The auidence was excited. Everyone was hanging on the edge of their seat.
"Mares and Gentlecolts. Children of all ages. It's the moment you've all been waiting for." Princess Celestia said. "Twilight Sparkle please come forward."
Twilight walked over to the specified location. Princess Celestia lit up her horn and levitated a golden trophy that showed two ponies fighting each other.
"It gives me great pleasure to award the prize money, and the Equestria Battle Tournament trophy to" Princess Celestia said.
"Not so fast!" an unfamiliar voice interrupted. Everyone turned their heads, trying to find out who had spoken. No one could find who the voice belonged to however. "You call that fighting?" the voice asked "That was boring. If you ask me you don't deserve this trophy."
There was a sudden flash. It lasted only a second but when it had faded the trophy was gone.
"Where's the trophy?" Twilight asked.
"Were you looking for this?" the voice asked. The trophy seemed to be floating in mid air without any strings or magic. "If so there's only one way to get it back. You must agree to face me on my own turf and my own terms."
"And if I refuse?" Twilight asked.
"Oh I have a feeling you won't." the voice said "After all don't you think you've earned this trophy?"
"Well yes but" Twilight said.
"Then what are you waiting for?" the voice asked "Defeat me and this trophy is yours."
"Don't agree to this Twilight!" Applejack said "You don't have to prove anything!"
"Yeah you don't need some silly trophy!" Pinkie Pie said.
"I think that's enough out of you two." the voice asked. There was another sudden flash. When it had faded all of Twilight's friends had duct tape around their mouths. When I want comments from the 'Peanut Gallery' I'll gladly fill out a purchase order."
"Leave them alone!" Twilight said "It's me you want!"
"If you ever want to hear your friends speak again you'll have to defeat me." the voice said "So do you accept my challenge?"
"I'll do it." Twilight said "But only because my friends are more important to me then some silly trophy."
"Excellent." the voice said "Prepare to lose."
Before Twilight had a chance to react there was another flash. In the blink of an eye she disappeared.
When Twilight opened her eyes she was greated with a sight unlike anything she had ever seen before. Instead of a hi tech stadium with lots of screaming spectators, there was a black and white checkerboard like floor, and floating buildings in the sky. Chocolate milk rained down from pink cotton candy clouds. If Twilight didn't know any better she would've thought that this place was Ponyville. Except more sick and twisted.
"Welcome to my dimension Twilight Sparkle." the voice said "Allow me to introduce myself." There was yet another flash.
"I am Discord." the voice said, revealing the creature to which it belonged.
"Discord?" Twilight asked.
"Indeed." Discord said "I am the spirit of chaos and disharmony. In other words my life revolves around making the lives of others more intresting."
"Why do you wish to fight me Discord?" Twilight asked.
"Because I wish to show you what real fighting is like." Discord said.
"You're kidding right?" Twilight asked "You brought me all the way here for that? It makes no sense."
"Oh what fun is there in making sense?" Discord asked "Chaos is the spice of life."
"I'm not going to fight you just because you think you know what real fighting is." Twilight said.
"But if you don't fight me you'll never see or hear your friends again." Discord taunted "And of course you'll never leave this dimension. In one piece anyway."
"Do you really think you can beat me?" Twilight asked.
"Indeed I do." Discord said "But let's make this a little more intresting shall we."
Twilight knew she wasn't going to like what she heard but she knew she had no choice. "What do you have in mind Discord?" she asked.
"Instead of the usual best two out of three rounds we will only fight one round." Discord said "There will be a time limit, not that I think it matters. When that round ends, either by K.O. or by time running out, whoever wins that round wins it all."
"So if I win you'll give back the trophy and make things the way they were right?" Twilight asked.
"Yes." Discord said "And if I win I'm free to do whatever I want with you."
Twilight didn't like the sound of that.
"So what's going to be Twilight?" Discord asked.
Twilight sighed. "I'll fight you." she said.
"Excellent." Discord said "Are you ready?"
"As ready as I'll ever be." Twilight said.
"Alright then." Discord said "Round 1, Fight!"
"I have to get this over with as soon as possible." Twilight thought to herself. But she knew just like with her fight against Princess Celestia she could not afford to be hasty. All she needed to do was inflict enough damage to Discord and remain on the defensive until the round ended. Then she would win automatically and it would all be over.
"Are you gonna fight me or are you just gonna stand there?" Discord asked.
Twilight knew Discord was trying to taunt her and bait her into an attack. But it wouldn't work. "I'll fight you when I'm darn good and ready." she replied.
