//------------------------------// // Chapter 1: No Title For You! // Story: Blazing Rainbow // by SuperSexyRainbowDash //------------------------------// Blaze was new in town, both Ponyville and Cloudsdale. But that didn’t stop him, he was the Blaze! He was one of the fastest Pegasus ponies ever known to Equestria. It was something he prided himself on very much. When he was just a colt, he wasn’t much for showing off or bragging, but now things were different. Now that he was maturing and had his cutie mark, he felt a constant need to prove himself, but was still good natured and never lost sight of the fun of the game. He knew that Cloudsdale was home to the prestigious Wonderbolt’s HQ was, and he hoped he would get a chance to meet them. On his way to his newly bought home, he noticed a strikingly attractive mare. She had an amazing rainbow colored mane and a rather good figure, slightly muscular, but delicate at the same time. She looked no older than him. Wow, he thought to himself. She’s beautiful. I wonder who she is. Then it all came rushing to him. Wait a minute! Rainbow mane? That must be Rainbow Dash! I’ve heard that she’s good looking, but this is insane! As the last thought passed, he smiled secretively to himself. He’d heard of Rainbow Dash before. She was the only known pony in Equestria able to perform a Sonic Rainboom. Though other ponies had their own separate variations of it (not to mention the very few that actually could break the sound barrier) there was something about the Sonic Rainboom that was more… intense. Maybe it was the bright flash of colors, or the huge rush of wind and warmth that passed over you when it hit, or the rainbow ensemble trail that followed behind the performer. Whatever the reason, Blaze liked the Rainboom the best. He’d managed to break the sound barrier only once before. It was spectacular. He’d been racing with his friends as usual, but soon enough like all their other games, it turned into a full-blown, winner take all scenario. He was several lengths behind his friend Jolt. As they went into the final downward spiral to the finish, he was picking up speed quickly. Blaze had a huge advantage, since Jolt was slightly underweight; he couldn’t pick up as much speed as Blaze. He felt the vapor cone before he saw it. His coat turned wet as it formed around his body. Then the unmistakable form of a cone appeared, and his eyes turned wider as realization struck him. He couldn’t believe it, he was about to break the sound barrier! The cone turned into a cylinder, and he felt the increasingly strong whip of the wind on his body before finally…BOOM! He saw a great aura of fire emanate from his body as he smashed though the sound barrier. He chanced a look behind him and saw a truly amazing sight. A magnificent trail of fire was trailing his body, heating his tail, but not burning it, incredibly enough. He snapped out of his memory when he came to an abrupt and painful halt in midair. An enormous pain had erupted in his nose. He tenderly touched his forehoof to it and drew back when he felt a burning pain. When he looked at his hoof, he saw blood. “Oh great,” he muttered to himself, rolling his eyes. “Just great.” He looked around for a brief moment to see what had caused his unwelcome stop. He found his answer when he saw a light pole standing in front of him. The next thing he noticed was that there were a group of mares nearby giggling intensely at the sight of him looking around in what was obvious confusion. He tried to smile it off, but he felt a dribble of blood drop down into his mouth. He licked it away in another wave of confusion, having forgotten about it for a moment. This in turn caused the mares to giggle even harder. Deciding before he could do anything else embarrassing, he flied off, a small smile and little red on his face. All of a sudden, he saw a flash of rainbow overhead. Wow, he thought to himself. She is fast. He quickly turned upwards, hoping to talk to her. He had to fly as fast as she could to catch up with her. Once he was in what he thought was a reasonable shouting distance, he called out to her. “Hey!” he shouted. She broke her flight pattern abruptly and turned spun around with wide eyes, coming to a sudden stop. “You sca- I mean you um, surprised me!” She said, trying to regain her composure. She took note that he was a rather good looking stallion. “Sorry to have er, surprised you.” He said with a nervous smile. “That’s okay. Nothing the Dash can’t handle.” She smiled reassuringly at him. His insides burned suddenly. “Okay, if you’re sure….” He said with a raised eyebrow and a smirk. Rainbow, obviously one experienced in sarcasm, laughed a little and hoofed his shoulder. “Oh, be quiet. Okay, you scared me, you happy now? Or do you want a medal, too?” Blaze laughed at her wisecrack. “Yeah, a medal would be nice.” He retorted. She held it in for a few seconds before they both burst into simultaneous laughter. Then he was serious again in an instant. He began to eye her up and down excitedly, as if to make sure it was really her. This made her slightly uncomfortable. “Uh, what are you doing?” His face turned an intense shade of red as he dropped his gaze. “Sorry.” He said quickly. “I just can’t believe it’s actually you! The one and only Rainbow Dash! Only