights but only if there are more than one person fighting. They shouldn't start fights just so they can do it." Bells' father said.
"I can agree with that." Derpy said.
"Then I think we've reached an agreement. You two are to help each other in a fight but only if there is more then one person involved and you two can't start the fight. Understood?" Bells' father asked Dinky and Bells.
"Yes." Dinky and Bells replied.
"Nice meeting you Ms. Hooves." Bells' father said. He put out his right hoof to shake Derpy's hoof.
"Please call me Derpy." Derpy said.
"And call me Space." Space said.
"Nice to meet you Space." Derpy said.
They all left the school and started to head home. Derpy put Dinky on her back and went straight home. Once they arrived at the house Derpy grabbed the key from under the mat and unlocked the door. Once they were inside Derpy put the key back under the mat and locked the door. Dinky sat down on the couch and Derpy sat herself right next to her.
"Mommy are you mad at me?" Dinky asked.
"No muffin i'm not mad at you. You made a mistake but all ponies make mistakes it's who we are. I wouldn't say that you did the right thing by fighting but I think I would have done the exact same thing is someone talked about you like that." Derpy replied.
"Can we make some muffins?" Dinky asked.
"Sure. I'll go get the oven ready." Derpy said.
"And i'll get the blueberries." Dinky said.