"Well I hope you're ready now because here I come!" Discord said. suddenly appearing behind Twilight. She barely managed to dodge a punch that she was certain would've inflicted massive damage.
"Now it's my turn." Twilight said. She wound up and punched him square in the stomach.
"Ow that hurt!" Discord said "Not!"
"W-what? But how?" Twilight said. Needless to say she was confused.
"Let me show you how it's really done." Discord said. He launched a punch that seemed to connect in the blink of an eye. Just as Twilight had thought it inflicted massive damage.
"You're strong." Twilight muttered.
"And why shouldn't I be?" Discord asked "Or is that all you can say?"
Twilight said nothing.
"This is gonna be easier then I thought." Discord said "Oh I am so gonna enjoy this. It's clobbering time!"
Poor Twilight could only do so much as she tried in vain to fend off the punches and kicks that Discord assaulted her with. And whenever she tried to attack Discord he would pretend to be hurt, and then shrug it off as if nothing had ever happened.
"You've got to be cheating Discord." Twilight said "There's no way you can just be immune to pain."
"Did you ever stop think that maybe your attacks are just that weak?" Discord asked "Because if you ask me every single move you've made stinks."
"You're just saying that." Twilight said.
"Am I?" Discord asked.
"Don't play dumb with me!" Twilight said "You're not even taking this seriously are you?"
"Um hello did you forget who you're talking to?" Discord asked "I'm Discord the spirit of chaos and disharmony, remember?"
"Are you gonna answer my questions?" Twilight asked.
"I could but where's the fun in that?" Discord asked.
"So you're just going to keep toying with me?" Twilight asked.
"Correct!" Discord said "That's the first senseable thing you've said since I brought you here." He then started laughing like crazy.
"Oh you're mocking me huh?" Twilight said "Well see if you laugh at this!" she fired off a fully charged magical blast at Discord. It seemed to hit him head on.
However to Twilight's surprise he was still standing and appeared to brush it off. "I hope you're happy Twilight." Discord said "You singed the hairs on the top of my head!"
"You'll lose more then that when I get through with you!" Twilight said.
"You're in no position to be making threats Twilight." Discord said "Because this means war!"
"Do you seriously mean to tell me you're upset because I burned a few hairs on your head?" Twilight asked.
"Yes!" Discord said "Thanks to you my precious modeling career is ruined!"
"Precious modeling career?" Twilight asked "You'd never make it. You look like you got hit with the ugly stick quite a bit."
"How dare you insult my good looks!" Discord said.
"Oh sorry did I touch a nerve?" Twilight asked.
"Now who's being stupid?" Discord asked. Without warning he pulled a glass of chocolate milk from out of nowhere and threw it at Twilight. Nothing happened.
"Ha you missed me!" Twilight said.
"Or did I?" Discord asked, snapping his fingers.
"Wait what do you mean?" Twilight asked. Then she looked down at the ground. The chocolate milk began to glow "Oh you suck Discord." Twilight said.
"Language please." Discord said. As soon as he spoke those words the chocolate milk exploded. Twilight Sparkle let out a high pitched shriek that surprisingly didn't sound at all like her.
"Hm now where I have heard that before?" Discord asked.
When the smoke cleared Twilight had fallen to the ground. Exhausted but surprisingly unharmed.
"K.O.!" Discord said "I win!"
"I don't believe this, beaten by chocolate milk." Twilight said.
"Well Twilight." Discord said, dawning a pair of sunglasses "It looks like it's, game over. Yeah!"
Twilight lay on the ground. Discord's laughing and teasing ringing through her ears and tormenting her to no end. "Well I guess this is the end for me." she thought to herself. "Oh well I guess this tournament was fun while it lasted."
"Don't give up now Twilight." a familar voice said.
"Princess Celestia?" Twilight asked.
"Yes Twilight it's me." Princess Celestia said.
"Where are you?" Twilight asked "I can hear you but I can't see you."
"I'm afraid I can't be with you right now my faithful student." Princess Celestia said "I'm not even sure how long this telepathic message will last."
"What am I suppose to do?" Twilight asked "Discord is too powerful. I can't beat him."
"My faithful student didn't you think the same way about Luna and I in the tournament?" Princess Celestia asked "How is this any different?"
"Because Discord is a spirit." Twilight said "Nothing I try phases him. He's invincible."