pony able to pull off a Sonic Rainboom, fastest flier in all of Equestria!” He rushed his words, excited beyond all belief. “Yep, that’s me!” She said proudly, her head held high and her tail swishing jauntily through the air behind her. “Wow, I’ve always heard you were cute, but….man!”” This caught her off guard. She looked away quickly, hiding a blush. He thinks I’m cute? She thought delightedly. “Wanna go for a quick fly?” he asked. “I’m kinda new around here, and if you wanted, could you show me around? I’d rather go with somepony I know than some complete stranger.” He asked nervously. In his head, though, he was in a rage. Idiot! Idiot, idiot, idiot! What was I thinking? What in the name of Celestia was I thinking?! I barely know her and I’ve called her cute! Now she probably thinks I’m some weirdo player. “Sure!” She said happily. He breathed out a silent sigh of relief. Oh, good, at least she doesn’t hate me now. “You coming or what?” He heard her say and for the first time, Blaze noticed that she was already far ahead of him. “Or am I too fast for you?” She called, an amused expression on her face. “You’re on!” He shouted back to her. He then zoomed forward at breakneck speed, catching up to her almost immediately. “Shall we go?” She brushed her tail up against his side ever so softly, and smiled mischievously at him, before darting ahead. “Yes, let’s!” She shouted back to him. He laughed and flew forward, working to match her amazing speed. As he neared her, he noticed there was something that was incredibly sexy about her. Was it her rainbow mane and tail, flowing gracefully through the air as they zoomed along at near super-sonic speeds? Or was it her figure, perfect I every aspect, down to her face? Maybe her attitude, always ready for a challenge, proud, never wanting to slow down? He smiled to himself and settled on all three. They both laughed as they soared through the open air, free as anypony could be. They finally came to a stop after a while, worn out by flying so fast for so long. “That was really fun,” panted Rainbow Dash “we should do that again sometime.” “Yeah, definitely.” Responded Blaze, exhilarated after such a good flight. “Wanna race back?” “Let’s do it. Three, two, one… GO!” They both zoomed through the air, each trying to lose the other, but neither prevailing. The fact that they had barely stopped for a rest made it that much more fun. Even though there were two of them, it felt as if there were only one Pegasi soaring through the air at the moment. Both were matching the others moves perfectly, not missing a single beat. She looked over at him and smiled, but he was already looking at her, and already smiling. Rainbow looked away, concealing yet another blush. They zoomed upwards, going as far as they deemed safe, before rocketing back down to the grassy Equestrian land. He started to feel the vapor wetting his coat, before seeing the water droplets race past his body. Even though he hadn’t looked behind himself, Blaze could tell he was losing her. The cone once more transformed into a cylinder, he was almost there! And then, BOOM! A huge burst of fire once again erupted from around his body, the trademark fire trailing him. He had forgotten just what a wonderful feeling it was to break the sound barrier. He looked back, and saw the priceless expression on Rainbow Dash’s face. She was more than awestruck. He laughed and pushed himself to go faster. But then the look on her face changed from pure amazement to fright. He got confused. What would cause her to- THUMP. And then everything went black. He drifted in and out of consciousness for a while. When he came to for good, he noticed he was in bed. The next thing he noticed was that he was in extreme pain. Blaze saw that Rainbow Dash had embedded her face in his mane. “Ohh… what the hay happened?” She snapped her head up at the sound of his voice. Tears glazed her beautiful rose eyes. “Oh, thank Celestia you’re ok! I thought I was beginning to lose you!” He moaned in pain again. “I wouldn’t say “ok”. I feel horrible. Where am I? And what the hay happened?” He was utterly confused. The last thing he remembered was the horrified look on Rainbow Dash’s face, and everything from that point forward was fuzzy to say the least. “Well, when you pulled off that, whatever it was, you were going so fast, and it was so cool and… oh! I should have warned you, but I was speechless, and, and-” She burst into tears and collapsed on top of him, causing intense pain and a warm fuzziness to pass through him. He fought past the pain and held her close, comforting her as much as possible. He said as soothingly as he could, “It’s okay, I’m fine, it’s okay…” He stroked her mane softly, hoping it would lull her back into calmness. From what she had said, he assumed he had crashed into the ground. Blaze now understood why she was so upset. He considered himself lucky to be alive right now. “So much for that grand tour, eh?” Rainbow made a choking sound, stuck between a sob and a laugh. After a couple minutes of his consoling words she calmed back down. “Alright, now what happened?” he asked once again. “When you crashed,-” his suspicions were confirmed. “I thought you’d died. But you were still breathing, so I brought you back to my place.” “Well, I can see you’ve done a