The Nights Of Wrong Dreams

by VedaQuila

First Night Back

Luna looked for Twilight's dreams. She had not seen any from her for a whole week. After the first night of no dreams, she guessed Twilight had stayed up all night reading. But after three nights on the trot, Luna was worried.

She went to Ponyville, but Twilight was not there. She had searched all over, but to no avail. Pinkie had not been seen either, very unlike the bouncy pink mare, so Luna guessed she had gone with Twilight.

Finally, on the seventh day of their disappearance, Luna picked up on the dreams of Pinkie Pie and Twilight Sparkle. She quickly fell into Twilight's dream, remembering the traumatising times she had tried to enter Pinkie's.

As Luna reached into Twilight's dreams, the first thing she saw was an odd earth pony. He had a brown coat and spiky dark brown mane and was a main feature in Twilight's dreams. But the odd earth pony was followed by a blue box. Everywhere they went, and they went many different places, it was there, in the background.

Together they saved worlds and races of odd and wonderful ponies and defeated enemies. Luna was in awe. In just seven days for her, a whole month had passed for Twilight.

Luna decided to look into the strange earth pony's dreams to see who he was. It would be easy enough to access him through Twilight's memories of him, as long as no other dream walkers were doing the same.

As Luna reached in and touched the mysterious pony a blinding explosion of minds hit her. There must have been another dream walker. Luna quickly tried to back up, but her mind was stuck in the space between the pony and Twilight's minds and she would risk melding them together if she was not careful.

She took a deep breath and tried to separate the minds, but she noticed something different. As Twilight's dreams stayed the same, the earth pony's dreams had changed. It must have happened when the two dream walkers had tried to get into his mind.

Luna did a quick check over and things matched the time line of Twilight's dreams, so Luna guessed everything was ok. She gave a sigh of relief and continued on to the next set of dreams.

Twilight woke to Celestia's bright sun. She yawned and got out of bed. She had the greatest time travelling with the Doctor and Pinkie, but as he let her settle back down a wee bit, she had a few days to spend with her friends.

She had already been with Pinkie on their "short" holiday so she decided to invite her friends to a picnic just outside Ponyville.

Twilight picked up a blanket and some sandwiches as well as a few drinks. "Bye Spike! I'll be back in an hour!"

Twilight chuckled as she heard a groan in response which sounded a lot like; "Go away I'm sleeping!"

Twilight, with a bright smile on her face walked out side into the sunlight before grabbing her small bag of items in her magic and soaring into the sky.

She looked down at Ponyville. Never before had it been so beautiful. She sighed before heading to her first stop. Sugar Cube Corner.

She dove down and landed with a small thud as the door to the bakery opened. "Hi Twilight! I just knew you were coming because I was baking cupcakes this morning and I got this feeling, we should have a picnic! Then just a few moments ago I got this Pinkie sense that a friend was coming and something was falling out the sky so I guessed it was either you or Rainbow Dash 'cause Fluttershy doesn't really like flying but then she cold be falling instead of flying-" Twilight stuck her hoof in Pinkie Pie's mouth.

"Good morning to you too Pinkie. I was wondering if you wanted to have a picnic today and if so can you bake something to bring with you?" Pinkie's smile grew.

"Sure I can come Twilight! And I'll bake lots of cupcakes too! Oh I can't wait! What time should I meet you?"

"Ok, good, you can meet us at the library at noon! We'll head out then. Well if that's all I have to go get the others. See you soon Pinkie!"

Pinkie smiled and waved. "Bye Twilight!"

Twilight turned and trotted down to Carousel Boutique. She knocked politely on the door. Sweetie Belle opened the door. "Hi Twilight! Can I help you? Oh, do you want to talk to my sister? RARITY!!! TWILIGHT'S HERE!!!!"

Twilight released the tension in her scrunched up face as she had tried to save herself from a great attempt on the Royal Canterlot Voice. Soon though Rarity came running down the stairs.

"Oh hello dear! Sweetie you can go now." Sweetie Belle disappeared back inside. "How was your and Pinkie's holiday? You simple must tell."

Twilight smiled. "I shall Rarity, but first could you come to my picnic. We're all going to meet at noon at the library. If you could also bring some food too that would be great." Rarity nodded.

"Of course deary! I can't wait! So I'll see you later then?" Twilight nodded. "Ok then, bye Twilight!"

Twilight waved as she hovered away. "Bye!"

As she reached cloud level she was looking for one rainbow maned pony in particular. As she circled around she saw the cyan blue pegasus napping on a cloud.

