//------------------------------// // Thoughts // Story: The Eldest // by Authora97 //------------------------------// The sun had finally risen. Celestia walked along the palace halls, eager to meet with Asa as well as her Faithful Student and newest Princess, Twilight Sparkle. It had been a chaotic week and this was a peaceful morning. Celestia had noticed some strange things about Asa as of late. The Eldest Sister had been slightly aggravated when in Celestia and Luna’s presence. After some innocent questions asked to Asa’s guards, the Sun Princess had found her attitude remained kind and loving to the ponies she met with daily as well as Twilight. So, the problem was just with the sisters. While taking quick steps to the dining hall, Celestia waited to hear the sounds of fighting or arguing or whatever Blueblood and Asa were going to have on this morning. “And that is why we don’t allow large amounts of kiwis inside the palace anymore.” Celestia heard her sister’s voice say. Followed by the sound of laughter. “I didn’t know kiwis could do that.” The voice that went with the laughter commented. The Sun Princess opened the door to reveal Asa and Twilight, each already eating breakfast and about half-way thru. “Hello Twilight. Hello Asa.” Celestia greeted. Twilight, still laughing, looked up at her teacher. “Good Morning Princess.” She greeted, resisting the urge to bow. Celestia let out a small, yet joyful, sigh. “Twilight I told you. We’re on the same level now so you don’t have to address me as Princess, Celestia will do fine.” The two didn’t see it, but Asa was giving her sister a look of scorn. Yes, she had been acting different than her usual cheery self but there was a perfectly logical and reasonable explanation for that. She wasn’t Asa, but a far more terrifying creature known simple as Blood Dawn. Charming name, isn’t it? For the past week, Blood Dawn (Dawn for short, or Blood when she felt like it was needed) had been keeping the human queen trapped in the Vault. The disguised alicorn was now trying to find a way to get revenge on her betraying sisters and that draconequus without anypony realizing it was her. She needed the public’s favor and finding out she acted harshly towards Celestia or Luna would not help things. So Dawn was taking things slowly, trying to avoid the sisters at all costs. Lest they discover Asa had been switched. All the while keeping up appearances. Right now, she was gaining favor with the newest Princess, Twilight Sparkle. Who just so happened to be Celestia’s Faithful Student. Dawn realized this and it took everything she had not to laugh maniacally. Oh, getting her revenge was gonna be sweet. “What say you, Asa?” Celestia asked, breaking Blood Dawn out of her thoughts. “Hmm? Sorry, I was deep in thought. What were we discussing?” The disguised alicorn asked. Twilight gave a small chuckle. “Just about what I should call Princess Celestia. What do you think?” Dawn placed her hand under her chin, in thought. Though not as deep as before. “Call her what she asks you to call her. It’s kind and courteous.” Dawn explained, trying to avoid saying her traitor of a sister’s name. The purple alicorn nodded, turning to the white alicorn. “Okay, Celestia it is.” Twilight cheered. “Hurrah!” Dawn cheered while raising her glass of apple juice. “A toast to finally using first name’s!” The other two alicorns raised their glasses (Celestia’s having arrived during the conversation) and took mighty golpes. Dawn stared at the white alicorn she sadly called sister, plans for what to do coming to a close. ‘Ah, yes. That will do quite nicely.’ Meanwhile, deep down in Canterlot Mountain, a prisoner continued to try and escape her bonds. She was trying first to rip them from the wall, then bending them, then just going crazy on them in hopes they would break from her screaming if nothing else. With a heavy cry the Queen feel to the floor, stumped. She had tried everything she could think of. None had worked to help her escape from the metal chains placed by her evil half. She had been there a week and it showed. Her hair was severely knotted and much less beautiful than when she arrived. The hunger pains had recently shown as well as her thin stomach. If one removed the dress around her stomach, one would see bruises and cuts from multiple buckings to it. Her eyes were starting to look hollow, the Queen’s hope was slowly fading. Blood Dawn brought food only once, saying she wanted to keep the Freak alive until she was no longer needed. Asa visibly shuddered, the thought of what that deranged alicorn would do to her filled her mind. Thankfully, she hadn’t had a vision of what it was. The only ones she did have were of somepony attacking her sisters. As much as she hated saying it, Asa could do