Aqua moved into Canterlot, staying in the palace, where he was were always welcome. His wounds eventually recovered, and he could walk again. Aqua still mourned the loss of his love for quite a while, but knew that it was what Sol had to do. Aqua helped out in the reconstruction of Canterlot, his knowledge of machines and hydraulics in particular gave him plenty of work. Aqua eventually moved on, keeping Sol in a special place in his heart, but finding another lover. He knew Sol wouldn’t want him to linger on his death forever, and that he had to move on. He eventually married, and adopted a child. He aged gracefully, looking and acting younger than he actually was. His new family left Canterlot for many years, with a bittersweet goodbye. They saw the world being built again, and made many memories. Now an older stallion, he returned to Canterlot, slowing down. His daughter is grown up, a beautiful young mare by the name of Steam Billow, taking after Aqua’s mechanical skills. Aqua frequently visits the princess, but spends most of his time at home living quietly, but happily.
Amethyst’s leg healed quickly, not holding her back. She and her aunt Twilight journeyed to the Crystal Empire, to find Shining Armor was indeed still alive and well, happily married to Cadance. Cadance and Shining Armor had explained that they wanted to keep their child out of the apocalyptic world that had come upon them. There was a teary reunion between all of them, and Amethyst moved into the palace. Amethyst spent the following years with her parents, making up for lost time. Shining Armor eventually passed, quietly in his sleep. He had lived a full life, and was happy. Amethyst visits Canterlot occasionally, but since she was technically royalty, she spent a lot of time in the palace, always busy. Learning how to act royal was incredibly difficult for her, and she still never understood all the complex social rules. She remained brutally honest, useful in the political sphere, in restraint. Amethyst never found a lover, not wanting one. She never looked for one, and was happy without a relationship.
Twilight cleared her conscience, losing her visions of Celestia. She left the Crystal Empire, still needed in Canterlot. She helped Luna with her Royal duties. After Applejack’s passing, she was the last element bearer alive. She gave up the element, losing her connection, much like Luna and Celestia. Now she waits, for the next young ponies to take over the role of guardians of Equestria.
Spike, getting on in years, settled down quietly in the castle. He still helps around the palace, and acts as an advisor to the princesses. He was fulfilled, carrying on Rarity’s legacy of generosity. Even as a dragon, he was mortal, although he still has many years ahead of him to enjoy every second of with Twilight.
Luna faced the challenge of ruling Equestria, but she faced it with support from friends. Sol’s energy supported the sun, and she could take care of the moon. Luna trusted that harmony would find another suitable ruler of the sun, but she had many, many years to wait before that would become an issue. The people reacted well to Luna’s new leadership, and Luna became a truly great leader. Her support from friends helped her to overcome her anger as well, now in full control of the nightmare within her. Luna lived happily in the palace, which was now full of life and friendship.
Apple Bloom was the last member of her family at Sweet Apple Acres after Applejack’s death. Realising restoring the Apple farm to its full glory would be too much for her, she called upon her family from all across Equestria to help. She planned on starting her own family one day, but that day wouldn't be any time soon.
Scootaloo followed in the hoofsteps of her closest friend and practically sister, Rainbow Dash. She eventually got admission into the wonderbolts, rising through the ranks. Her small wings didn’t hold her back, and she became an inspirational hero for fillies and colts across Equestria.
Sweetie Belle performed with Octavia for many years, becoming one of the most popular singers in Equestria. She stayed with her brother-in-law Spike, at the palace for many years before settling down in a home of her own. She married later in life, to a stallion she had known since childhood. The two of them had a child, surprising for a mare of her age. She still performs in Canterlot, now longer able to leave the city easily, taking care of her child.
Equestria reunited, now facing the difficult task of pulling itself together. But with harmony guiding them, and Luna leading them, the ponies of Equestria pulled together, and slowly the world recovered.
