Chapter 15
Starbloom's shoulder didn't stop hurting so she took one of her pain pills and went to bed, careful not to wake up Sweetie when she got into bed. Sweetie moved into Starbloom's room shortly after Silver Spoon's arrest and turned her own room into a home studio.
Starbloom was awaken by Sweetie shaking her. "Starbloom, wake up, it's important." She said a tint of worry in her voice causing Starbloom to sit up. Sweetie looked down at her holding a news paper in her magic. "Something terrible has happen, look." She said holding the paper over to her.
Starbloom yawned a bit rubbing her eyes before taking the paper in her magic looking at the headlines mumbling to herself before reading out loud. "Notorious criminal Silver Spoon, AKA, Silver Ghost found murdered yesterday evening in the Laundry Room of the Manehattan Maximum Security Prison, her last reported visitor was Mare Do Well... wait.... what?!" She blinked and reread the last part.
"Mare Do Well requested the guards bring Silver Spoon to the laundry room for a private chat, a few hours later the guards came to get Silver Spoon only to find her stabbed repeatedly and hanging from a rafter by a bed sheet.... They hay is going on? I did not do this, Sweetie you believe I didn't do this right?" She asked looking over at Sweetie Belle.
Sweetie nodded at Starbloom smiling, "Of course I believe you Starbloom, you wouldn't do that to kind of thing, besides the time the report said it happen when you where here at home sleeping." She said taking the paper and putting it away. "But the question remains... who did it and why is the paper and guards saying it was you?"
She shakes her head a bit sighing softly. "I don't know Sweetie, it might be somepony pretending to be me... or it might be a frame up, there is still a lot of corruption in this city." She said shifting a bit to get out of bed. It was just past six in the evening and with this news she wasn't sure if she would get back to sleep.
Sweetie followed Starbloom into living room. Sweetie going to the kitchen to start dinner while Starbloom went to the bathroom to shower. Starbloom started the water waiting for it to warm sighing to herself. "This complicates things if ponies start believing I'm a killer..." She said stepping into the shower.
Starbloom let the hot water wash over her, looking at her shoulder. The fur of her coat hadn't started to grow back yet and the injury had started to scar. The doctor had warned her it might never fully heal properly. She used her magic to start scrubbing her coat clean. This was the first time in a while she had time to enjoy a good shower.
After her coat was clean she rinsed herself off and put some mane wash on her mane and tail and started to scrub both clean. She checked her mane after she finished washing it and considered getting it trimmed again before shaking her head and turning off the water and shook herself off.
After her shower she dried herself and brushed her mane and tail out before leaving the bathroom and made her way to the bar counter taking a seat watching Sweetie work on dinner. "I think I'm going start investigating the corruption of the police, and courts." She said after a moment.
Sweetie paused for a moment before looking at Starbloom nodding at her bringing over a her dinner, pasta with a vegetarian sauce and bread. "Alright, if you think it's best just be careful. That sounds more dangerous then going after street criminals." She said smiling at her fixing her a glass of tea.
"It is, but I'll be careful." She said getting one of her pain pills and took it before she started to eat. "I know either the police, or the courts set me up for Silver Spoon's murder. I want to know why, and expose them" She said frowning a bit flicking her tail.
Sweetie nodded at Starbloom as she got herself a plate and joined her at the counter sipping her tea. "I understand how you feel," She said softly and shook her head. "I think we have a small camera you can use to take pictures, if you need it... Oh I know what you could use."
Sweetie got up and went to her recording studio searching around before coming out with a small tape deck and some small tapes bringing them over. "My producer gave me this, to record ideas and demos on. It might be useful, just be careful it's pretty expensive."
Starbloom took the tape deck and looked it over before fiddling with the buttons rewinding the tape in it before playing it. Sweetie's voice coming over the speaker singing, "In my life there's been heartache and pain, I don't know if I can face it again, Can't stop now, I've traveled so far, To change this lonely life" Sweetie turned bright red stopping the tape and removing it.
"What? I though it was really pretty." Starbloom said smiling at her before tilting her head faintly. "Sounds kind of sad though." She said looking at Sweetie who was still blushing and fidgeting alittle as she put an empty tape in the recorder smiling at Starbloom.
"It's called, 'I want To Know What Love Is' I didn't write it though. It was written by a group called Foreigner. My producer wants me to do a concert with them when I go back on tour. Though it would be a good idea if I practice some of their songs." Sweetie said at her leaning over and kissed her cheek.
"Oh I see, well it's a nice song, if not a little sad." Starbloom said smiling at her. She put the tape recorder and spare tapes on the counter as she finished her dinner. Sweetie just blushed again smiling at her.
"Hmm with the camera and voice recording thing might need a saddle bag or something to carry everything." She said as she thought for a minute before shaking her head. "No that's to big, more like a belt with pouches in it."
"We got one of those, remember?" Sweetie said using her magic to float out a belt that had small pouches in it. "Scootaloo left it here a while back, it's from her Daring Do costume when she and Rainbow Dash went to the convention here."
"Oh yea, I forgot about that." She said looking the belt over before putting the tape deck it in and the tapes in another pouch fitting the belt on herself. "This should work pretty well. Might be tight with the suit on though." She said before she tried to fit the camera in one of the pouches but it was to big. "Guess I'll have to figure something else out for the camera though."
Sweetie just sighed and smiled at her shaking her head. "Go get changed already," She said using her magic to take the camera and the belt. Starbloom grinned sheepishly before going to the bedroom. Sweetie got a sewing kit and made one of the pouches bigger by combining two pouches together and put the camera in it.
Once changed Mare Do Well came out of the bedroom and Sweetie put the belt on her, it was a snug fit but it wasn't to bad. Mare Do Well smiled going over and raised her mask kissing Sweetie. "Have a good night Sweetie, sleep well."
Sweetie kissed her back and smiled in return. "Stay safe out there Starbloom," Sweetie said in return moving to turn off the light as Mare Do Well lowered her mask and moved to the window slipping out of it once it was dark. After getting to the roof she started for the prison first to search for clues to Silver Spoon's murder.
