My Little Feline: Transformation is Magic

by Probably Terrible

Chapter 1

I stood in the middle of my room, a large, dusty, and old book of spells sat in front of me, ready to fill me with knowledge. I looked at the title of the book. "Transformation spells for beginners: An ancient art." I read aloud, becoming more excited with each word. I levitated a potted plant from my shelf and set it in front of me. I would need something to transform. I opened it to a random page, and read:

"Chapter 2: Transforming a living thing. This is best done on a plant, at least for the first time. Doing it to a pony is more risky and easier to mess up. Be warned, if you mess any of these spells up, it has extremely dangerous and unpredictable side affects. Use them with caution. In order to make the spell work you must say the scientific name of the animal or plant you want it to become. It could be permanent, but it is not likely. There is a simple reversing spell."

I finished reading the page, and prepared to cast the spell. I began to say the words of it,excited for the outcome. As I said it, some sort of earthquake shook the ground, causing me to fall over and hit my head on the ground. Before I blacked out, I saw the room illuminated with a bright white light, and heard a crash.

I blinked awake, goodness knows how long it was later. My entire body ached and hurt like mad, and I hardly had the strength to keep my eyes open. I shut the again, trying to conserve the little strength I had left. Something next to me moaned, probably hurting too. I laid there for a little while, trying to gather my scattered thoughts, and go over what had happened. i had cast a spell, there was an earthquake, I blacked out, and here I am. That was all I needed to know for now. Whatever it is that's next to me mumbled something unintelligible.

"What?" I said, my voice dry and cracking as I spoke.
"I can talk." Mumbled the thing beside me. "I can talk, I can talk, I CAN TALK!" It shouted, growing excited.
"Congratulations." I mumbled, rolling my eyes metaphorically. I had hardly enough strength to even speak, let alone roll my eyes.
I rested for a while, the thing beside me still excitedly murmuring to itself. Eventually, finally having stored enough strength, I moved my head, to examine my surroundings. It was unlike anything I had ever seen, and it was in a snow-filled forest. It was summer in Equestria for all I knew, and I don't think I was teleported THAT far.
"Hey, you! What are you doing in the Snow-Crystal woods at this time of the day? You should know its dangerous!" A voice said, crunching through the snow. "Oh! You're a magic cat! I see, you can protect yourself! You should come anyways, you and your friend seem hurt." He, said, coming towards me.
"A cat? No no, I am a unicorn." I said, scared to look at my hooves.
"No, you are a magic cat. I can see it in the gem embedded in your forehead, and you are obviously a cat! Unicorns are in Equestria, way far from here." He said, turning his head and staring at me. "I know there are Princesses with magic and wings here, but it most certainly doesn't make us unicorns, pegasi, and ponies of course!" He said, probably somewhat offended.
I looked at my hooves, or where my hooves should be. There were paws, with claws, and covered in fur, much like soft cat fur... I gasped, and stood up, my shock, filling me with the strength I needed.
"What's wrong?" He asked, concerned. He was a blue-grey cat, with a leaf on his forehead. He had wings, too. He was much unlike any other cat I had seen.
"Nothing." I mumbled, poking the green-as-a-plant-stem-cat, who also had a leaf on his forehead. Maybe they were forehead cutie marks. I walked over to the lake, used my new, and somewhat weaker, but not much so, magic to bust a hole in the ice. I saw my reflection, and sure enough, I was a cat with a blue gem embedded in my head. I had a mark that looked like my cutie mark on my forehead, and it confirmed my suspicions abut head cutie marks.
"What do you call that mark on your forehead?" I asked, looking over at the cat.
"Um, Destiny Marks. I'm surprised you didn't know. You don't come from around here, do you." He said, curiously.
"No there was a mistake and somehow, I am this, and I am here. I can't explain it well, I'm really confused right now." I said to him, a hint of homesickness in my voice.
"So, you didn't want to be here, do you really hate it?" He asked, his voice edged with a hurt tone.
"No no, you don't understand! I'm lost." I said, sorry for offending him.
"Oh I see. You are ashamed of your own kind!" He growled, glaring at me.
"No! I said I'm just lost. It's actually, kind of cool, being a cat." I said, kind of honestly. "But I want to be a pony again." I mumbled under my breath.
"Come on, I need to take you to the town." He said, his tone lighter and more friendly, but still hesitant. He flicked his tail, and led me into the thick, green, forest of pine trees. "It's the town of Clawtii. It's the cutest tiny town you'll find in Felinia." He explained, as we went around a sharp turn through the thickest bit of undergrowth.
I winced as a a thorn pierced my shoulder, but I continued, not one to 'Stop and lick my wounds'. Eventually we stumbled upon a small town, kind of like Ponyville. A white cat with armor like the royal guards ran over to us but halted to examine me. "Who are you? Why are you here?" He asked me in a rough, unfriendly tone.
"Uh.. I'm Myra. I don't know why I am here, I am lost." I explained nervously, my stomach tying itself into knots.
"Come with me. The Princesses will need to see you immediately." He said, pointing to the exit of the town.
