Deep in the heart of the dark mountain regions of the corner of Equestria lies the king of all darkness and the ruler of all evil: King Sombra. Everpony knows King Sombra as a ruler of hate, destruction, and utter control, but what they don't know is that he is also a father.
"Onyx! Where are you?!" King Sombra howls as he stands on the balcony of his castle that is built on the side of the mountain.
"Yes father? I'm here" a dark stallion runs in with the same black waving mane as his father, and a small cape, just like his fathers, he stops at his fathers side.
"Soon son, soon you shall rule over this land! You shall inherit your fathers legacy of being the harbinger of destruction across Equestria!" King Sombra said as he held up his hoof and stomped it down hard into the pavement. Onyx sighed.
"But dad I don't want to rule the dull and dark kingdom, I want to explore and meet new frien-" before Onyx could finish King Sombra slammed his hoof and turned to face his son.
"There will be no talk of this petty ambition of yours! And don't you even dare utter that word of friends, your friend is the darkness and nothing but the darkness, and well the occasional changeling or dark descendant from the Village Of Darkness."
Onyx sighed once more and turned to go back to his room. "Yes father...." Onyx felt sad on the inside, he didn't want to be evil because he knew no one would like him if he was, although he did have one friend he snuck out every night to see. She lived in the Crystal Empire, which wasn't to hard for Onyx to get to considering if he walked through the forest no creature would attack the son of King Sombra.
In the Crystal Empire.
Princess Cadence standing in the Foyer "Nomina! Honey where are you?!" Princess Cadence called out for her daughter. A mare came running to her moms side, the same pale white coat of her mother, and the same long dark blue mane as her father.
"Yes mom?" the mare said.
"You need to help momma today with preparing the Crystal Feast, every royal in the Equestria will be there" Nomina giggled and complied with her mother, she loved to help her mom with her royal duties, although it wasn't her dream to become air to the throne, she just wanted friends, which was hard since she was royalty.
Shining Armor walks into the foyer with two private guards by his side, one with silver hair. Shining Armor ducked down and looked at his daughter.
"Dad!" the mare ran to her father and when she reached him, Shining Armor hugged closely, Shining Armor and his daughter rarely ever get time together due to Shining Armor having so many duties at once.
"Hows my girl doing today?" as he said looking at her.
"Great, today me and momma are going to help out with the Crystal Feast!" Shining Armor laughed and walked to Cadence's side.
"That should be fun for both of you, right?" Cadence giggled and nodded. Nomina ran up to mother and father and hugged them both. Such a gentle, loving, and caring family.
Nighttime .
Crystal Empire, Crystal Feast.
"Nomina I think its time you get to bed sweetie, wouldn't want to wake up late tomorrow." Nomina groaned for she hated to go to bed early, so some thought. She kissed her mother and father and trotted to her room, although she through a rope ladder down her window and she ran out into the woods.
Nighttime .
Dark Mountain Castle .
"Son get some rest, your training was good today." Onyx took in a few breaths, Onyx had to train once in awhile to be fast, quick, and strong. He didn't mind it but he'd prefer he didn't. Onyx walked up to his father.
Sombra cracked a smile and hugged his son. Onyx nodded and walked off to his room. Onyx put his equipment up and used a dark aura to fly down into the forest. The forest was dark and damp but it was always worth the risk.
Nighttime (again)
Forest Clearing (connecting Crystal Empire and Dark Mountain)
"Woah!" Nomina said as she ducked under a branch and into the clearing. She looked around briskly.
Onyx stepped out into the clearing and saw Nomina. They both ran to each other for a friendly hug.
"I'm so glad to see you Onyx!" as she said getting her few minutes of hugs to her best friend.
"It's not like we don't sneak out every night to see each other!" they both shared a laugh and sat in the grass.
For hours upon hours they talked, they talked about what their parents were up to, what they were doing that day, whatever they liked to talk about. It was an odd sight the son of a demonic ruler, and the daughter of an elegant princess were best friends. Well nothing can get in between a good friendship, that is if not one person finds out, or the wrong people see them and decide to rat.
"You see him?" said a strange silhouette said behind a tree.
"I do, hes right there with the Princess" said the other.
"We need to tell King Sombra about this" said the one holding binoculars.
"Yes, yes we shall. My shadowbolt crew." the shadowbolts were commonly known for being evil, but they were also messengers of the evil kingdoms that still arose. The shadowbolts shared a demonic laugh and bolted into the air.
On the other side was a group of guards.
"Is that Madam Nomina? With the son of King Sombra?!" said a guard, until a private one pushed them out of the way and looked. This one took off her helmet and looked.
"Are you guys sure we should tell Princess Cadence, I mean the boy isn't harming her or anything." before he got it out her men were rushing to the castle.
"Blast!" yelled the guard and she ran after her men.
