Super Random Crossover Fun

Video Games I

Super Random Crossover Fun.

A/N: I was bored. So I decided to write some little drabbles, just for fun. Each drabble is crossing Friendship is Magic with a different universe in any way I see fit. There won’t be a specific update schedule for this, but I guess I’ll update it when I get bored.
BTW, all of the universes are video games. I do recommend playing all of them.

Kingdom Hearts

The location was Dark Equestria, home to many Heartless (mindless beings made of darkness) and Nobodies (creatures without hearts and don’t truly exist). It was a sprawling metropolis of skyscrapers and back alleys. Five ponies with special powers had been dispatched there with an incredibly important mission in mind: retrieve Princess Celestia’s missing heart.
“Sweet mother of Celestia!” Rainbow Dash gaped at the scene in front of her. She wasn’t the type to freak out like a little filly, but under these circumstances she got a free pass. “What just happened?”

“Pardon?” Spitfire, the leader of the Wonderbolts and the wielder of the legendary Keyblade, dropped the weapon out of her mouth. She noticed the two enormous piles of neatly-sliced rubble around of her, and the fact that she standing right in the middle of it. “Oh, I guess I sliced that building in half.”

Rainbow Dash stared back at Spitfire, mouth hanging open.

“Uh, Rainbow Dash?”

“You…you sliced that building in half!”

Off to one side, a shield carrying Soarin piped, “Yeah, so?”

“Do you need to sit down?” asked Spitfire.

Rainbow Dash nodded dumbly.

“Five minutes, everypony!” Spitfire called out. Soarin, Twilight Sparkle and the rest of team took a break from their Heartless-slaying spree and formed a loose circular guard around them. Rainbow Dash didn’t pay them much mind, because she was obviously in shock from seeing her friend…well, that was too strong of a word. Role model was more appropriate. Anyway, she was in shock from seeing her role model cut apart a building like a hot knife through a block of cheese.

“Yeah,” Spitfire said, sitting across from her on the hard, stone ground, “I can see how that was pretty scary, what just happened, but it was no big deal.”

“YOU SLICED A BUILDING IN HALF!”

“Well, it was coming towards us and threatening to squash us into pancakes.”

“YOU SLICED. A BUILDING. IN HALF!”

“Yes I did. And I had to do it because the little green triangle told me to.” Rainbow Dash made a strange, gurgling sound.

“Okay, this is my fault. I should’ve taken you aside to explain a few things when you joined this team, but I guess I forgot, what with us killing hordes of Nobodies and Heartless and stuff. See, the laws of the Keyblade… are a bit weird.” Spitfire gestured to the silver weapon, “Remember the time I cut that Hydra’s neck in half? Or when I picked up Trixie with a beam of magic and threw her into the Manehattan clock tower? I can’t do that normally, unless the Keyblade allows me to. And whenever the Keyblade does, I see this little green triangle on the bottom of my vision. I ‘press’ it and then I perform the really cool move. Get it?”

“You sliced a building in half!” Rainbow Dash said.

“Looks like you’re calming down. That’s a good sign.”

“You sliced a building in half.”

“By the way, those little green triangles are called Reaction Commands. I don’t know how I press them; I just do.”

“…okay.”

“Feeling better?”

Rainbow Dash nodded. “I’m sorry about…you know.”

“For freaking out?”

“Yeah. But what you did was so cool…” Rainbow Dash’s eyes suddenly sparkled like diamonds in the pale moon light, making Spitfire step back a little. “Could you teach me how to do that? Please?”

“Uh, maybe after we get back Princess Celestia’s heart.”

Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow

“Congratulations, Rainbow Dash!” Princess Luna roared as she recalled her unconscious Dragonite. Even though her eardrums were practically bursting at the moment, Rainbow Dash could feel the energy surging through her, especially as the princess smiled. “Thou hast bested us, the second princess of Equestria and the leader of the Elite Four! Therefore, thou art the new champion of Equestria!”

Rainbow Dash felt an answering grin spread across her face. It was hard to believe that half a year ago she was leaving Ponyville, with a brand new Squirtle having been bequeathed to her by the elderly mayor. It was even harder to believe that in the past months she had been travelling around Equestria, earning badges, crushing Team Discord, trekking through the horror known as Victory Road and eventually ending at the end of the Elite Four.

Where she’d won.

“Or…that’s what we would have said, if somepony else had not bested us first!” Rainbow Dash felt the smile fall from her face as Princess Luna stepped to the side, revealing something Rainbow Dash recognized all too well.

“Pinkie Pie?”

“Hi Dashie!” The pink party pony said cheerfully, standing on her hind legs and twirling the Pokeball that contained her Venasaur on her nose like a clown, “I didn’t think you would make it here! After all, you were always behind me the whole time. Did you know I waited for two days at the entrance of Victory Road? I was waiting for you to catch up to me. But you didn’t, so I came all the way here and beat the Elite Four! Now I’m the Champion of Equestria, like the magic fortune cookies had always told me. And that’s a title a silly filly like you won’t be able to take away from me!”