pretty good job with me for the time being. Thanks.” He smiled up at her reassuringly. She smiled back down, but tears still swam her eyes, some occasionally spilling out. “You know, I think you look pretty when you’re upset.” He said quietly. He wiped a tear off her cheek gently. “Hay, you look pretty all the time.” He smiled up at her. Where did that come from?! He'd only known her for a day and he was already pulling this? But it looked like she was comforted by this statement. He wasn’t sure whether he should ask to stay there until he was better or not. He certainly didn’t want to interrupt her everyday life. She was a pony that needed to fly, not be stranded taking care of a pony she barely knew! But in the end, he decided he would give it a shot. “Um, you wouldn’t mind if I stayed here until I got better, would you? I mean, if it isn’t alright with you, I totally understand, but-” She held a hoof to his mouth to silence him and giggled. “Of course you’re staying here! You aren’t in any condition to go anywhere anytime soon.” A look of concern passed over her face. “Oh, how could I forget? Are you feeling ok?” He thought for a moment before responding. “To be honest, I feel like crap, but that’s probably ‘cause I slammed into the ground at over seven hundred miles an hour.” Rainbow Dash looked like she was stuck between a stern face and an amused one, giving her a comical appearance. Finally, she settled on a small chuckle before asking “Is there anything I can do to make you more comfortable?” She asked, concern still lacing her tone. He shook his head and said “Nope, I’m fine.” She looked at him closely, as if detecting for a lie. Finding none, she said, “Okay then, well I guess I’m going to bed.” before walking out. Blaze spoke up as loud as he could “I thought you said you were going to bed.” “I am. And since you’re in here, I thought I would sleep on the couch.” He laughed a little before saying, “Oh, it’s okay, get over here.” She turned round and walked over to him, but hesitated to get in. “Are you sure this won’t hurt you?” she asked nervously. “Or be awkward for you?” she added a couple seconds later. “Yes, I’m sure. Now get over here.” He said playfully, motioning with his head for her to get in. She got in as slowly and carefully as possible. By the time she was halfway on, he grabbed her and pulled her in. She squealed and fell on top of him. He laughed at her, not even caring about the pain he was feeling. “Doesn’t this hurt?” she asked fearfully. “Yes, but it doesn’t matter. Not with you here.” Her face flushed with red from embarrassment. She rolled over so she wasn’t on top of him anymore. He too turned and rested his back legs over hers. “Wait, this doesn’t bother you does it?” he asked nervously. She replied “Not in the least. “ He smiled to himself and fell asleep. When he woke up, he found he had buried his nose into her mane. He inhaled, to see what it smelled like. It was a wonderful smell. It was a mix of morning dew and the fresh air. He smiled and laid his head down onto her back. Without even realizing it, he fell back asleep. When he woke up the second time, he found himself looking into the smiling face of Rainbow Dash. “Hey, you.” She said in a slightly playful tone. “Hey to you, too.” He said back, smiling the whole time. She moved in closer, nuzzling him softly, causing a wave of warmth and happiness to spread through him. “You all right? Hurting or anything?” Asked Rainbow in a caring voice. “Not with you here.” He said quietly. She smiled and nuzzled him again, and this time he nuzzled back. But then, something came over him. He leaned forward slowly and kissed her. It was just a quick kiss, but a kiss nonetheless. It definitely caught her off guard. She drew back a little, surprised at this sudden development. He looked extremely embarrassed and hastily began to say sorry, but before he could finish it, she kissed him back. But this time, it was a full and deep kiss, not quick and unsure. And this time, he kissed back, too. When they finally drew out of it, both their faces were red from uncertainty. Neither was completely sure about what had just happened. Finally, Blaze built up the nerve to ask “Was that as awesome for you as it was for me?” She replied with “Even better.” He smiled at her once again. Rainbow Dash got up and said “Well, I need to go into town for food, you have anything in particular that you like?” He thought for a moment. “Well, I do like pie…..” Rainbow giggled intensely at this. “What?” Blaze asked, bemused. “Oh, nothing, nothing.” She thought to herself Boy, it seems like all Pegasi stallions have a hunger for pie, as her mind crossed Soarin’, one of the Wonderbolts. She flew down to Sweet Apple Acres to get the pie. When Applejack came out, she called out in greeting. “Well, howdy Rainbow! Fancy seein’ you here this early! What can ah do for yeh?” Can I get a couple of apple pies, please?” Applejack nodded “Sure thing, Rainbow!” She began to trot off to get one, but stopped and came back. “Wait a second… You’ve never really taken an interest in mah pies before. What makes you want one now?” Rainbow Dash sighed and thought for a moment. “It’s a complicated story.” She began. “Well, I was out cruising Cloudsdale when I met this stallion. He said he was new around here, so