7 days

Prologue

Have you ever lived with talking ponies before? No, I guess you wouldn't have; the notion on its own is probably ridiculous. So you'll probably think I'm crazy for saying that without these walking, talking horses, who knows what would have happened to me.

About a week ago, my life was meaningless. I was laid off of work, my wife left me, and all my friends deserted me. My life was empty, meaningless, like a old rag doll. Yet that one faithful day happened. That day ponies came into my life; that crazy idea, that became a reality, changing my life in ways I didn't think imaginable.

This, is my story...of how a group of ponies helped me turn my life around

7 Days

by Dragonfufu

Just like any other day, my life was getting more miserable than the last. Without friends or family, the only comfort I seemed to have was the television...at least until the electricity shut off, leaving me slumped in my couch with only darkness accompanying me.

Knock Knock

Great, the door. Normally, the only people who ever stop by to visit are the people trying to foreclose my home. Though to be honest, the chance of anyone buying this wreckage of a house was slim to none.

"Coming!" I called out lazily lifting myself off of the sofa. I was in no real hurry to answer the door since this would probably be the last time I would ever have a place to live. It was only a matter of time before they came for my home. As I opened the door, I wasn't greeted by someone, rather something. A tall, white unicorn with a flowing, rainbow mane. I couldn't believe (nor did I want to) that a giant unicorn with wings was standing outside my complex.

"Greetings fellow citizen," she said looking inside my dark, depressing home, "looks like your place has seen better days."

And it talked too? "Oh great, I've fallen so deep into depression I'm hallucinating about stupid ponies," I sighed to myself.

"Oh trust me, this isn't a hallucination! I am Princess Celestia, ruler of Eque..."

I wasn't up to hearing anymore of the nonsense coming from my depraved mind, so I closed the door before this "Princess Celestia" could continue her statement.

"How do you prefer your tea? Hot or cold?"

I flinched at the familiar sound. I turned around to see the same horse in my dining room, smiling at me.

"What the...how the hell did you..." I stammered trying to figure out how this creature managed to enter my home.

"I am a walking talking unicorn," she began giggling. "You can't honestly think I follow the laws of normal humans."

She had a point. I still wasn't too confident she even existed in the first place, but I practically was at wits end anyways, so talking to a unicorn, even if it is a figment of my imagination, wouldn't really be a big issue.

"Fine then," I sighed sitting on my couch. "What are you exactly, and why are you here?"

"Like I said outside I am Princess Celestia, one of the ruling sisters of Equestria. I am here to offer you an opportunity to change your life for the better."

She levitated a warm cup of tea to the arm of my couch waiting for a reply. "Look, no offense but I'm not taking advice from a talking girls fantasy! I can take care of myself. I always have."

"Yes, and from what I see, you've done a good job of taking care of yourself," she replied taking small sips of her tea. She made her point very bluntly, and truthfully for that matter.

"Yeah, well you didn't have to be smart about it,"

"Sorry," Celestia responded finally setting her mug down, "but if you give me the chance to help you change your life, I promise a very rewarding and enriching result."

There was worse that could have happened that day. In fact, I was expecting to have been thrown out of my own home, so even an offer from what I was still debating whether she was a figment of my imagination or not was kind of refreshing. It was really the only other option I had at this point.

"Alright then, what did you have in mind?" I asked gaining a satisfactory smile from the princess.

"Before I help you get your life back in order, I will assign a pony to you everyday for six days. You will live with them, learn from them, and each day you will report to me by writing what you've learned."

"Yay! I have to spend a whole week with six more of you fictional creatures. That's just fantastic!" I sarcastically responded.

"You can refer to us however you want. What I want to know is if you are willing to accept this."

"I don't really have a choice now do I?" I replied fully complying with this mare's plans.

"Well, if you take in anything from this week long experience, I guarantee you will not be disappointed," she smiled leaving the dining room and heading for the front door. "Now, I suggest you get some rest."

"Rest?" I asked puzzled. "It's not even noon yet!"

"Trust me, with the first pony you're staying with, you're going to need the energy," she stated as she began to open the door and leave my home. "I'll see you in about a week."

And with that she was gone. I still couldn't fathom what had just happened, but whatever it was, I was offered a second chance at getting my life in order. There was a small sliver of hope making me believe that this could work, though that sliver wasn't enough to pierce through my sadness.

I went towards my room and flopped on top of my bed, wondering if any of this was real, if she really could turn my life around, and who I would be spending my week with. As I laid on the bed thinking about the event, I felt myself slipping into sleep. Well, nothing else to do but wait to see what happens.
