Crystal Empire, Dusk.

Two weeks after her coronation Twilight Sparkle was summoned to the Crystal Empire for her first princess summit. After arriving Celestia tells them to hit the hay for the day, and the summit would begin in the morning. When Twilight finally gets some sleep a mysterious unicorn attempts to steal her crown. After chasing her down, she tackles the mare which then causes the crown to fly out of the saddlebag and into a magic mirror. Quickly the thief jumps in after it, and the girls go tell the other 3 princesses about the this.
"Sunset Shimmer who was a former student of mine, began her studies not to long before Twilight did. But when she didn't get what she wanted as quickly as she liked her heart became cruel and dishonest. I tried so hard to help her, but she eventually abandoned her studies and perused her own path which has sadly led her to steal your crown," Celestia said as she stood before the girls.
Spike took out the counterfeit crown and showed it to Celestia. " I suppose Sunset Shimmer thought you wouldn't notice right away that this was not yours. And by the time you did, it would be too late to go after your crown and Element of Harmony."
Twilight walked up to her teacher and asked," I don't understand! Where did she go? Where did she take my crown?"
"You'll soon know more about this place than even I do," Celestia said.
The group headed back to the room where the mirror was. Princess Luna explained to them that it was a gateway to another world, and that it opens and closes on it self every two months. Celestia told them that she had secretly hopped that her former student would return seeking her guidance. After this load of information Cadence added more pressure on Twilight by telling her the importance of getting her element back. Soon after trying to enter the world, Twilight's other friends insisted that they would go to, but the princess said," Sending all of you could upset the balance of this alternate world. Creating havoc that would make it impossible for Twilight to get the crown back from Sunset Shimmer."
The girls remarked encouragement to their friend as she slowly entered the portal. Even though the warning was made Spike managed to slip under the ponies legs and run into the portal after Twilight.

Domino City, Morning

Twilight slowly opened her eyes, and her first sight was Spike who was a 9 year old boy with green spiky hair, a purple jacket and jeans on. Twilight herself had the same hairstyle and eyes, but had a blank purple T-shirt with a purple skirt with her cutie mark on it.
Twilight after seeing this yells so loud Spike had to physically put her hand over her mouth! After this Twilight freaks out about her new body including not having her beloved horn. So the two decide to start looking around for the crown.
"Spike how are you having such an easy time moving around in this body?"
"Well this is how I walk back home just with a new look that's all. Twilight watch out your about to!"
Twilight trips on the ground and lands in front of two teenagers.
"Fall!," Spike said.
The girl teenager kneels down and asks Spike," Is she alright?"
Spike replies, "Aw, yea she just isn't feeling herself today."
The boy who had huge spiked hair helps Twilight get up and introduces himself.
"My names Yugi Muto, and this is Tea. You seem a bit lost, where are supposed to be going?"
She replied," I'm actually looking for something. Have you two seen a gold crown with a magenta star shaped jewel embedded in it anywhere?"
Tea then runs over and grabs a poster and shows it Twilight.
" Kaiba Cooperation's Battle City Duel Monsters Tournament? Winner receives the title of greatest duelist in the world, and the battle city crown! Hey this is my crown! How ever did it end up as a prize for a tournament? Aw I'll never get it back now!," Twilight said as she then started to weep.
Yugi pates her back and says, "If that crown is truly yours when I win the tournament I'll give it back to you. Would that make you feel better?"
She nodded and said, "Well thank you Yugi, but I think I should enter to increase the odds, but there is one problem. I never even heard of Duel Monsters before."
Yugi and Tea were shocked by her statement, and decided to bring her to Yugi's Grandpa to teach her the rules.

Yugi's House, Noon

"Grandpa! I'm home!," Yugi cheerfully yelled.
Mr. Muto came out of back along with Tristan and Joey who were carrying a set of boxes for him.
"Hey Yug, who's the new girl?," Joey asked.
"Well, Oh yea I never got your name," Yugi said.
Twilight replied," My name is Twilight Sparkle, and this is my friend Spike. Were new here and Yugi said Mr. Muto could help me learn Duel Monsters."
Mr. Moto laughed and made a big smile. "Of course I can teach you, but it will take a long time at least 2 days."
Yugi said, "That's fine the tournament doesn't start for another 4 days anyway. Oh yea I almost forgot to introduce you two. Twilight and Spike this is Tristan and Joey two of my best friends."
Both of the guys shook Twilight's hand, and then they went into the living room.
"Thank you for helping me get my crown back Yugi, it's very important I get it back," Twilight said as she sat on the couch next to Tea.
Yugi replied, "That crown must be really important to you huh. Is there something special about it?"
"There is actually, but I really don't think you will believe the reason. It's kind of weird."
Tea said, "Well tell us, for what us four have been through we will believe anything."
Twilight after taking a deep breath explains the story and the group honestly believes it. After the story Joey also agrees if he wins to give Twilight the crown. Then the group tells the story of what happened at Duelist Kingdom and about Pegasus. The group then got to the part about the finals when Sunset Shimmer's name came up.
"Oh the finalists where me, Joey, Mai, Bandit Keith, and Sunset Shimmer. Hey, wasn't Sunset Shimmer the person who tried to take your crown Twilight?"
She nodded, and then the others explain that Sunset Shimmer was a famous duelist who was Pegasus' adopted daughter who got powerful cards from him. After the tournament they saw her in streets a few minutes before they met Spike and Twilight.
"And that's basically it. Quite a tale isn't, and I can't wrap my head around that your a princess, but I promise we will help you get your crown back," Yugi said.
Mr. Muto walked in and told the kids its time to go to bed for the night, and offered Twilight and Spike to stay with them until the tournament was over. The other three went home while Yugi made a bed for Twilight on the couch, and a mini bed for Spike on blow-up mattress. When the lights were out Twilight couldn't help feeling worried about her training the next day after Joey described it earlier. Spike told Twilight not to worry, but Twilight still felt worried a bit.

"Time to wake up miss it's time for your training!," Mr. Muto shouted while banging a frying pan by Twilight's ear.
She then quickly heads with him into the card shop. He then explained all of the rules of the game including the new ones made for the Battle City Tournament. Twilight quickly picked up the game, and during her breaks read some books about it that Mr. Muto had in the back. After two whole days of training Twilight was given some cards by Mr. Muto to construct her first deck.

Yugi's House, Noon.

Yugi came back from school carrying a package for Twilight. She opened it and there was a new deck of cards. A letter was also included in the box.
Twilight opened the letter then said," It's from my friends back in Equestria I wonder how they got it here. Dear Twilight, After doing some research on the world your in we decided to send these cards to you. We hope they help. Love, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, AppleJack, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Candace. Let's take a look at them."
She looked through the cards which was a unicorn magician deck which made her feel good as spell casters were her favorite type of monster. After hours of building her deck, she showed it to gramps for some advice. He gave the a ok with a huge grin, and then she went with Yugi and Joey to pick up their duel disks for the tournament.
