As usual Rainbow Dash was out practicing her mid- air dare-devil routines. She had to practice as much as she could if she ever wanted to get into the Wonderbolts. It was her dream. Nothing was going to stop her from practicing today.
Out of no where Dash heard a scream come from the Everfree forest. Rainbow Dash turned towards the forest, wondering to herself, who ing the right mind would ever go in there. Sadly, it was her duty to go check it out.
Upon entering the forest, Rainbow Dash heard the scream again, but this time she could really hear it...
IT WAS FLUTTERSHY!
Rainbow Dash insantly went into overdrive, racing towards her, obviously in trouble, friend. Dash burst into a clearing only to smack right into a, now even more panicked Fluttershy. They both landed on their hind legs. Dash immediately stood back up to go help her friend.
"Fluttershy, sorry 'bout that, what's wrong?" Dash said worryingly.
"N-no time! R-run!" Fluttershy managed to stammer out.
Just then a manticore crashed through the other side of the clearing. Upon noticing the two ponies it rushed towards them. Out of pure instinct Rainbow dash flew up and Kicked the manticore square in the head. The manticore taking a direct hit, promptly hit the ground unconscious.
"See! It's gonna be alright Shy. That manticore was nothing! I guess i was just a bit too much action for it to handle!" Rainbow Dash gloated to her cowering friend.
"I-I guess you sav- RAINBOW LOOK OUT!" Fluttershy shouted just a little too late.
The manticore had recovered from its minor head trauma to stand back up and swipe at Rainbow Dash. The cyan Pegasus flew across the clearing only to have a tree stop her unintended flight.
Seeing her friend attacked like that, Fluttershy stood up and faced the manticore.
"You do not...ever...ever... ever...hurt one of my friends," Fluttershy said with as much scorn as she possibly could. She proceeded to follow up with the most intense stare anyone has ever seen. Even the manticore was paralyzed in fright.
"Now what do you have to say for yourself?" Fluttershy asked angrily maintaining her gaze.
With no other options, the manticore slowing backed out of the clearing and into the forest. As soon as the manticore had left sight Fluttershy rushed over to her friend, who was still lying next to the tree.
"Fluttershy that...was...AWESOME!" Rainbow shouted as Fluttershy approached.
"DASHIE DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT!" Fluttershy said, still a little worked up from the manticore encounter. " I couldn't imagine what I would do if something terrible happened to you." Fluttershy looked away embarrassed.
Rainbow Dash looked a little shocked at her friend's reaction. She didn't know Fluttershy had felt that way.
"I'm alright, don't worry," Rainbow said trying to comfort her worried friend. " I might not be able to fly for a while though, my wing really hurts."
Fluttershy looked nervously at her friend.
"You could...um...stay at my place...if you're O.K. with that?" Fluttershy offered.
"That'd be great shy." Dash said as she gave her friend a reassuring hug. "What would I ever do without you?"
