//------------------------------// // Chapter I: Prologue and a New World // Story: My Little Clone Wars // by ThunderDasher07 //------------------------------// A new friendship opens the door to new adventures. The Outer Rim is in chaos! As the Clone Wars continue to rage across the galaxy, nowhere is safe from the carnage of battle. Evil and corruption are everywhere, with even the criminal underworld taking advantage of the state of unrest. Sinister motives and greed are always at play. In the Trilon sector near the planet of Rattatak, Republic forces have cornered a Separatist fleet. Leading the attack are Jedi Generals Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Commander Ahsoka Tano. As the heated battle continues, our heroes have no knowledge of the adventure that soon awaits them…. In the vast blackness of space, only the small stars light up the endless vacuum. The sound of turbolaser fire could be heard. The durasteel plating of the capital ships was scorched by battle. The red and blue colored lasers crisscrossed each other as the enemy ships exchanged fire. There were shouts and screams of Republic clone troopers and Separatist droids as their ships were hit. The Open Circle Fleet currently had five ships, which consisted of two Venator-class star destroyers, one Acclamator-class assault ship, one Arquitens-class light cruiser and one Consular-class cruiser. As starfighters whizzed past the large triangular viewport windows, Anakin stood on the bridge of the Judicator, calmly surveying the battle before him. His dark garments were motionless as he had his hands behind his back and his legs slightly apart from each other. He watched as the first of the last two Munificent-class star frigates was destroyed. Rex, in his white armor with dyed blonde hair and a buzz cut, approached him. “It appears to be a clear victory, General,” Rex stated confidently. “Yes, it does, Rex,” Anakin agreed. An alert sounded off as a crew member shouted, “Sir, incoming enemy reinforcements are coming out of hyperspace!” An auburn-bearded man, Obi-Wan, looked shocked and asked, “How many?” “Three, sir,” a crewman answered from his station in the sunken crew pit. A Recusant-class light destroyer came out of light speed and was flanked by two Munificent-class frigates. The destroyer appeared behind the last remaining ship of the previous fleet. The smoldering, Munificent-class frigate turned as it tried to get out of the way. The pleas of the droids were heard over the comms as the destroyer rammed the ship with its prow, causing an explosion that split it in half. The OOM command battle droid on the destroyer bridge said, “Oops! That was our ship. Oh well!” It then ordered, “Take out those Republic forces!” The rest of the droids responded with a chorus of “Roger, roger!” They fired upon the smaller escort ships and were quickly overwhelmed. “We’re taking heavy fire!” They heard over the comms system. “Losing shields!” The Consular-class cruiser didn’t have much of a chance to avoid the laser fire and then exploded. “We lost the Star Emissary,” one crewman said. The Arquitens-class cruiser, the Freedom, made several maneuvers as it tried to get out of the firing range. Its command bridge was taken out by a few Vulture droid fighters as they screeched past. The frigate fired several shots at the cruiser, causing it to break up into pieces. “Another two are incoming sir,” a crew member announced. Two more Munificent-class frigates came out of hyperspace behind the other enemy reinforcements. “Move back into a retreating position,” Obi-Wan ordered as he stumbled from an explosion that hit the ship. Anakin instructed, “Tell all fighters to come back to the hangar.” “Yes sir,” said one of the crewmen sitting below. The ventral central hangar opened as ARC-170 fighters and V-19 Torrent starfighters rushed to try to land inside the ship. Once all the fighters were in, the hangar doors slowly closed. A few Vulture droid fighters and a Hyena-class bomber made a kamikaze run as they dived into the hangar, causing several explosions and damage. All through the ship, the emergency siren began wailing. Many who were standing on the bridge stumbled from the tremors of the explosions. R2 let out a shrill electrical scream. As they were making their retreat, the Acclamator-class, Russet Knight, was hit by enemy laser fire, followed by several explosions in the stern. Their engines were hit and began to flicker before losing power. “Go on, our engines are damaged!” This just left the two star destroyers, the Judicator and Liberator, to fend for themselves. The Judicator boosted power to its engines as the capital ship rocketed away from the space battle. On the bridge of the Separatist destroyer, the command droid watched as the Republic capital ships fled. “Shouldn’t we follow them? They are getting away,” a droid asked. “Negative, our orders were to only cripple their fleet,” the commander stated. Ahsoka went over to the holographic map and began searching for a nearby planet. “We need to find somewhere to land,” Rex commented. “Master, it looks like there is a planet nearby. It appears to be habitable and has a single moon, but it isn’t in any Republic records,” Ahsoka said. Anakin nodded and replied, “Seems like the entire system is unrecorded.” Kenobi stroked his beard, remarking, “Ah well, the Outer Rim has a history of worlds