Day 352-Decision

Day 352-Decision

In Where Nothing Gathers, Vanitas, Queen Chrysalis, and King Sombra have gathered.

"Twilight Sparkle is having a powerful effect on her," said the King.

"Yes," said Vanitas. "It wasn't meant to gain a mind of its own--nor become the pony that we see. But in the end, the puppet is the more worthy vessel in our plan. At last, the time has come." He turned to the Queen. "My Queen, is the device ready?" She nodded her head in response.

"It will be ready in a couple of days."

"Perfect."

"What should we do with Moondancer?"

"Both of them are connected to Twilight, but there can be only one. Let Solaris take what's left of Moondancer...or let her destroy her first and get it back. I don't care. Either way, the power of the Element of Magic will be ours."

***

Solaris was lying in her bed, crying into her pillow, contemplating recent events.

"I'm going to ruin everything...what should I do? I mean, Luna would know..."

***

Solaris awakened with her being propped up by a set of hooves and turning to see the dark blue alicorn holding her. She instantly recognized who she is, but wanted to make sure.

"Aren't you..." She trailed off as she was figuring out her name.

"Princess Luna." she said. "Twilight Sparkle's friend."

"Twilight Sparkle?" Solaris immediately sat up at the mention of the name. "You know Twilight?"

"Indeed." The Princess of the Night got up and helped Solaris up from the ground.

"Thanks. You rescued me, but I don't know why...you did." She remembered how Luna defeated her when she was tasked in her elimination.

"It is the duty of a princess to help somepony in need." She began to walk off until Solaris stopped her.

"Luna, wait...tell me more--about Twilight and those ponies she's always with."

"You mean my sister, Celestia, and her friends."

"Yeah...that's it. Celestia's the one that looks much like me."

"To Twilight, they're ponies very important to her."

"Well, it's just...I keep having dreams about them. But I'm nothing but a puppet--something that somepony created. So why would I have...her memories?" She then looked out at Ponyville, which is covered with an array of percipitation. "Do you know what Twilight and her friends are up to now?"

"That secret stays with me and my sister."

"Why is that?

"Solaris...your memories...they actually belong to Twilight."

"You mean...I'm a part of her?"

"When her memories got scattered when she sacrificed herself to save my sister, most of them returned to her when she was revived, some of them found their way into your friend, her Nopony, and part of them...found their way into you. Now, Twilight has cast a spell that has switched the cutie marks and destinies of her friends and is working to restore her friends and complete the spell so she can fulfill her true destiny. Except..."

"She can't, because part of it's inside me. Which means...she won't fix her friends, finish the spell, and reach her destiny."

"Yes. You're right. But, if you come with me to my sister right now, we can help you give the memories inside you back to Twilight."

"So, do you hate my other friend Discord for nearly taking your sister away from you?"

"...No. I think...I was sad then."

"Sorry, but...I can't go with you. My friends--they need me and I need them more." Luna placed a hoof on her shoulder.

"Actually...you should take time to think this through. Figure out who needs you the most and where you truly belong."

"How do I decide where I really belong? I don't know if I can promise you that I'll come up with an answer soon."

"Well, the answer you come up with may not be right for you. It must be one that works for everypony--you and your friends and everypony else." She then spread her wings and flew off for Canterlot with Solaris looking on.

"I'll try. Thank you, Princess Luna."

***

Solaris wiped her eyes and fetched out an apple she got during her time in Equestria, her magic keeping it fresh.

"I have to make the best of the time she gave me." She then looked out the window for Kingdom Hearts, which is almost at its full strength.

***

I entered the Grey Area and saw Solaris looking depressed and went over to her to give her the best smile I could give her.

"Hey, Solaris, good morning."

"Morning," she simply said. I don't know if this is about me getting weaker, but I must tell her I'm okay and always will be.

"Listen--" I was cut off by her.

"Look, I gotta go." I don't know why she's so depressed but my thoughts were cut off by Queen Chrysalis.

"Moondancer, how are you this morning?" she asked. I didn't know why she would want to know about how I am, but I must respond to my commanding officer.

"Same as ever."

