"But mom I won't do it again!" Sunset Shimmer screamed in despair. She said this even though she didn't know what she did.
"No we gave you enough chances!" her mother replied before throwing her out the door. Literally throwing her. Ever since the day she was born her parents hated her. For two reasons that Sunset knew of. She wasn't a pegasus like her mom and dad, and she was a unicorn. The only way Sunset had stayed in her home was by she casting a spell that allowed her to walk on the clouds. But since her mom threw her off the cloud steps into the air she had to think of a spell that would save her quick. Then she remembered one where it could create a cloud. But she had never done it before. On the other hoof she didn't want to break a bone, or die. So she tried it out... Then when she tried the spell she closed her eyes to see if she would hit the hard wet ground. She felt her back land on a light fluffy thing of puff. The spell worked, but not for long. The cloud had disappeared after she landed on it. So she fell. Just not to her death, or broken bone.
She was still alone and wet sitting in the rain, hoping to die there. Instead, finding she fell asleep. She felt comforted by the sunset and fell to sleep. During the night Sunset had felt somepony lift her up into the night sky. When she peaked through her heavy eyes she felt so close to the stars she touch the little flickers from the night stars. The princess must have found her in the night and was bringing her somewhere. Sunset always adored the princesses, their magic was just so powerful. They had the powers to raise the sun and moon. Sunset had always wanted those powers to show her parents she was special.
When she woke Sunset saw something she never would have thought she would ever see. The princess, Princess Celestia was standing above her. Looking down upon Sunset. Although Sunset didn't feel the cold hard ground anymore, she felt a nice warm bed. At first she was surprised but then put the pieces together. She must have brought her to the castle that night. Then Sunset saw the other princess walk into the room. Sunset had heard of this princess but has never heard her name. Celestia started to say something but then choked it back and stopped.
"What? Is there something wrong?" Sunset asked.
"Oh, no. Not at all," Celestia replied.
"How did I get here?"
The night princess replied, "I picked you up in the middle of the night. You were lying underneath a pegusas home. Was this home anything to you?"
"No," Sunset lied quickly turning away.
"I can tell you are lying young one. What is your name?"
"Sunset Shimmer," she mumbled.
"Well I can tell by the look on your face you don't know my name. I am Princess Luna. Princess of night and the moon."
"Well, Sunset, where do you live?" Celestia asked.
"I guess nowhere now."
"That pegusas house did mean something to you. Didn't it?" Princess Luna asked.
"Yes.. It was my home."
"But you aren't even a pegusas," Celestia pointed out.
"I know, I was born of two pegasi. But I learned a spell to allow me to walk on the clouds. Then my mother pushed me off the side. I casted a spell just in time to save myself from the fall. Then I fell asleep to the sunset," Sunset explained.
"Well," Luna started, "you are looking for a new student, aren't you sister?"
"Yes, I am," Celestia replied. "How would you like to be my student Sunset Shimmer?"
"Oh, YES!!! I have always wanted to learn to do magic. But my parents wouldn't send me to school because they were disappointed that I was a unicorn."
"Great, you can start your studies tomorrow morning. For now have a look around your new home." Celestia replied with great joy.
"Alright," Sunset said. Then the princesses left the room to continue business elsewhere. Sunset never felt more joy then she ever had in her whole life. She was probably the happiest filly alive at that moment. Sunset crawled out of bed and did her normal morning things, like brush her mane, brush her teeth, and on. Then she started to roam the castle as instructed by Princess Celestia.
After Sunset found herself in the kitchen she started to introduce herself to the kitchen staff.
"Hello, I am Sunset Shimmer. Princess Celestia's new student," Sunset introduced. But everyone was to busy preparing a dinner for the governors from Saddle Arabia. But Sunset understood and wandered towards the archives. Which obviously she didn't know was the archives, but the guards explained to her that the archives were sacred and only the princesses and Celestia's student was allowed in the archive.
"But I am Celestia's new student, Sunset Shimmer."
"Well we haven't heard that news yet, so you are not allowed in," one of the guards replied.
"Oh well," Sunset thought, "I really don't need to go into the archives any ways." Sunset continued her palace search. She found the throne room, the dining room, the rotunda, and all of the guest bedrooms. She also had a conversation with Princess Celestia. It was just about her studies.
That night Sunset could barely get any sleep, she was just way to excited for her studies to begin tomorrow.