"Invincible? Nonsense." Princess Celestia said "Every thing has a weak spot. You just haven't found Discord's yet. Oh dear this message won't last much longer. I'm sorry I can't be of more help to you Twilight."
"Wait! Please don't leave me Princess Celestia!" Twilight pleaded "I still need your help! I need to know what Discord's weak spot is!"
"You'll just have to find it yourself Twilight." Princess Celestia said "I know you can do it." As soon as she finished speaking those words her voice faded.
"Huh?! Princess Celestia?! Princess Celestia are you there?! Princess Celestia!" Twilight shouted. But it was no use. "I'm all alone again." she said to herself.
"Oh what's the matter Twilight?" Discord teased "Can't fight me on your own?"
"Just shut up and leave me alone." Twilight said.
"Touchy." Discord said "But if I'm not mistaken, this is the first time you've been without your friends since you learned the magic of friendship. Looks like I was right all along, you're nothing without your pathetic friends to back you up."
"My friends are not pathetic!" Twilight said.
"Sure, sure. You just keep telling yourself that." Discord said.
"Oh that's it!" Twilight said "You're going down!"
"I already beat you once. But if it's a whoopin' you're a wantin' I'm all too happy to oblige." Discord said.
"Don't forget when I beat you you have to make everything go back to the way it was!" Twilight said.
"You mean if you win." Discord said.
"No I mean when I win." Twilight said "This time failure is not an option."
"Oh how amusing, you actually think you stand a chance." Discord said "That'll make it all the more amusing when I wipe that smug little grin right off your face."
"We'll see about that." Twilight said.
"Okay I've let you speak your mind." Discord said "Round 1, Fight!"
Those words had no sooner escaped Discord's lips when he was met a smack in the face. Courtesy of a strong punch from Twilight. "How's that?" Twilight asked.
Suprisingly enough Discord didn't seem to shrug it off. "That was a cheap shot Twilight." he said "But you should enjoy this moment. Because I assure you it's not going to last."
"Now who's the cocky one?" Twilight said.
Discord didn't answer and instead decided to pull his trump card again. He threw a glass of chocolate milk with what he thought was pin point accuracy. But to his surprise Twilight caught it with her magic and threw right back at Discord. He screamed like a little girl as the explosion enveloped him before he had a chance to escape.
"Ah, did you get a boo boo?" Twilight said in a teasing voice "Do you want mommy to come kiss it and make it all better?"
"Very funny." Discord said "But this won't be." He fired off a blast of pure concentrated chaos from his paw. Twilight dodged it with ease. "How is this possible?" he asked.
Twilight wasn't even breaking a sweat. She had sustained no damage so far. "Your losing your cool and your focus." she said.
"But that makes no sense at all!" Discord said.
"Like you're one to talk Mr. Chaos." Twilight said.
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!" Discord shouted at the top of his lungs.
"Mr. Chaos." Twilight said smugly.
"Very poor choice of words Twilight." Discord said. He grabbed Twilight by the neck and held her up with one paw.
"Put me down!" Twilight said, struggling to break free of Discord's grasp.
"Never!" Discord belowed. "You have offended the spirit of chaos and disharmony. And you will pay dearly for your disrespect!"
For what was only a moment but would've seemed a lot longer to anyone watching Discord appeared to have regained control of the fight. Alas he failed to realize that as Twilight became more and more desperate she also became more emotionally unstable. Without warning she fired off an incredibly powerful blast of magic that instead of being light purple was actually violet red in color.
"What the" Discord said. but was cut off mid sentence as the blast overwhelmed him.
When the blast subsided Twilight stood on the ground. There was not a single scratch on her. The same could not be said for Discord who lay on the ground. Bruised and battered. This had never happened to him before.
"Looks like I win." Twilight said. In her mind the lines "K.O.! Twilight Sparkle wins! Flawless victory." played out and she was tempted to say them out loud.
"How can this be?" Discord asked I'm Discord, the master of chaos. "No one beats me! No one!"
"Well I just did." Twilight said "Now are you going to keep your promise and make things the way they were? Or do I have to make ya?"
"I'll keep my promise." Discord said, a hint of reluctance in his voice "But only because I'm a spirit of my word." And with a snap of his fingers everything went back to the way it had been. However Twilight had never specified how far back. So taking advantage of this loophole Discord erased the events of the entire tournament from everyone's mind. They would all assume it was just a dream.
"It won't be long now." he said to himself after he finished his work. "Soon I'll be free once again. And then Equestria will be mine for the taking." He then proceeded to laugh wickedly.