"I have a very important mission for you and you alone. A Heartless has surfaced in the forest outside of Jasper, Nevada and I was hoping if you'd destroy it for us." I was wondering why my mission is a solo one, but I have a duty for the Organization and I'm hoping my target is an easy one, because over the past three weeks, I've been getting weaker with each passing day and my dreams are the sad ones involving the lavender unicorn.

"Alright then. I'll do it!" Discord then approached us, and I suddenly became uneasy of him, possibly due to what happened over a month ago.

"Wait a minute!" he said. "Are you sure about this, Moondancer?" I became confused by what he meant, as well as why he looks concerned.

"Why not?"

"Because, you're--" He was cut off by the Queen.

"Aren't you going on your mission as well, Discord?" she asked him, giving him a look of assurance.

"Yeah, I gotta get going, too. See you soon!" Hopefully, I will mean it, because I've got to catch up with Discord.

***

After I arrived in the Jasper forest, I started looking around for the Heartless target, but nothing really stood out and I began wondering if my mission will take me all day. Suddenly, my target, a Pureblood known as an Orcus appeared before me. I summoned my Keyblade and began my onslaught. During my fight, I started to grow tired, my muscles aching and my magic faltering. I attempted to deliver the coup de grĂ¢ce before it attempted to weaken me further, but I was stopped by two sets of Keyblades belonging to Discord.

"STOP, both of you!" he said while snapping his fingers to cause a flash in my eyes allowing me to no longer see the Orcus, but Solaris in its place.

"Solaris!?" I asked in surprise.

"Moondancer?" she also asked. "Why are you here? That Heartless I was fighting--that was you?" I paused when I realized that what I saw was the same thing, as well.

"This mission was a setup from the start," Discord explained. "It was all rigged by the Organization so both of you would battle each other." Both me and Solaris were shocked that the Organization would make us battle each other, but because Discord was able to stop us before we could kill each other, I realized he really is a true friend to me, to us.

***

After we sorted out why we were blindly battling each other, we went back to the clock tower in Twilight Town, the first time we were actually together with happiness.

"Brain freeze," Solaris said, placing a hoof up to her head as a way to take away the cold sting.

"You know, it's been quite some time since we've been together like this," I noted.

"Well, we had our conflicts to deal with," said Discord. After taking another bite out of his ice cream, his face suddenly lit up. "Oh, I just realized--were you checking your ice cream sticks?"

"Why?" asked Solaris.

"Because when you're done with the bar, check the stick. It may say WINNER." What he just said suddenly made me remember the time when I first found that stick, but I kept quiet about it, because I had another question in mind.

"So, if you found a WINNER stick, what do you win?" I asked.

"Don't know, really," Discord admitted. "But it must be something awesome, it you're a WINNER!" Discord said the "WINNER" part, while using his magic to make a small soapbox and a ringleader suit appear before him and announcing the word through a bullhorn, causing both me and Solaris laugh the loudest we ever did before. After his act was done, we turned to the sunset.

"The sun looks amazing today," said Solaris. She wasn't kidding; The sun looked more lovely than it ever had before. "I know we saw a lot of these sunsets, but today's is the best of them all. I just wish things were like this forever."

"What if we just run away?" I asked. My question must've been serious, because Solaris and Discord turned to me with shock and surprise. "I mean, the three of us could always be together, no matter what."

"But we have nowhere else to go."

"Sorry, I was only thinking out loud." I was right; My outburst must've stemmed off of previous dilemmas.

"Don't worry, Moondancer," Discord assured. "If things do change for us, we'll never be apart--" He was cut off by Solaris.

"So long as we remember each other," she finished. "No worries, Discord. We have your advice memorized. I'll have these moments remembered. Forever, hopefully."

"Me too. Forever..." I said. All of us are right. After we complete our mission for the Organization, no matter what'll happen, or where we'll go, wherever our path takes us, we'll always remember each other. Forever.

"Twilight..."

Caelum was standing alone in the Hall of Harmony, in front of a stained glass image of Twilight and her friends wielding the Elements of Harmony. Princess Celestia then approached her, with her sister by her side.

"It looks as though she's restoring her friends," said the Princess of the Day.

"Yes," said Caelum.

"Her time has almost come." Celestia turned to her sister. "Luna...you know what must be done."

"Of course," said the Moon Princess.