nothing to protect them. “Let Mother and Father have mercy on thy soul Blood Dawn.” Asa croaked out. Before any more could be said or done, the Queen fainted. In the gardens a draconequus floated along the green hedges and colorful arrangements of flowers. His thoughts circling all around, just the way he liked it. Except, this time the thoughts all focused on one major theme. Three guesses as to what. Even after that conversation they had the next morning, Discord could still feel the touch of her lips hitting his cheek. It felt nice. Gave the Lord of Chaos a warm feeling in his chest. Although the girl said otherwise, Discord could tell it did for her too. Of course, he couldn’t find the courage to say it to Asa’s face. Now, all Discord had to do was figure out how to say it. Luna’s dreamscape was, believe or not, peaceful. Yes, peaceful. Even with all the stressing events that had taken place, Luna’s subconscious gave the brightest dreams. Of course, the Night Princess having mastered Lucid Dreaming helped considerably. Today, Luna was dreaming of her family. All of them. From her parents in the sky, to her niece and nephew-in-law in the Frozen North. They were all enjoying a glorious night. Luna was laughing with Celestia and Cadence, her parents were off to the side simply watching it all, Asa and Shining Armor were somehow engaging in a fun battle game and the Captain of the Guard was losing horribly. While the Moon Princess laughed, a small flicker of light caught her attention. It was a familiar one, one she always saw when a pony was dreaming. Finding it odd somepony would sleep this early, Luna flew towards it, the dreamscape behind her fading. As the dream approached Luna could already tell twas not just a dream But a nightmare. Her pace doubling, Luna nearly blasted into the dream. Crashing into it being a better term. What she saw confused her. It was the Vault, only emptier and the dark aura around it did nothing to help. With only a hooful of candles keeping the place lit, Luna could just barely see two figures. One pony, one not. “Hahaha! You actually think I would let them life Freakshow? HA! After what they did to me? To Us?!” Luna could only hear a cough as the response. “What was that? Sorry I don’t speak Freak-ish.” The Night Princess didn’t know who the pony was, by the voice rang a bell and Luna didn’t like the mocking tone in the mare’s voice. “P-p-please D-D-Dawn...don’t hurt them. Please.” The other form stuttered. Asa! But why was she even asleep at this hour? And having such a strange nightmare at that? The pony form laughed. Cruel, mocking laughter. “Fat chance. When I’m done with those three, then I’ll deal with your pathetic carcass. That is, if the starvation doesn’t kill you first.” The voice laughed again, moving just barely in view of the light. Luna could only see a sunrise orange coat and a small bit of the midnight blue mane. The pony’s eyes began to glow in a similar fashion to King Sombra, blue smoke even spilling from her eyes. “No! Leave them out of this Dawn! They’re innocent!” Asa screamed from the wall. Before anymore could be asked, two more figures were placed into the room. Both large ponies. The mare Luna realized to be Dawn laughed as the two ponies were brutally mutilated, giving just enough light so one could see them falling apart, but not enough to see whom. “NO!” Asa screamed. “It’s all your fault Asa, you should’ve been trying harder on being there those thousands of years.” Dawn cackled before she too faded away. Moving closer to her sister, Luna heard a single sentence. “I should’ve stayed.” The dream vanished for Luna, the Princess shooting up from her bed covers. Fur and mane clinging to her from the sweat. Without another word, the youngest of the Royal Sisters ran towards the room of the Queen. Figuring her sister was still in there, suffering from the nightmare she was having. The guards watching the door stepped aside when seeing the panicked Princess running towards them, allowing her to run into the room. “Sister!” The mare yelled. Luna’s words were cut short when she noticed her human sister, fully awake and sitting at her desk. “Luna, what are you doing awake?” Asa asked, sounding as though she didn’t entirely care. “Sister! We saw you having a nightmare. We simply wished-” Her eldest sister cut her off. “Luna, twas most likely a daydream. I’ve been having them lately. It was nothing to be concerned over.” “But Asa-” “No. Go back to your quarters and get sleep. You need it for tonight and I won’t let you ruin your system over something as trivial as a daydream! Now be off.” Asa ordered. Before Luna could say more, she felt her tail being lifted into the air and dragged out of Asa’s room. Now Luna had a reason to worry. The magic was blue.