I thought I’d show him around. But, er, we kinda got carried away and started racing.” Applejack smirked at Rainbow. “Of course. Leave it up to you to turn something completely normal into a race.” Rainbow retorted “Look, you wanna listen or not?” Applejack laughed. “Ah guess ah am a mite interested in what yer talking about.” Rainbow continued. “And, when we were going into the final dive, he pulled off something like a Sonic Rainboom, but with fire!” Applejack nodded once more. “Ah do recall that happenin’. Nopony was sure what to think of it. Was a bit of a shock to us all .” “And when he did it, I was speechless, and I didn’t warn him in time, and he-” Rainbow cut off, unable to relieve that moment again, but Applejack could get the general picture. “Anyway, I brought him back to my place to heal him up a bit, until he’s able to fly again. And uh, just between you and me, we ah, kinda are into each other, if you know what I mean.” Realization struck Applejack and she nodded at her. “Ah understand, Rainbow. In fact, ah’m happy fer yeh. High time you got a buckfriend, if yah ask me.” Rainbow nodded softly and laughed a little. “Thanks, Applejack.” And with that, Rainbow paid her and flew back up to Cloudsdale to give Blaze his pie. When she got back home, she saw that he had fallen asleep. Not wanting to wake him up, since he needed to rest to get better, she laid the pie next to him, for him to get it whenever he awoke. She smiled as she looked down at him, and crawled in next to him, burying her nose into his mane. The steady rise and fall of his chest soothed her, and even though it was still very early in the morning, it lulled her to sleep. Blaze awoke first, and immediately dealt with the pie sitting next to him, having not eaten anything for over a day now, which must have been a record for him. He then looked over at the form of Rainbow Dash curled up next to him. She looks so cute when she’s sleeping, he thought to himself, and kissed her on the nose softly. When she stirred slightly, he smiled. He laid back down, incredibly tired even after a good rest. He assumed that it was because of his condition. He very quickly fell back asleep. When he awoke once more, Rainbow was gone. A note had been left for him that said that she had gone to get food. Down in Ponyville, Rainbow Dash had run into her friends while getting the food she had forgotten earlier. Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, and Applejack all had smirks on their faces. Fluttershy had a nervous smile on her face, and Pinkie Pie was even more hyped up than usual. To Rainbow Dash, this could mean only one thing. “You told them?!” she asked incredulously. Applejack just barely stifled a laugh. Rainbow got angry. “I don’t know if it means much to you farm ponies, but “between you and me” usually means keep it to yourself. Or if that isn’t clear enough, it means keep your mouth shut!” Applejack couldn’t handle it any longer. She burst into laughter, making Rainbow even angrier. Rarity now had a half-amused, half-understanding look on her face. “Now, Rainbow, dear, if you weren’t going to tell us, then who was? All of us agree that this is wonderful for you. Don’t we girls?” she asked “Um, oh, yes, this is great.” Said Fluttershy. “Yes, I think this is excellent for you, Rainbow Dash.” Said Twilight. “Oh, this is great! Isn’t this great? It’s so exciting, isn’t it? I know I’m excited! So excellent! I just love this!” Exclaimed Pinkie Pie all in one breath. Feeling she couldn’t argue with this, she sighed. “Oh, I guess you’re right.” Turning back to Applejack she said “But that still doesn’t mean you should have told them.” “What can ah say? Element of Honesty.” She smirked again. Rainbow opened her mouth to retort, but Rarity, seeing another argument coming, interjected. “No, it doesn’t mean she should have told us Rainbow, I agree with you.” She said looking over at Applejack. “But again, we would want to know this. If you ever come into town with him, what will you say then?” Rainbow sighed again. “Okay, okay.” She turned to Applejack. “Truce?” Applejack nodded. “Truce.” Rarity smiled. “That settles that quite nicely, now doesn’t it?” They all nodded, Rainbow a little more reluctantly than the others. She continued to do her shopping quickly and rushed back up to Cloudsdale. When she got back, she saw he wasn’t in bed. She immediately started to panic. Oh, Celestia, where has he gone? He hasn’t left has he?! But then he came out of the kitchen with the remains of the other pie on his face. He smiled as soon as he saw her. “Hey, beautiful.” She breathed out a sigh of relief. “Oh thank Celestia you’re still here.” Blaze looked confused. “Why the hay would I leave?” She began to blush slightly. Catching on, he said “Well, thanks to you, I can walk again. Well, not exactly walking…more like wobbling or limping, but in any case I’m back on my feet. Never thought I would be able to so fast. Still won’t be able to fly for a long while, though.” Then Blaze looked out the window, a wistful expression on his face. “You should get back to bed, you know. Walking around isn’t going to do you any good.” He smiled. “Oh all right, but only because you asked.” He somewhat reluctantly got back into the bed and said “There, happy?” Rainbow giggled a bit. “Very.”
