//------------------------------// // Chapter Six: Fate // Story: Tear of a flower // by Zephyr //------------------------------// If you live in isolation for a while, and then think back to the time before, you will see how much you’ve changed. And if you leave this state of solitude, your friends or family will see that you have changed as well. I don't know how Dawnie lived before, but in the little time I knew her, she changed a lot. If I think back to the moment when I first woke up here, near death in the snow, I know, that I hadn’t really cared if I died or not. My life was meaningless, worse than an ant's - those little animals at least live and die for the sake of their queen (all ant workers are female). But now... After this relatively short time... -Chapter Six- .:Fate:. After a few seconds of awkward silence, I thought that it would be a good time to change topic "So! How does your home look like then?" I already knew that the room where I've been was a relatively small one, with wooden floor and ceiling and yellow-ish walls (and some decoration). But one room can't describe the whole house, so my attention got higher. "Uhm.. Oh, my home.. Right, follow me, I can show you around, and you said that you want to use the bathroom anyway.." 'Alright, my topic changes are horrible. Uh, whatever!' I stood on my legs for a few more seconds, making sure that I wouldn't fall on my face. Then I took one step forward, and again - Dawnie was already at the door, opening it when I took these first steps. Following her through the short door, lead me to a very familiar corridor with doors in it. Dawnie walked to the door in the end and opened it, revealing a small but well equipped bathroom. Seeing all the too familiar things I stopped in my tracks and just stared at the bathroom, with a unquestionable expresssion, thinking one thing. 'Dafuq?' Dawnie noticed my pause and looked up at me. "Is something... Wrong, Marty?" I looked down at her, seeing her tilting her head cutely. "N-no.." The only possibility that could answer this nonsense was that I could see the future in my dreams. Uh-hum. Suuuureee... "Alright, I’ll go, make those eggs for you." She said and left me alone, thinking. 'Weird magical land with speaking technicolor minihorses, also with horns, using 'magic'. Now I'm seriously damaged, lying on a hospital bed in coma, or this is the reality and it apparently wants to make me crazy.' I walked inside the bathroom, sitting down on the WC, in the same pose of Roden's statue, the Thinker. 'I can feel everything... This must be reality then. But this dreamy stuff is above any logic.' The flashing words of 'cannot compute' filled my mind, breaking the thoughts. "Oooo-Kay, I'm here to do the serious business!" I said and.... You know... Twenty minutes and a shower later I felt like a new man - some parts of my body were still quite sore, but nothing looked bad on me. I wondered about the fast and almost flawless healing (healed frostbites?) and opened the door of the bathroom. The delicious smell of the eggs was everywhere. I sniffed in the air deeply and began to search the source of my breakfast. After checking two doors (finding a storeroom and another bedroom, possibly Dawnie's own) I opened the door of the kitchen-dining room and saw Dawnie sitting at a table, waiting for me. "Oh wow, awesome!" I said, surprised by the well equipped kitchen. There were several machines (I had no idea how they worked without electricity ---> magic) and the decorations were nice too: hand(?) painted plates, dishes and other stuffs, silver-looking cutlery and so on. But the best part was the table in the middle, with Dawnie sitting next to it. She smiled at me, and magicly levitated a topper up from its place, revealing a small stack of fried eggs. "Bon apetite!" She said and leaned back a bit, staring me. I don't have to say, I devoured the surprisingly delicious eggs within a minute, and frantically searched for more when I finished with the last one. Realizing that there is no more I made a pleading look at Dawnie. "Do you want more?" She asked and giggled on me. "More. More! MOOOAARRR!!!! Uhm, sorry." My weird reaction made her cringe a bit, but she blinked a few times, then smiled again. "Alright, I’ll make 'moar'!" She said with a cute smile, making me grin like an idiot. A half dozen of eggs later I was full, first time in many years. After thanking Dawnie, she suggested to get on some clothes (remember, only underpants) and go outside so she can show me her home and the city too. Fortunately my sweater and pants were in good condition, and with some extra rugs under it (don't ask) my protection against the cold was acceptable. "Hmm, I think I'm ready! Shall we?" I asked, trying to imitate the Spy from TF2. "Yes we shall!" She answered happily and led me to the front door. She gave me my shoes, and while I put them on, she wrapped a scarf around her neck and slipped in four boots (obviously made for her own kind). As finish she levitated a saddle like thing in front of her, then she put it on. I made an uncomprehending expression. "Why are you wearing a saddle?" I asked her finally. "Uhm.. I don't understand." She frowned. "This is a saddle you just put on." "Yes. And?" "Is there any kind of beings who use your species as a mount?" She fall silent and blinked for a moment, then answered. "No.. Why would you think that?" "It's a saddle." In my point of view, it was more obvious than the sun-glasses on the sun itself, from the coke bottles. "Alright, sure Marty. Let's just take this situation never happened." She was right. Moving on! Stepping outside was pleasant, I had to stretch my legs anyway. After a second I began to make some warm-up exercises, finishing with a few jumps, then began to run around Dawnie's home. While I did this, she looked very surprised and, she started following me, keeping the pace. I looked back, seeing her slowly getting tired after the sixth circle. "You don't have to follow me, you know!" I said half loudly. "But!.. But why are you running?" She asked, panting. "I'm not running, I'm just jogging! Big difference. And because I don't want to lose my condition!" She began to fall behind, after the twenty-third circle I reached her - from behind. Thinking that it was enough, I stopped, slightly tired from the little jog. "H-how.. Could you not be.. Tired?.." She asked me, sitting down on her haunches, heavily breathing. "I used to jog around four to five miles daily. Anyway, you have a nice little home. The view is good from here." "Y-yeah.. *huff* Do you want to go to the city?.." She slowly caught her breath. "Hmm, why not?" Then something popped in my mind. "Wait, what happens if the other ponies see me? I'm still an alien here, you know..." "I told them that I found you and the doctor who took care of your frostbites wasn't freaked out either, so I don’t think there will be a problem." She finished her sentence with a smirk. "If you say so... Ooo-kay, to the town then!" I said, pointed to a random direction and began to march. "Maaarty..." Dawnie's voice was slightly annoyed. "The town is that way." I turned to her and saw her pointing the opposite direction. "Whoops." She facehoofed. 'Hm-hm. I already began to annoy her. If she can accept it, then I will have made my choice.' Dawnie stood up shot me a serious look, then she laughed up, making me laugh too. 'Looks like it must be fate. She is the one for me.'
