Disturbia

A Reputation

A frail, white unicorn stood her sharp stance. Her grey mane, with black highlights, fell down into her face as the small screen on her eye gleamed brightly. Her hooves her forcefully hitting the ground, making sure that she doesn't fall back into a void of nothing-ness, emptiness and loneliness. Her lavender eyes shut, and held down, with fear for her own life.

Her horn glowed brightly as she pressured back and almost invisible force, shoving it away from her as it tried to rampage near her, ravage her, and take her very life out of her own sight and swallow it, consuming for it's own pride. The pony let out a loud grunt, wrapping the wraith's body in a veil of magic and throwing it down into the empty void.

"Spiritus revertatur ad inferos!" She screamed loudly, opening her eyes as her horn set into a green-looking flame, closing off the portal and killing the spirit to go back to it's own hell, where it will never bother the living again. She slowly felt the heat from her cheeks settle down and her horn stop blazing it's magic. Her heart pulsing violently as the room's lighting returned to normal, once more, the realm of shadows being shut away, never to be seen again from mortal ponies.

Mortal ponies that weren't Kelpie Trapper, a pony who can communicate, vision and feel the undead spirits that come to haunt all that haven't been healed. She opened her eye and moved her hoof behind her ear and click a button, pulling the green screen away from her eye. She let out a deep sigh and moved away from where the portal used to be. Pressing open the doors with her hooves, she glared at the thousands of Canterlot ponies that surrounded the massive room.

Both her front hooves lifting in the air as she stood on her hind-legs. "The demon-" she grinned softly, as her lavender eyes gleamed aggressively. "-Hath been slain!" Her horn blasted out a massive display of fireworks, and it bright sparkling letters, it spelt out Canterlot's Freedom. Her eyes shut and head lowered, she brought her body back down to face the public to an eye-level. "You may all return to your home, your heart, your sanity-" she smiled. "-your family."

The massive amount of photographer ponies ran to ground towards her, raiding her with thousands of haunting questions and deeply personal areas. Kelpie glared at all the ponies and waved her hooves up and down. "Ponies! Mares and Stallions of the media, television shows, magazines, and even for the news- I do, what I do, for you. I refuse to answer your questions, because you all seem unpleased with my works. Though it may seem that I do not do much, I suffer for the images I see daily. It breaks my heart that you do not trust me, Kelpie Trapper, to be honest with you. Do any of you have anything to say for your false behavior, unhappiness and hauntings?"

One of the ponies trotted to the front of the line and glared into Kelpie's eyes. "Kelpie Trapper, unicorn of spirits, hauntings and the undead. How were you gifted with the talent of communication with the wraiths of Equestria?" The photographer took a sharp image with a bright flash. "Give my your answer, now."

Kelpie cocked her head slightly. "Gifted? This is not a gift. This is a curse. Would you desire to see the haunting undead?"

The photographer shook their head slowly. "You use it as a benefit, as you are one of the richest ponies in Equestria!"

"Well, if you must know. I was born with the ability, and as a filly, I was sent away. I threw away my first ghost, and I was given the technology to help ponies such as yourself. But, as most beginnings are, mine was humble. I didn't think I saw the undead, but I did see ponies with broken limbs and hurt faces. I would ask them what's wrong, and my parents would look at me, ask me who I'm talking to, and I would point at the pony. Since they saw nothing, they had assumed that their young filly had a disease. Though, now we know that Insanity isn't a disease. They gave me up, not seeing the real power of my ability. Although the foster homes were nice to me, I was still enraged. I was sick, disgusted and furious at the misunderstanding from my parents, I mean, surely they could have seen the ghosts, too? Did other fillies that got thrown away see the ghosts as well as I did?" Kelpie lowered her head and sighed quietly. "No, they did not. Nopony ever has, so when I received this power, this curse, this ability- Of course everypony was shocked! What filly can see the undead? Soon, I found out that I was the only one who knew about the wraiths that traveled, all alone. I decided to take this into my best interest when I was out to buy bread, one day. A small family was walking outside of their house, asking for the help of local ponies. I came near them and put the hood of my cloak down. I had asked them; 'What's wrong'? They answered; 'Our house has been overrun with ghouls, something we have experienced more than once. We are looking for bits to go see the princesses'. I asked them where their house is, and when the pointed to it, I felt my heart race as I slowly trotted towards it. This had to be my one-way ticket to freedom, I thought. Nopony wants to be alone. So when I entered the house, then shut the door, I felt all of my energy being grabbed out from under my bones. And, there it was. My first ghost." Kelpie started to walk away, her hooves clacking on the sidewalk, moving away from the Media Ponies.

"Well? Surely you are going to continue?" The ponies snorted with confusion.

"Well? Surely you are pleased? You asked for a story, and you got mine. If you really do want a story, go buy my book and get the facts straight from that. I have no desire to speak to any of you. You are all disgusting. All of you take pictures of ponies like me, and make up lies of us. We all have hard lives, and mine isn't going to be wasted by spending time with ponies who take the pleasure of hurting another." Kelpie snorted and walked away. "Have a nice day."

The Media Ponies all sat down with cocked heads and open jaws. Kelpie Trapper, who has been seen as an amazingly generous pony, had just insulted each and every single one of them. They all started to get ready to write a story, but with no pictures as their proof, they all hesitated. Awestruck with pain.

Kelpie Trapper continued to trot away, her tail bobbing back and fourth as her cutie-mar followed. A ghost. She hummed quietly, making her way back to her own home. While she was making her way back, she poked her bluehoof earpiece and the green screen flew in front of her eye. "Go for Kelpie Trapper, Equestria Ghost Hunter."

A muttered, worried, hurt voice muffled deeply into Kelpie's ear. "Oh, I'm sorry. I can't hear you..." Kelpie blinked and tilted her head slightly, she stopped trotting on the sidewalk and tilted her head a bit. "You wanna say that a little louder?"

"Kelpie......" There was a loud crash in between, and loud crackles of static. Kelpie forcefully flattened her ears, and her head lowered. "Demo.... Hur.... Help!" The static blazing in Kelpie's ear caused her to shout at hearing the last word, her heart-beat pulsing forcefully into her throat.

"Who is this? I will be right there. You do not need to worry, I will save you from the demons that possess you!" Kelpie shouted loudly, ponies around her stopping and glaring at her face- her red, flushed face.

"Princess Twilight Sparkle!" The voice screeched slightly as there was a loud crackle in the back ground, a scream, and the silence. Kelpie's pupils shrunk. Her ears flattened and her bluehoof screen pulled away from her eye.

"Does anypony know where the royal guards are, please, somepony, tell me!"
