"Come ON Rainbow Dash, we shall all be late" Rarity almost screamed down the road. Rainbow Dash was walking along, her feet kicking up a pile of dust with every hoofstep. When she heard Raritys wailing, she spread her wings, and took flight.
"Rainbow D- oh there you are. Like I was saying, we will all be late. The train leaves in five minutes"
"Yeah yeah, gimmie a break. I was up all last night clearing that storm!"
"Fine, but quicken your pace never-the-less"
Rarity walked on for a couple of seconds, then sighed. The started to trot down the road, picking up each hoof as if there was fire on the ground. Rainbow Dash flew lazily above her, her wings only beating whenever she needed them to. When they arrived at the train station, they caught a glimpse of a pink blur bouncing around, and then it knocked them off their feet. Rarity tried to suck in the air that had been knocked out of her as she regained her composure.
"oh! sorry Rarity I didn't see you there. Im just so so so so SO super exited to go and see Twilight in the castle! I hope they have lunch, im starving! Do you think Twilight will be ok? She might have a throne! how coo-"
She was cut off when Applejack calmly walked over and stuck her hoof in Pinkies mouth. Fluttershy giggled from behind Applejack, and soon all four mares were laughing their heads off, while Pinkie gave them a look that was half way between angry and wanting to laugh.
"All aboard the train for Canterlot, last call. We are leaving in thirty seconds"
Fluttershy shot up from where she was standing, and galloped onto the train as if her life depended on it, with the other mares on her tail like a pack of lions chasing a zebra. Once they were all on the train, they went to find a carriage to sit in. The only one available that had nopony in it had wooden benches, and Rarity refused to sit on them, so they went to the carriage with all the other ponies.
Soon they were all on the road to Canterlot, and although the mares were exited, a silence sat in the air, and it stuck out like a sore hoof. Pinkie Pie went in search of food, and Rainbow Dash followed her like a cub following its mother. Rarity and Applejack were talking, while Fluttershy was looking out the window. She usually spoke to Twilight on these trips and after she became Princess they got to spend less time together. Applejack noticed Fluttershy by herself, and called her over, but instead of coming over, Fluttershy sat bolt upright, her spine as straight as a plank, her wings plastered to her sides. AJ walked over and tapped her on the shoulder with a light hoof.
"Uh Fluttershy, sugar cube, are you ok"
"No look!" Fluttershy squeaked in response and pointed down towards the tracks outside.
The wheel of their carriage was not on the track, and they were coming up to a corner that would surely dislodge the train. Apple Jack noticed almost instantly, and began to shout orders to all the other ponies on the train.
"Fluttershy, find Rainbow Dash and start to help the unicorn and earth ponies off of here, were gonna fall off the cliff! Rarity, you and Pinkie help the foals. Everyone, get off"
AJ expected an immediate response, but everypony just laughed at her. She was about to shout again when an unexpected voice shot up.
"GET OUT NOW! WE ARE GONNA FALL!!!" Fluttershy screamed.
That sent everpony into a panic. The earth ponies and the unicorn galloped over to Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, who took as many as they could and flew them to safety, the foals were taken by Rarity and Pinkie. Rarity cast a spell, causing her luggage to float, and she placed the foals inside. Pinkie then jumped over to the ledge, only because she had a spring in her step*. The train suddenly jerked round the corner, and as Applejack predicted, started to fall down the steep rocky cliff that the tracks were on.
"IS THAT EVERYPONY?" Rainbow Dash yelled over the noise
"YES" Rarity yelled back.
"WAIT! I HEAR A FOAL" Fluttershy screamed, and scanned the carriage "OVER THERE!!"
She pointed to a pile of rubble, where tables and chairs had been thrown with the impact. Rainbow Dash pulled away the furniture, and Rarity grabbed the foal with her magic. She handed it to Pinkie, who had brought her party cannon, much to the others protests, and before Pinkie put it in, Rarity cast a spell that would keep it safe. The cannon fired and as it did, the train did a full three sixty flip, and the mares were thrown to the other side, all of them screaming in pain.
Rainbow Dash's wings, her prize possession, had got caught on a bit of the cannon, and ripped off her back in the process. She screamed in pain, tears streaming down her face like a waterfall. Rairty was sobbing, as her horn had been smashed into a million pieces, and when a unicorns horn gets smashed, its only a ,after of minutes before the unicorn dies. Fluttershy's legs had been torn off, and lay in a heap. She turned to look for them, and screamed as she saw where they lay. Her limp wings had fallen next to Pinkie Pie and Applejack's lifeless bodies. Their skulls had been crushed, and their lifeless eyes stared into nothingness.
Once the word of the crash had spread, medics and investigators headed straight to the scene. Unfortunately, they went able to save the five ponies who had saved everypony else's life. The sky turned grey and all through Equestria, everpony was silent. All that could be heard was the screaming and crying of Princess Twilight Sparkle, and she looked at her best friends dead bodies.
