//------------------------------// // Musicians Meet // Story: More than What You Think // by Silent Wars of Minds //------------------------------// I told how Octavia and I first met, at that competition. I was trying hard then to show my parents that I was a good musician. I don't think they really cared when I brought home second place in a fury. My dad just shrugged and told me to keep trying and never give up. He was also reading the newspaper, but I didn't care. I practiced more than I had ever done. I spent as much time as possible on my guitar. I also did some studying for school, but mostly played my guitar. I was never going to give up. My first job was as a street performer. I played my guitar on the street and got lots of money from doing that. I really was an awesome musician. Yet once again my parents were too busy with their own jobs to notice. I don't really remember it bothering me that much. Except for whenever I would be asked to perform somewhere. That did bug me a bit. I was hoping they would notice how much people loved listening to me perform. But they never did. It was during my third year that I started to learn how to DJ. A customer asked me if I wanted to know how, and offered to teach me for 5 bits a week. I agreed. I had so much bits that I didn't know what to do with them. I found that learning to DJ came natural to me, like a cat learning to hunt. It wasn't long before I was being a DJ for parties. I loved it. And it helped me later on in the fourth year. You remember what caused Tavi and I to meet again? The remix song? I'll tell you how we did it. After figuring out what we were going to do, Octavia was worried that we would have to hire a DJ to put the recordings together. I told her that I knew how to DJ, so it wouldn't be any problem. Octavia recorded her piece, the original Wedding March. It was brilliant. Next, I recorded my guitar version. Even Tavi told me it was amazing. Last, I put it all together. The beginning was Tavi's cello. The middle rocked out with my guitar. And the end finished with ours put together, along with some extra things added by me. When it had ended, everyone was standing up in amazment. You remember me getting the scholarship? And the fight? Good. I did not want to repeat myself. I hated that fight. My next years in college with Octavia as my room mate really changed my life. I had finally had someone who supported my interest in music.
