//------------------------------// // Prologue // Story: Peace and Harmony // by Lienia Harmony //------------------------------// Prologue I remember when I was younger… a young little foal. It was when I just began retaining memories. My mother had just given me a navy blue bow for my mane, and it was while she was fixing it in my hair when I first spoke, as I was very behind my fellow foals in this little thing. “Mama, why do I not have wings like you or Papa?” She was so surprised by the face I spoke she ran to fetch my father. When they returned I repeated that I was confused that instead of a pair of wings on my back I had a horn on my head. This induced a very, very, VERY long and excited explanation from my father about how he had a great, great, great grandfather who was a unicorn and how my mother hand a great, great grandmother who was also a unicorn, and somehow those two genes managed to find each other when I was conceived. And I on the other was still so small and young I had no idea what he was saying. It wasn’t until I became an older filly that I came to figure out what the explanation meant… As I grew up to be an older filly, war broke out, and I was sent from our very small farm in Cervidas, where our pony village was a colony, to Equestia. I was sent to Canterlot Castle, to Princess Celestia. She looked me over when I was carried in by a soldier, shaking and scared and confused as to why I was there alone, at only seven years, and decided that she would take care of me and get me some education until she could pick a family or caregiver that could. So after she soothed me and got out of me that I was seven, my name was Lienia Harmony, and that I was the daughter of two pegasi, I asked my own question of who she was, and after learning she was a princess, I asked why I was sent to her and not an orphanage or something like that. She explained that since I was from a colony, and the only pony coming from my war torn country, that sometimes the guards over react, but that also since none of the ponies had truly contacted Equestia in such a long time, no one could really remember they were there, except the princess. So she took it upon herself to pick out a safe haven for me. That was when I was enrolled in her Academy for magic for an education and how to control my developing magic, and given a room while she scoured for anypony that would take me in. Now, my cutiemark, needless to say, did not come until I was perhaps closer to ten. This was three years after I came to Equestia, and was still not adopted. My parents, I had come to find out from the princess, were killed in a raid on my village. I spent three weeks in my room at the academy sobbing my eyes out. When I came back to my classes, we were doing a project called What Future We Dream. I was put together with a purple filly and an off red colt. They were going off on a future where everything was properly controlled Equestia in the world, and I was sitting in my corner with my forlock over my eyes. “Hey…” I whispered softly. “Come on Twilight! We’re not all personal students of the princess, so you could at least try to act like a normal pony!” the red one snapped. “Well if you would actually show you had something it that brain of yours, Eagle!” Twilight snapped at him. “Hey, guys…” I whispered. They kept screaming at each other, so I pulled the papers and stuff towards myself and started using my magic to sketch out images of the two fighting, the soldiers that came declaring our country was at war, and what I thought the world should be like, with everypony getting along happily. “Linia what are you doing?!” Twilight snapped, yanking the paper from my hoofs. “Her name isn’t Linia! It’s Lienia!” Eagle snapped at her, trying to take the paper back so I could keep working. I sat and listened and watched as they pulled the paper back and forth, and my horn glowed as my heart clenched. The golden aura of my magic surround them both and my paper, and I pulled the paper to the table while I levitated them. “I think you both should be ashamed of yourselves…” I whispered, slowly looking up at them as they stared at me. “I understand that you both think that the governments of the world working like here in Equestia would be wonderful, but I think Peace would be better.” They both started to argue, and the room had gone silent once I levitated my partners. I shook them to show I did not want them to speak. “I came from a small colony in Cervidas. Cervidas got torn apart by a civil war, and my parents were killed a month ago which is why I was out of class for three weeks; to GREIVE. You two are displaying why that would not work. The government in Cervidas was wonderful until the king died and his two sons were fighting over who took over the throne. I do not want you to fight, and I would like to do the project on peace. Peace is something that is good. And I want it to start right now. Am I understood?” The class starting stomping in applause, and I dropped my partners when I jumped, and then I turned and apologized for dropping them. Twilight huffed, but forgave me after Eagle jabbed her in the ribs. We ended up with an A+ and I got my cutiemark… which was a white poppy. At age twelve, I was finally sent to a unicorn family in Ponyville, who loved me as if I was their own. The parents were Rare and George, and they had one daughter when I moved in, called Rarity, and soon after I settled in, had another called Sweetie Belle. Rarity liked designing clothing, and found the fact I was a rather, as she liked to call me, “uncivilized and uncouth filly from the most uninhabited realm of the world”. I found her rather… infuriating. All she cared about really was her clothes… and her ranking. That’s the only reason she put up with me I think, because I lived in Canterlot for five years. Time passed, I graduated from school with Rarity, met young pegasi named Fluttershy and her brash and loud friend Rainbow Dash, the crazy Pinkie Pie, and the honest Applejack. The ones I became closest to was Fluttershy and Applejack. I lived closest to Fluttershy, though even then I was pretty far from her and fairly close to Everfree Forest, and I was probably the loneliest of my friends.. Then that fateful summer solstice night came, when Midnight Moon returned, and Twilight Sparkle swept in, saved the day, and weaseled in on my sanctuary of Ponyville. And seemed to bring all the strangest things to town…