Rainbow Dash grinned menacingly, taking out the Pokeball that contained her trusty Blastoise—Tank—from her saddlebag.
“Yeah?” She said as Princess Luna trotted easily out of the way, “We’ll see about that!”

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor

That letter was just a joke. A hoax. It’s impossible to predict the future. Princess Celestia said so. Just a coincidence.

“This is really freaking me out.” Rainbow Dash said, breaking Twilight out of her thoughts. “Hey Twi, do you think maybe…”

“Nah, nothing can predict the future.” Applejack insisted, “I betcha fifty bits that some darn loser was just messin’ with us.”

“But to all six of us?” Rarity asked incredulously, “Twilight, what do you think?”

Twilight looked around the square of Ponyville. The place was unusually deserted, the only ponies around being her and her five friends. Normally there would be other ponies roaming around, talking and laughing and having a good time.
“I don’t know, girls. Something feels…” Suddenly six bursts of black flame appeared in front of them, making Fluttershy shriek and hide behind Rainbow Dash. Twilight Sparkle grabbed one of the letters that dropped out of flames, and when she looked at it, the words made her frown.

“Demon Summoning Scroll activated? What in the name of Celestia is this?”

At that moment, the letters began to glow, and formed a glowing hexagram in between them. A swirling red portal opened up in the middle. Creatures—not animals, nor chimeras, but actual winged demons and laughing pixies—began to crawl out of the hexagram, leering and cackling at them. Rarity, Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie screamed loudly, Rainbow Dash jumped ten feet into the air, and Applejack swore loudly.

Twilight could only stare in horror as someone very familiar whispered in her ear…

“Peaceful times are over, my little pony. Survive for seven days…”

Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga

Once, there had been a Junkyard. Then, that Junkyard had turned into a battleground as various tribes fought for dominance.

Twilight Sparkle fought the battle of her life. Then again, every battle and her friends fought were battles of lives, for theirs and even deaths. Sometimes they battled in demon form, sometimes they fought as ponies. Either way, they fought for survival. Transform, fight, kill, everypony knew the drill to conquer the Junkyard and reach Equestria—the ultimate paradise.
The current enemy didn’t give a damn about reaching Equestria because he wasn’t a pony. He was a demon, but not an ordinary one. He was a humanoid, tattoos lining his body and a small horn extending from the back of his nape. She knew that she had two choices—live or die.

For the longest time, the six members of the United Force of Friendship got their cutie marks handed to them. Every time they defeated one of the summoned demons, whether it be a one-eyed elephant or a stalwart warrior or a giant statue, the tattooed human would arch back, scream and let the anger of the earth consume them. Two steps forward, five steps back. Twilight realized if this continued, they would be continuing into the gates of hell.

“Who is this demon?” Twilight whispered to Fluttershy—the team’s shy yet reliable tactician.

“Um, I don’t really know. I don’t think he’s been here for long…”

“What the crap is his problem?” Rainbow Dash steamed, “We didn’t do anything to him! He just came out of nowhere and started attacking us.”

“Um, if I may make a suggestion, I think we’re intruding on his territory.” Fluttershy whispered back.

“What do you mean?”

“He doesn’t seem to devour like the rest of us…” Fluttershy continued, “He must have claimed this place for himself, and attacked anypony who entered here.”

“This is what happens when we get too greedy.” Twilight stated.

“Too late for that! We’re sitting ducks standing here!” Rainbow Dash hissed, “What about Applejack, Rarity and Pinkie Pie?”
Twilight looked across the hall, and saw the other three UFF members hiding behind another wall. The three of them looked exhausted, but ready to keep fighting. She wasn’t surprised. Giving up was an alien term. Nopony went to Equestria without determination. “I’m not going to leave them. There’s no way we’re running with our tails between our legs, but we can’t just rush into battle. We need strategy, everypony.”

“I agree.” Fluttershy said softly.

They heard the footsteps echo across the floor, far different from the hoofsteps they emitted. They felt the immense power reverberate through the air, like a million knives slicing at once.

The tattooed human spoke with the voice of a teenager. “Running again, are we? You know, the real Twilight Sparkle would never hide. She would charge at me like a true warrior, facing me in a duel to the death.”

Rainbow Dash glared. “What the hay is he talking about?”

“I know you ponies want to reach your beloved Equestria, but is Equestria really the place you want to go to? Is it truly a paradise? Will there be a benevolent goddess to take you under her wing, or will you fall into agonizing oblivion?”

“Goddess? What kinda baloney is this?”