being discovered, abandoned and rediscovered years or sometimes centuries later.” “Or it was purposefully erased like Kamino. There’s only one way to find out,” Anakin added. “Prepare our descent into the atmosphere,” he declared, as he told the crew to brace for impact. The capital ship started to drop into the unknown planet’s atmosphere. Fluttershy was standing outside her cottage on the edge of the Everfree Forest. The mare was busy feeding some nearby rabbits when she looked up with a gasp to see a strange, large object hurtling towards the ground. Her mouth hung open and her knees trembled, staring at it. She heard a loud booming sound as it disappeared beyond the horizon. “Oh, I have to tell the girls!” she exclaimed, her voice trembling as she rushed off in the direction of town. After entering Ponyville, Fluttershy galloped to Golden Oaks Library, the home of her friend, Twilight Sparkle. She opened the door to see another five mares there. “Oh thank goddess, all of you are here!” She said, with a look of terror on her face. “What’s wrong, Fluttershy?” Twilight asked. Fluttershy panted from running all the way. Applejack said, concerned, “Try ta catch y’all’s breath, sugar cube.” Fluttershy took a few, slow, deep breaths. “Ok… Did everypony hear that loud boom?” She asked. “Yeah, we were about to check it out,” Dash answered. “I saw it when I was feeding my bunnies! It was something big! I don’t know if it was a monster or an airship, but it was scary,” she replied. “But we gotta done go check it out,” AJ responded. The group trotted out of Golden Oaks with the little dragon, Spike following behind. “Hey! Wait for me,” he shouted. They were led back to Fluttershy’s cottage. They looked around as Applejack asked her, “So where did this here thang land?” She pointed an unsteady hoof in the direction where the black smoke was coming from in the distance. “Maybe it was a dragon?” Twilight questioned. “It didn’t look like a dragon at all,” Fluttershy answered. “But what if it is dangerous?” Twilight added. “Well my middle name is danger. I say let’s go find out,” Rainbow Dash replied as the six mares moved towards the source of the smoke. On the bridge of the Venator-class star destroyer, the crew was beginning to recover from their landing. The siren was still blaring. “Well, that could have been worse,” Obi-Wan sarcastically commented, then said, “Admiral, status report.” “The ship suffered minimal damage and casualties. As for the hangars, all fighters are in working condition despite the damage done by the enemy fighters,” Admiral Wullf Yularen answered. “Sir, we have just started to send out a distress signal, but it will take some time for anyone from the Republic to reach us,” a communications officer said. “Let’s hope the Separatists don’t find us first, because otherwise, both we and the planet will be in danger,” Obi-Wan replied. “Have you heard anything from the Liberator?” Anakin asked. “No, we haven’t. We might need to assume we lost them,” Admiral Yularen stated. Anakin tightened his fist in frustration and responded, “Keep trying.” “Our scanners have picked up a settlement not far from us. The atmosphere appears to be type one. So we should be fine outside the ship,” Captain Rex informed them. “Then maybe we should start there,” Ahsoka said. “Commander Cody, you are in charge of the clones while we are gone,” Obi-Wan stated. “Yes, sir,” Cody responded with a salute. The three Jedi and the clone trooper captain walked out into the field where they had landed. “I think it is best we make the trek on foot. We don’t want to attract attention to ourselves,” said Anakin. The weather was warm with a few white clouds in the clear blue sky as the single yellowish sun was shining brightly above them. They were standing in a large green field with a flowing river not far from them. There was a large forest to their right and to their left were a few hills, beyond which were mountain peaks. In front of them, further away by more than fifty miles, was another mountain range that had the tallest mountain in the area. There appeared to be a city built on its western side. The planet looked like it hadn’t seen a day of pollution. Rex took off his helmet as they moved. He took in the calm scenery around him. “I’ve been on peaceful worlds before, but this one feels different,” he commented. “All the more reason to not bring our war here,” Kenobi replied. Anakin glanced over at Obi-Wan and asked, “Do you sense it?” His former master nodded, “Yes, The planet is very strong in the Force.” “The Force works in mysterious ways,” he replied. Several birds flew past them and a few squirrels and rabbits went by. Ahsoka said with a smile, “The animals don’t seem afraid.” As they continued on their journey, they noticed six multicolored quadruple creatures on the horizon. The purple-colored one, which had a smaller creature on its back, seemed to be leading them. “Seems like our landing has attracted the attention of the locals,” Rex stated. As the creatures came closer, they started to hear voices. The first noises they heard sounded like horse whinnies and neighs. It initially seemed like they were another herd of animals that were coming through the area. “Whoa! That’s huge,” exclaimed Rainbow Dash, who was flying. “At least we know they speak Basic,” Anakin remarked. “M-maybe we should go back home…” Fluttershy said