"Rainbow! Rainbow Dash?" Twilight said flying over. The blue pony stirred.

"Yup? You need me for something?" She said rubbing her eyes. "Oh, hey Twilight."

Twilight landed on the cloud. "Hey Rainbow. Can you come to a picnic I'm holding this afternoon? It'll be at noon at the library. And if possible can you bring some cloud cake?"

Rainbow nodded. "Sure Twilight, I wouldn't miss it. Hey, did you know Princess Luna was looking for you? I didn't have time to stop to talk to her and then when I came back from work she was gone."

"Oh really? I'll have to tell her I was on holiday. Thanks Rainbow. I'll see you later?"

"Sure Twilight. Bye!"

Twilight took off. "Bye Rainbow!"

As she flew towards the EverFree forest twilight saw Apple Jack walking towards Fluttershy's house. She flew down to walk beside her.

"Hey there Princess. How ya'll keeping?" Apple Jack said looking over at Twilight.

"You know you don't have to call me Princess Apple Jack. It's just plain old me."

"Yeah, but it's you with wings. But I won't call you Princess anymore sugar cube. So what's up?"

"A picnic. Everyone is invited. We're meeting at noon at the library. Bring your own food too if you don't mind. Since I've been away I don't have anything in." Twilight said smiling sheepishly. "Anyway, can you come?"

Apple Jack nodded. "Sure I can sugar cube. So will you be telling us who that mysterious pony your travellin' with is?"

Twilight made a small noise that sounded a lot like Fluttershy when she is embarrassed. "Uh huh."

A.J chuckled. "If you don't want to that's ok as well."

Twilight gave a small nod before shaking her head. "I guess I should tell you guys. I'll think about it."

They turned a corner and there was the bridge to Fluttershy's house. They crossed over and A.J knocked. "Hey Fluttershy! It's me and Twilight."

The door opened. "Hi." Fluttershy squeaked. "Come in." She said pulling back the door. The Alicorn and the earth pony stepped inside.

"Umm, can you tell me what you're both doing here... If you don't mind that is..." She said quietly letting her bangs fall in front of her face.

"Well I was just stoppin' by ta' say that Winona is feeling much better after you looking after her so well, so ya'll can come over any time if you need anything sugar cube."

Twilight smiled at Fluttershy. "And I'm here to invite you to a picnic, noon at the library. Umm, also if you could bring your own food to contribute if you don't mind."

Fluttershy nodded. "Sure Twilight. I'll just feed the animals." She went into the kitchen and quickly came back out with different animal food in bowls balanced on her wings.

She placed them down and the animals scampered over. She gave Angel his carrot before returning to the girls. "Well I'll prepare my food now, only if you don't mind though..."

The two mares nodded. "It's ok sugar cube. We'll be on our way now."

Twilight and Apple Jack turned and left, crossing the bridge and parting ways. "I'll see you later sugar cube!" Apple Jack called as Twilight flew away, calling her farewells.

Twilight smiled as she walked into the library. Spike had pen poised over paper and had a worried look on his face as he looked up and sighed as Twilight came in.

"Where have you been? You had me worried! I was ready to write to the princesses of your disappearance! And-" Spike stopped to a hoof in the mouth.

"Spike, I've been gone for five minutes more than expected, and you thought I had disappeared?" A smile grew on her face as Spike blushed then mumbled around her hoof something that might have been a maybe.

Twilight had returned from her picnic after explaining to the girls, with Pinkie's help, about the Doctor. After many question, the girls ran out of food, so decided to call it a day. The six mares had collected plates and blankets before going their separate directions.

Twilight removed her hoof and used her magic to put Spike between her wings. "Come on, it's getting late. How about I read you a book?" Spike smiled.

"I would love it!" He said snuggling into her mane, finally calm after six or seven minutes of all out panic. "I love you Twilight." He said.

"I love you too. Now, which book would you like?" She said as they reached the stairs. Spike jumped off her back and waddled over to the bookshelf and picked up a book. Twilight took both in her magic, one finding its way to her back, the other hovered in front of her.

"*A New Hope?" Twilight said questioning Spikes decision as she climbed the stairs.

"What? It's a cool book!" Spike moaned. Twilight giggled.

"Ok Spike, I'll read it to you. But if you get nightmares..." He shook his head.

"I won't, I won't, I promise." He said as she sat him down on her bed as she lay down too. He cuddled close and she wrapped a wing around him.

"Once, in a galaxy far, far away..."