“Do you have the determination, the strength, the will to defeat me—a demon who has seen the surface of Equestria? Know this: if you fall here, you will stand no chance ascending to your so-called paradise…”

“Equestria is a paradise, everypony knows that.” Twilight muttered, realizing that the enemy stood at least ten feet away. “But he doesn’t care about Equestria.”

“He’s taunting us.” Rainbow Dash growled. She looked over to Applejack, Rarity and Pinkie Pie. The three of them looked towards the tattooed human. “We need to act now!”

“I’m not running.” Fluttershy said quietly. “I’m sticking with this team all the way.”

“Don’t worry, girls.” Twilight Sparkle declared, feeling her inner demon surface. No-one in the UFF had ever ran from a fight and they weren’t about to start now. “I’ve already decided! I’ll show him where our strength is!”

Black shadows covering her body and silver coffins forming around her neck, she leaped at the tattooed human, not as a pony, but as the essence of Thanatos—the harbinger of death.

“Right here!”

The World Ends With You

It is said that many dimensions of a similar subject are spread across the planes of space and time. One day in Ponyville is another in a different Ponyville, and Twilight Sparkle has just been transported into said different Ponyville.

Now, she has demonstrated her life makes absolutely no sense and has completely gone down the proverbial drain-hole.

The situation Twilight is in wants to make her slam her face into a book over and over until she falls unconscious, but according to her five friends from this world it is very serious. She has just been enrolled into a brigade of ‘Tin Pin Players’ out to save Equestria through the means of ‘slamming’. It would’ve been perfectly fine with her (the part about saving Equestria) if it weren’t for the fact that the whole process revolved around a little colt’s game—Tin Pin.

She has no idea what Tin Pin is, and she doesn’t want to know. It certainly didn’t exist on her world. But apparently not knowing about Tin Pin in this world in the equivalent of cutting your own tail off and boiling it into a creamy soup. It is allegedly so horrible, that when she admits the fact, the Rarity from this world screams shrilly and faints on the spot.
Her other ‘friends’ from this world then rush her to a nearby hospital to get her brain checked.

It becomes clear that her ‘friends’ are one hundred percent insane and that she needs to leave this world fast.

Alright, so Rainbow Dash and Rarity aren’t that bad. For some reason, the former is obsessed with vegetarian curry and the Tin Pin game that everypony in this world is playing. Her constant fan-mare like behaviour over the Wonderbolts (who are master Tin Pin players in this world), has not changed in the slightest, though. The latter is more or less the same, apart from the number of pornographic magazines under her bed and a small handsome stallion obsession problem. But mostly, they are really fairly fine compared to the others, unlike this world’s Fluttershy, who somehow needs to scream her lungs out every five minutes or she’ll die of asphyxiation or something.

Or Pinkie Pie.

Thank Celestia Applejack is exactly the same, save for the Tin Pin problem. Twilight didn’t want to know what would happen had there not been at least one sane pony in the group.

Forgetting about the aforementioned problem (better for her sanity), though by now there is the Derpy problem.

Derpy is Pinkie Pie’s best friend, apparently, and she’s the one responsible for looting the Tin Pin shops across Equestria and is therefore a traitor and Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy and Applejack are devastated as though the five of them were the closest of friends (they weren’t in Twilight’s world) and Pinkie Pie had guessed it but didn’t say anything because nopony asked and this is simply ridiculous.

And that is why they are standing in the middle of Princess Luna’s old castle, about to challenge Derpy, Lyra and a bunch of other Ponyville mares because it’s obviously the only way to solve this mess.

Sigh.

And Pinkie Pie is breaking the fourth wall (again).

I think the Digital Devil Saga one needs a bit of an explanation. Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga tells the story of the Junkyard, a wartorn land living under blackened skies and eternal rain. An endless war is being fought over the various tribes in the Junkyard, and it is said that whoever wins will gain the power to ascend to Nirvana—the paradise free of war and strife. Somewhere in the beginning of the game, a demon virus infects the people of the Junkyard, giving them the ability to turn into demons at the cost of a voracious hunger to rend and devour their enemies.

I’ve written about the encounter with bonus boss of Digital Devil Saga—the Demi-fiend/Hito-Shura from Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne. Hito-Shura is considered by some to be the hardest boss in RPG history because of his absurdly high defenses and HP and an insane attack power. Yes, he does have a weakness, but that weakness is so small that you have to grind to maximum level in order to stand a chance of beating him, and even then you might lose because of his insane power. To add insult to injury on an already notorious difficult fight, Hito-Shura is the protagonist from Nocturne and it’s implied that he’s not even taking the fight seriously (the battle music is the random encounter theme or Nocturne, meaning that he only sees the DDS cast as an annoying obstacle in a dungeon, all his demons except one aren’t exactly endgame material and finally, the moves he uses are considered to be relatively mediocre in Nocturne).

The World Ends With You segment is based on Tin Pin, obviously. And a certain bonus chapter.

Constructive criticism and comments are warmly welcomed.
