Night had fallen, and the two were getting ready to make their way to the castle.
“Alright Rarity, hold my hand, we need to stick together.”
“Are you sure this isn’t a gimmick that will eventually end in a kiss?”
“I wasn’t planning on it, unless you’re interested.”
“Maybe I am, what would you do then?”
“Well then, I would do this.” Before she could respond, Spike gave her a quick kiss.
“Well Spike, I like the answer.”
“I thought you would, but let’s get to the castle, we can continue that later if you’re still interested.”
“You’re right let’s get going.”
Spike went forward first, looking all around, making sure they were alone. He then gave a gentle tug, letting Rarity know it was safe. They continued to make their way there, having small conversations on the way.
“So Rarity how does it feel, having to no longer be stuck in a dragon’s body?”
“Well I’ll be a little sad, as since I’ve received it, I like the idea of being immune to fire, having sharp claws that I can use to defend myself. It’s also nice to be able to breathe fire, it could help me with my business with the ability to make jewelry now with gold. At the same time, I would like my old body back. I am so used to doing everything as a pony. At the same time, it’s nice having hands, I can do so many things I couldn’t normally do with hooves.”
“Well it looks like you’ll to think about what you want to be.”
“Well what do you think I should do Spike?”
“I think you should do what your mind and heart say.”
“You’re right Spike… wait I think I hear a noise.”
“Quick, hide behind this bush.”
The two jumped behind the bush. They kept their eyes above the bush, curious as to what caused the noise. They noticed it was just a pony wandering the streets, the both of them let out a sigh of relief. As soon as he went around the corner, and the hoof steps were silent, they continued making their way to the castle.
“Spike, can I tell you something?”
“Sure thing Rarity, what is it?”
“Now that I’ve walked into the shoes of a dragon, I’ve gained more respect for you and maybe a little more feelings towards you.”
“Really?”
“Yes Spike.”
“That’s interesting.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well when you were a pony, you didn’t share those feelings, but somehow, when you were in a situation somewhat like mine, you all of a sudden start to slightly share the same feelings for me. I hate to say this, but I think you’re lying, I think there’s more to it.”
“How could you…”
“Don’t lie to me Rarity.”
“Well you’re right there is more to it. After seeing all that you did for me, how you were taking care of me, how you were there to comfort me and how you were there showing me that you would do anything for me, I couldn’t help but start to think about us, and how you seemed to be a good choice. By being you, I realized you’re worth more than just friends.”
“That’s nice to hear Rarity, but I need time to think about this. I want to make sure it’s not just the dragon side of you saying this.”
“I understand Spike, I’ll give you until they transform me. If you choose for me to stay as a dragon, I will stay with you, but if you choose for me to become a pony, I will take it as you don’t want to take it further.”
“What if I want you to become a pony but want to give us a chance?”
“Well it would be harder to do that, as being a pony would shorten my lifespan a lot. Whereas if I were a dragon we could be together a lot longer. Also I hate to say this, but it would be strange, a pony dating a dragon.”
“You make a good point. Until then, I will think about what to decide.”
They made it a little further, when suddenly the castle was in site.
“Hey Rarity, we’re almost there, just a little longer.”
“Alright Spike, I’m right behind you.”
They made their way to the guards at the door.
“Hey Spike, hey Rarity. Twilight and the others are waiting for you inside the throne room.”
“Thank you.”
Spike guided Rarity in, as they made their way in the centre, they heard the doors shutting behind them.
“Well Rarity, it looks like this is it.”
“It seems so. Here’s a little something before the big decision tomorrow.” Rarity gave Spike a passionate kiss on the lips. Spike returned it immediately, wanting to enjoy the moment while it lasted, seeing as this may be his last.
“I’ll see you tomorrow for the big moment, I know where the throne room is.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” Rarity made her way towards the throne room.
