Lyra Heartstrings was trotting around in the dead of night. She carried her lyre around.
“Man,” Lyra said to herself. “Practice today was brutal. I’ll bet Bon-Bon was worried sick.”
She noticed something in the distance. She saw a blizzard to her left, coming at a distance.
“Huh?” Lyra saw peculiar movement in the clouds and below. She noticed something emerging from the clouds. She took a closer look at the ground and saw the dirt and grass freeze over.
"Oh, no,” She said. She galloped to find her friend and warn everypony of the blizzard.
Twilight Sparkle was awake preparing for a trip into the Everfree Forest.
Spike took some books and placed them on Twilight's desk. Twilight took the Supernatuals, and Mythical Creatures books and the cure and placed them in her saddlebag.
"Spike,"Twilight said. "Can you get Dark Treasures and Secrets of Equestria too?"
"On it." He went took the book out of a shelf and handed it to Twilight.
“Well,” Twilight said. “Time to--”
Twilight heard some screaming in the distance. She opened her door to find that the temperature had decreased dramatically. Rainbow Dash was outside her library.
“Twilight,” Rainbow Dash said. “We have a problem.”
The blizzard surrounded Ponyville. The townsponies felt colder and more bitter. Twilight and Rainbow Dash went to the town square to find the ground turned to ice.
Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and Rarity were already at the square helping everypony evacuate the town.
“What the hay is going on here?” Applejack said.
“Ponyville freezing over,” Rainbow Dash said. “That blizzard came here!”
“But how why?” Twilight said.
Just then, a very unpleasant face showed up. It was the stallion from yesterday. He said, ”Maybe you would have seen it coming if you weren’t too busy saving ‘Gabby Gums.’”
The mares decided to ignore him this time, they had more important things to attend to.
The stallion said, “Hey don’t you dare ignore me. I’m not done talking to you yet.”
The six friends noticed a ethereal horse above them. The horse flew to the stallion and through his body.
The stallion didn’t notice as his body froze over. But the mares did and they didn’t like what they saw.
“What happened?” Rarity said.
“Is that a windigo?” Rainbow Dash said.
“We got to get the town evacuated now!” Twilight said. The mares all knew what beast they had just seen. They went to get the town evacuated.
The earth ponies and unicorns were evacuating the town as Twilight Sparkle and Applejack herded the crowd to Canterlot. However the storm had the ponies at each other throats as they froze one by one.
Pinkie Pie was doing a plethora of tricks to keep the line while Spike led them to the train station, Fluttershy and Rarity were evacuating the nearby animals, and Rainbow Dash and the town’s pegasi was keeping the area around the ponies warm.
Dash was looking at the windigoes freeze the ponies fighting with each other. She saw two of the pegasi under her command freeze and fell from 20 miles high.
“Ah come on,” she said.
“Need some help?”
Rainbow Dash saw 4 pegasi nearby.
“Cloudchaser, Flitter?” Dash said. “And who are you?”
“Gale Force and Star Song reporting for duty sir,” Gale Force said.
“Okay then, can you help me stall the windigos while the town evacuates?” Rainbow Dash said.
The four other pegasi nodded.
“Are you sure?”
“Sir,” Star Song said. “We’ve have a little experience with this storm. We know what it truly is.”
“Very well,” Dash said. The five pegasi went to intercept the windigoes.
Silver Spoon was in line evacuating the town. She saw two shadows in the sky walking on to the Everfree Forest.
“Diamond Tiara?” She said. Silver Spoon knows how dangerous the storm is but she wanted to stop her before anypony else was hurt. But what can I do she thought. She saw Fluttershy leading some animals to the evacuation.
Silver Spoon went away from the group and towards Fluttershy. “Hey,” she said.
“Huh,” Fluttershy said. “What are you doing here?”
Rarity noticed the filly and approached the group. “You should be evacuating.”
“I saw something fly towards the forest,” Silver Spoon said. She pointed to the other side of town. The three saw two shadowy figures walking among the clouds. Rarity and Fluttershy were worried. They then remembered something.
Rarity galloped to find Twilight Sparkle. Fluttershy thanked Silver Spoon and led her back to the evacuation.
Rarity found Twilight with Spike, Applejack and Pinkie Pie at the train station. They had led the line of ponies out of Ponyville. She panted from the exhaustion of galloping all this way to them.
“Twilight...windigos...statues....forest...look!” She pointed to the figures walking among the clouds and almost collapsed. The other ponies remembered the statues of the Cutie Mark Crusaders still in the forest.
Fluttershy flew to the front of the line. She said, ”Is something wrong?”
Twilight and Applejack went to the Everfree Forest, Spike explained what Rarity told them. They were conflicted. Most of the towns ponies were evacuated.
Lyra and Bon-Bon were among the last ponies to board the extra-long train to Canterlot. The train then started and left for Canterlot.
The ponies and Spike were relieved. With the town evacuated, they went to the forest.
Meanwhile Rainbow Dash saw the train leaving the station. She told the pegasi, “Alright the Friendship Express has left the station, protect the train. I’ll--” She saw her friends trailing two shadowy figures into the forest.
Gale Force saw Rainbow Dash and spoke up. “Sir permission to lead the defence of the Friendship Express sir.”
Rainbow Dash was conflicted. She didn’t know whether to help her friends or help the other pegasi defend from the windigos.
“Sir?” Gale said.
Rainbow dash didn’t know what to do. She had to make a choice and she had to make it now. She saw the shadowy figure and figured it must be their leaders.
She turned to Gale and said, “Permission granted.” She hoped she made the right choice as she flew after her friends.
