//------------------------------// // Chapter 38 Bees // Story: The Slow Mo Stallions // by gamershot //------------------------------// They arrived at the park together very shortly, and trotted through the gate onto the lush, green grass. "So, about 'dem bits?" hinted Dan with a slight giggle. "I'm gonna tell you once we get a place to sit!" grunted Long Shot, once again. "Yeah, hold your horses Dan." added Gavin, receiving some funny looks from Long Shot and Rainbow Dash. "Uh, what's that supposed to mean?" she asked, looking to Gavin. "Oh!" he gasped, "Oh, nothing, just a figure of speech from... Where we're from." Gavin chuckled sheepishly. Long Shot mentally filed away that tidbit of information and scoured the park for a nice place to sit, before spotting a nice shady patch of grass by a tree. "Come on, there’s a place." he said, walking forward. The three others followed him through the small crowd of ponies to the spot Long Shot wanted. They sat down on the grass in the shade, ready to hear Long Shot's story. "Alright, so as you probably gathered by now, I'm pretty rich." he began. "Yep." agreed Gavin. Long Shot narrowed his eyes, "Okay, so you're probably wondering just how much money I've got so-" "Yep." said Dan, with a nod. "Stop interrupting me then!" "Oh, sorry." laughed Dan with a smile. Long shot rolled his eyes and started again. "Right, so last I checked, I personally have roughly two hundred twelve million bits.” he said quickly, “I have no idea what the family as a whole is at, but we could probably buy Cloudsdale if we wanted." He added as he scratched his head. Gavin and Dan's eyes widened. "Bloody hell!" muttered Dan. "Christ alive!" added Gavin. "Well, yeah." Long Shot continued, "My Great, Great Grandfather, Long Shot the First, opened the first department store in Equestria, then Long Shot the Third practically took over the fireworks industry, and my father is business partners with Fancy Pants." "Wow, cool story dude." chuckled Gavin with a smile. "Yeah." agreed Dan. "So... are you going to pay for the damages?" asked Rainbow Dash with a half smile. "Probably, I mean, I have more money than I know what to do with." he chuckled. "You could buy us some bevs!" laughed Gavin happily. "Hahhaha, no." muttered Long Shot. "No way in pony hell am I doing that again. Not after last time." "Oh cheer up it wasn't that bad!" chuckled Dan. "Tell that to AJ." giggled Rainbow Dash. They sat talking in the sun for another hour, enjoying each others company. Despite him slowly gaining trust in Gavin and Dan, Long Shot still knew there was something fishy about them. He needed someone to talk to about his suspicions, make sure he wasn't just going mad and falsely accusing the stallions. "Well, I gotta go okay, I need to get to work now." he lied with a smile as he hovered above them. "No you don’t, you’re not on today and you just got out of the hospital." Rainbow Dash assured happily. "I was gonna put in for overtime, I could use the bits... Bye!" he yelled, darting away from them and towards Ponyville. Rainbow Dash looked at the others with a raised eyebrow. "That was weird." she mumbled. "Yeah..." agreed Dan. "Real weird." added Gavin. "Anyway, Fluttershy asked me to go see her at lunch time to help her feed the animals." said Rainbow Dash, with a smile. "Oh, why can't she do it herself?" asked Gavin, enjoying the park. "Because she broke her leg stupid!" replied Rainbow Dash, smacking his fringe. "Hey, don't smack my fringe!" winged Gavin, pushing it back down into place. The cyan mare stood up and stretched her legs into the air, flapping her wings for support. "Come on Gavin, don't be mean." said Dan, also stood up now. "Okay, okay, let's go." agreed the pegasus slowly climbing to his hooves. Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and started walking slowly; Dan followed her too, making Gavin hop up and trot to catch up. "You've been to Fluttershy's already, right?" asked Rainbow Dash as she walked. "Yeah, back when we were human." replied Gavin, "Wow, that was weird to say." he added, looking around. "Everything about this is weird, I mean, we're talking ponies." chuckled Dan, looking at his hooves. "Pfft, and you're not weird?" scoffed Rainbow Dash, "Two legged, furless beasts!" "Meh, fair play." laughed Gavin. Over the past few days he'd almost forgotten where he was. It was surreal to be in a different world, to have a different body. He thought that it would've affected him more than it did. Even though they were somewhere fantastic, they were Gavin and Dan; having fun and spending time with friends. He didn't feel in such a hurry now, but he still sure as hell wanted to go home. Rainbow Dash led them along the dirt path, until a small cottage was in sight. It was cute and cozy looking, with animals littered around it. It wasn't too far off from a large forest too; a very sinister looking forest.... "Here we are!" yelled the pegasus, doing an effortless front flip in the air. "Rainbow Dash you have style for days." chuckled Gavin as he trotted past her and towards the cottage. Dan followed Gavin past a confused Rainbow Dash and walked up to the door of the house. He tapped on the door gently and heard struggled hoof steps come to the door. "Oh, hello Dan, hello Gavin, nice to see you." she said quietly, smiling. "A'right Flutters?" greeted Dan happily. Fluttershy looked okay, other than her left foreleg which was in a bandage and held up with a sling. It looked pretty painful at first, but she was still able to walk. Plus it wouldn't take too long to heal. "Are you here with Rainbow Dash to help me?" she asked softly, her voice oozing kindness and gentleness. Dan nodded his head and with that Fluttershy invited them inside. Rainbow Dash flew in too, and took a seat on the sofa. "Just wait there, I'll get the bowls of food." instructed Fluttershy, limping into the kitchen followed by a small white bunny. "So what exactly are we doing?" asked Gavin, joining the pegasus on the sofa. "We're just gonna help her feed some of the animals." she explained, "Gavin, you and I can get the birds and Dan can sort the chickens or something." "Aren't chickens birds?" asked Dan. "I meant flying birds." sighed Rainbow Dash with a slight smile. Fluttershy then returned to the room with three bowls of animal food. One was filled with seeds, one was filled with corn and one was filled with flowers. "Uhm, here you go, this one's for you Dan, you can feed the chickens.... Please" she said, handing the bowl full of corn to Dan. "Cool." said Dan, grabbing the bowl with his magic. Rainbow Dash then dived across the room and grabbed the bowl full of seeds. "I'll got this one!" she yelled with a sheepish smile. Fluttershy and Gavin gave her an odd look. "I... really like the birds" she muttered. "Oh... that's nice." mumbled the shy yellow pony. "Gavin that leaves you." she said, handing Gavin the bowl full of flowers. "Top, what animal is this for?" he asked, "Rabbits? Hamsters?" "No... Bees." she said with a forced smile. Gavin's face dropped. He looked at Fluttershy with wide eyes. "BEES?!" he yelled. "Yeah... I'm afraid so... They should be good but..." she trailed off, walking backwards into the kitchen. Rainbow Dash grabbed Gavin's shoulder and pulled him outside. "Alright let's go! Bee hive's over there! Good luck!" She shouted, pushing Gavin over to the hive. "Bees..." he gulped.