nervously in a stammering voice. “I think we should be cautious. We don’t know who or what is with that thing,” Twilight reminded them. “We ain’t dat close,” AJ replied. “I think I see someone everypony,” Twilight announced. “They are very strange looking,” she said. “Do they look aggressive?” Rarity asked. “What about weapons?” Applejack added. “I can’t tell… but one seems to be wearing armor,” she answered to both of them. “Don’t make any sudden movements,” Kenobi advised. As they made their way over to the war heroes, the group approached with caution. The natives were smaller than they had expected, about the height of a child. Their heads came to their waists. Upon closer examination, they looked familiar as the galaxy had a few species that were equinoid or equine-like non-sentient species. They were also not the only brightly colored species in the galaxy. The ponies stared up at the strangers. They were bipedal like dragons. “Is that armor you wearin’?” Applejack asked. “Yes, I’m a soldier, but we aren’t here to fight you. We come in peace,” replied Rex. “You speak Ponish?” Rarity asked. Anakin blinked. He had a confused look on his face. “I think you mean Basic.” This caused Rarity to give him a perplexed look. Fluttershy sniffled, “Oh, I hope all the little animals are ok and not hurt when you crashed in the field.” “Aah reckon they are doin’ fine,” AJ reassured her. “What are you doing here and what are you?” Twilight demanded. “Our ship crashed landed and we are waiting for someone to pick us up,” Rex answered. “We are human and she is a Togruta,” explained Kenobi. “I’m Obi-Wan Kenobi,” he said and introduced the others. “This is Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano and Rex.” Twilight greeted them, “I’m Twilight Sparkle and these are my friends: Applejack, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash and this is Spike. He is my assistant.” The purple scaled dragon waved. Twilight stared at the star destroyer, trying to wrap her mind around how it could fly. She was also trying to deal with the fact that Equestria wasn’t the only place where life existed. There were other planets in the galaxy with living creatures and aliens! It was something that she never really contemplated until now. “So that thing flies? Awesome!” Dash said. “We are ponies. We are divided into three races: unicorn, pegasus and earth pony. Unicorns can use magic, pegasus can fly and earth ponies have strength. Rarity and I are unicorns. Pinkie and Applejack are earth ponies. Rainbow and Fluttershy are pegasus. Spike is a dragon,” Sparkle said. “I like your um… hair,” Pinkie commented to Ahsoka as she stared at the tentacle-like things on her head. “It isn’t hair. They are what is called lekku. All of my species have them,” she told her. It was clear from speaking to the little equines that this planet and system had been cut off from the rest of the galaxy for all of its history. “We were on our way to the nearby settlement. Do you think we can continue this conversation there?” Rex told them. “Sure, we just came from there,” Dash replied. They turned around and headed back the way they came. Ponyville appeared to be a quaint little town upon arrival. Most of the buildings were white, timber-framed with thatched roofing. As they passed in the streets, the Republic heroes saw ponies of various colors, races and ages, from the youngest foal to the elderly. They also noticed that stallions were slightly larger and taller than mares. They knew that they were being stared at by the residents since they were unknown to pony kind. When the group reached a large tree, Twilight opened the door using her magic. The four visitors had to slightly duck to get inside. The walls were covered with built-in book shelves and there was a large table in the center of the room. “Welcome to the Ponyville public library,” Twilight exclaimed. Ahsoka had noticed the strange symbols on the ponies and asked the question they all were wondering. “What are those markings you have?” she asked, looking at Pinkie. Pinkie Pie looked at her flank and responded, “Huh? You mean my cutie mark? It’s what everypony gets when they find their special talent.” She followed up with, “Does it hurt?” Pinkie shook her head and said, “Nope! It isn’t a tattoo. It just poofs and appears.” “Where exactly are we and who is your leader?” Obi-Wan asked. Twilight answered, “You are in the nation of Equestria. We are co-ruled by our sister princesses, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.” “Where are they located?” Anakin asked. “The princesses live in the castle at Canterlot, darling. It’s located on the highest mountain north of town. Ponies that are very posh,” Rarity answered. “We saw that mountain on our way over here,” Rex remarked. “May we request a meeting with them?” Kenobi inquired and continued, “I’m sure they were alerted to our presence when our ship crashed.” Twilight replied, “I’ll send them a message right away.” She started to write a letter to the princess to request an urgent meeting as her quill lit up with her magic aura. Anakin turned to his three companions and said, “In the meantime, we need to pick up some supplies from the ship. We’ll be back to find out their response.” The group left the library and headed back to the ship. When she finished writing, Spike grabbed it and sent it off in a flash of green fire.
